There are two core dimensions to the relationship between ASIS and technology: Corporate Technology provides the spectrum of office technology supporting an organisation that operates in a dynamic international environment. We are seeking specialists in roles including, but not limited to: applications architecture, servers and storage, bulk data, desktop, software development, IT support and IT security. Corporate Technology also includes the essential management and support functions that enable daily business and introduce new capabilities. We are recruiting for specialists in, but not limited to: business analysis, project management, procurement/finance, asset management and logistics, quality assurance and client engagement.

Operational Technology enables ASIS to collect foreign intelligence through the development and application of innovative technical solutions to address current and emerging challenges. We are seeking committed and creative engineers and technicians with a background in the electrical, electronic, RF and mechanical disciplines; and specialists in telecommunications, mobile/portable technology, software development and computer science.

Technology Development Engineer

Architects – Applications/Networks/Infrastructure (EL1-2)

The Strategy and Architecture team identify, prioritise and design technology based solutions to solve both strategic ICT issues and explicit customer requirements. We expect members of this team to have a developed understanding of a broad range of IT systems, strong business skills and critical thinking to assist the Chief Information Officer to develop and maintain the enterprise architecture. ASIS is looking for applications/software

architects, enterprise architects, data architects and infrastructure architects. EL1-2:

- Demonstrated experience commensurate at level in one or more of the following ICT roles:  Application Development

 Data Management  Networks

 Servers and Storage - Excellent writing skills

- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills

- Relevant tertiary qualifications and technical writing skills would be highly regarded

Business Analysis (EL1)

Senior business analysts elicit, understand and document business architecture, processes and requirements for new or changing ICT systems, and help bridge the gap between customer expectations, design and delivery teams. They guide day-to-day technology

change programs to ensure that business requirements are met in a strategic and integrated way consistent with the enterprise architecture.

EL1:

- Experience working as a senior business analyst

- Excellent writing skills including demonstrated experience preparing high quality business analysis deliverables such as high level requirements and detailed requirements

- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills

Client Engagement (EL1)

Client Engagement is the entry and liaison point for all new business requests. Working in this area you will be required to establish effective relationships with key stakeholders and improve the customer’s experience. Strong communication and marketing skills are

Page 3 of 12 outcomes for the organisation. Flexibility, adaptability and a strong client focus are essential for staff performing these roles.

EL1:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Knowledge of IT systems and services

Data Science (EL1-2)

Apply your experience in data mining to help us realise value from our data. You will have extensive experience in working with clients to understand and identify analytic problems, preparing data for analysis, and identifying and applying appropriate analytic techniques to deliver operationally relevant outcomes.

EL1:

- Demonstrated experience in the application of machine learning and data mining techniques to deliver valuable outcomes for clients

- Particular strengths in client engagement and in supporting clients to derive value from a data analytics service

- Demonstrated experience in managing small technical teams and working in a multi-disciplinary environment

- Demonstrated strengths in network and behavioural data analysis

EL2:

- Extensive experience in supporting clients to realise value from data through complex analysis and machine learning

- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams

- Deep technical understanding of relevant areas including machine learning, data mining and Hadoop infrastructure

- Demonstrated experience of working (as a client) with research scientists to identify and fill key capability gaps

Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence (BI) Developer (EL1-2)

Data warehouse and BI developers are responsible for proactively ensuring the stability, availability and performance of the warehouse environment and business intelligence reports to meet business needs and achieve real business benefits. Your role will

- Sound understanding of any of the following:  ETL architecture

 Practical experience in using an ETL tool; knowledge of IBM InfoSphere an advantage  TSQL/SQL skills

 Star Schema and OLAP skills  Managing data and databases

 Understanding of relational database technologies

 Understanding of BI models, structures, theories, principles and practices  Practical experience in BI reporting tools; knowledge of Cognos an advantage

EL2:

- An expert understanding of any of the areas detailed above at the EL1 level. - Extensive warehousing experience

- Data modelling expertise

- Ability to visually represent information to stakeholders in the form of BI dashboards and interactive reports

Database Administrator (EL1-2)

Database administrators are used to proactively ensure the availability, stability and performance of the database environment to meet business needs and achieve real business benefits. Your role will encompass: data modelling; database design and maintenance; version control of database definition scripts, backups and installation; programming of stored procedures and scripts; preparation and implementation of

database changes to test and production environments; data management tasks related to application interfaces and monitoring; reporting and correction of data accuracy; and quality assurance. You will require a willingness to learn new technologies and remain abreast of industry developments.

