RESEARCH

Evaluation of Student Outcomes Report for BADM 101 Introduction to Business, Government and Society; Spring 2013 – Fall 2014 Course evaluation across the dimensions of attendance and grades, and the analysis of gender differences in

performance related to these two dynamics, that was conducted over four semesters. Data from the report, and student analyses of outcomes and suggestions of change for course improvement, were used to redesign the course resulting in significant improvements in student success.

WWBSS – What would black students say? Dissertation. This qualitative study examines the educational experiences of middle class black students attending majority white suburban high schools and focuses on the aspects of these experiences participants believe are influenced by race. 2012

Texas Supplemental Science Curriculum Comparison Report for Grade 5 – Conducted a review and comparison of the Grade 5 supplemental science curriculum programs adopted in 2011 by the state of Texas. 2012

Blackboard Next Generation Product Focus Group – 8-month project that provided feedback from instructors and designers on changes and innovations to Blackboard Learn’s features and functionality. 2012

Teaching American History Grant Program – Collect, evaluate and report data on program effectiveness and satisfaction to the U.S. Department of Education. 2005 - 2008

HP Educational Tools in the Classroom – Researched and evaluated the educational value of Hewlett-Packard technology products. Created a website demonstrating the use of digital cameras, hand-held digital assistants and computer notebooks. The site offered lesson plans, sample projects for students, product resources and best practices for these tools. 2004

Children’s Software Press – Researched, wrote and edited articles on educational

technology for the company’s booklet series and the Power to Learn website, a service of Cablevision. Evaluated educational software. 2000 – 2005

CURRICULUM DESIGN and DEVELOPMENT

Texas Southern University – BADM 101 Introduction to Business, Government and Society. A face-to-face course focused on the behavior and cognitive development necessary for academic, professional and social growth and success. Redesigned to incorporate digital lessons, connections and application to real-world events and practices, reflective activities, and community service projects.

University of Houston – CUIN 7304 Professional Seminar II Multicultural & Social Education. An online course for graduate pre-service education students that explores the intersection of issues in education and social justice.

Lone Star College System Online – Design credit and continuing education courses for delivery online, as hybrid or face-to-face. Provide guidance on pedagogy and technology integration to faculty. Conduct professional development sessions. Provide group and one-on-one instruction on technology applications and tools.

Online Teacher Certification Course – Lead designer for online teaching certification course required of all faculty teaching online in the Lone Star College System.

Rice University’s STEMScopes Program – Create and edit lesson items and instructional resources for this web-based supplemental teaching program.

Project Row House – Part of the concept team that framed a proposed project to collect and chronicle first-person accounts of local history and community using digital

storytelling. 2006

CUIN 8397 Alternative Perspectives in History – Prepared the initial instructional design for this graduate-level, web-based course. 2009

Ethnographic Research in Education (SAER 8320) – Assisted the professor of record with development of course materials, instruction sequence and taught the class. 2007 Gulf Coast Teaching American History Academy – Designed and delivered curriculum, instructional materials and technology tools for this professional development program focused on raising student achievement and improving teachers' knowledge,

understanding and appreciation of U.S. history. 2005 – 2008

50th Anniversary Brown v. Board of Education – Authored this non-linear, self-directed software program for Grade 5 American history students. 2004

Untold Stories: How the City of Houston Became Integrated in the 1960s – Redesign of this educational website. Conducted a website analysis and incorporated suggestions offered by the target audience into new site design. 2004

Us History – A web-based learning module guiding teachers through the process of integrating Black history into existing Grade 5 American history curriculum. The module includes instructional strategies, classroom lessons, student activities, and technology resources. 2003