EL1:

- Demonstrable experience in and/or understanding of:  Oracle 10g, 11g and 12c

 SQL Server configuration and documentation  SQL Server security

 Composition and tuning of SQL statements

- Understanding of BI solutions and data warehouse development

- Advanced analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to apply them to complex projects

- Minimum of five years’ database administration (DBA) experience - Professional DBA certification would be highly regarded

Desktop (EL1)

Desktop support personnel are responsible for providing design, implementation, support and maintenance to our desktop computing environment. You will lead a team and be a subject matter expert on all areas of desktop management, development and expansion of the current desktop environment. You will require the ability to acquire knowledge of new technologies and stay abreast of industry developments. You will have a commitment to delivering the best customer service, sometimes across time zones and under operational pressures. You must be able to participate in the on-call, out-of-hours technical response team and be able to travel both domestically and internationally.

EL1:

- Experience in Windows SOE design, deployment, patching, and support

- Experience in Group Policy, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, and desktop customisation - Experience in VMware products including: Horizon, vCenter, vSphere

- Experience in packaging applications for deployment using SCCM - Industry certifications with Microsoft, VMware will be highly regarded

Digital Risk Management (EL1-2)

The Digital Risk Management (DRM) team is focussed on addressing the impact of technological change on our capabilities and activities. DRM is responsible for the identification and management of digital risk as a result of the use of technology across ASIS. DRM educates staff on their digital profiles and undertakes horizon scanning to identify and develop strategies to mitigate emerging technologies of concern to our core business.

EL1-2:

- Demonstrated experience in ICT network infrastructure and/or design and experience in ICT Security implementation.

- Comprehensive understanding of device hardware, software and/or telecommunications infrastructure

Senior engineers within ASIS are focussed on the design, development, maintenance and support of operational technology capabilities. We seek engineers that are able to apply their engineering skills and knowledge across the range of ASIS operations, enabling it to meet Foreign Intelligence collection requirements. As a senior engineer, your role may encompass all areas of capability development and technology leadership. You will require a willingness to develop and mentor a team of junior engineers, seek out and apply innovative solutions to problems and inform ASIS’ technology strategy and risk management processes. You will also require excellent communications skills and a demonstrated ability to develop relationships across government and industry.

EL1-2:

- Trade or degree qualification

- Skills and experience in any of the following:  Electronic/RF engineering

 Telecommunications engineering  Software or computer engineering  Mechatronic and mechanical engineering

IT Finance, Procurement and Asset Management (EL1-EL2)

Roles in this centralised ICT business unit are responsible for supporting both operational and corporate technology and include ICT procurement, budgets, financial reporting, asset management, software and hardware licence management, logistics and stores. You must be flexible and client focussed with a flair for looking at whole of life cycle support. EL1:

- Demonstrated experience working in procurement, finance or managing assets and logistics or translatable business management skills

- Demonstrated understanding of Federal Government procurement regulations/frameworks - Relevant tertiary degree or comparable qualifications desirable

EL2:

- Demonstrated experience working in procurement, finance or managing assets and logistics or translatable business management skills

- Demonstrated understanding of Federal Government procurement regulations/frameworks - Relevant tertiary degree or comparable qualifications desirable

- Demonstrated experience working in strategic financial management, governance, reporting and compliance

- Demonstrated application of Federal Government procurement regulations/framework and broader financial reporting mechanisms

IT Security is responsible for delivering specialist ICT security advice in support of ASIS activities. This includes ICT systems accreditation through risk management, provision of security awareness training, systems auditing, security services administration, vulnerability assessments and incident response. You will require comprehensive knowledge of ICT security and be willing to challenge yourself in meeting the demands of the role in an ever changing operational environment.

EL1:

- Experience working in ICT Security

- Relevant tertiary or comparable qualifications in IT, Systems Engineering or a related field will be highly regarded

- Demonstrated experience in the application of Australian Government Security Policy and Risk Management Principles

- Knowledge of the Information Security Manual (ISM) and the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) will be highly regarded

Networks (EL1)

Network support personnel are responsible for providing support and maintenance to our worldwide WAN and LAN infrastructure. Your role as a subject matter expert will encompass all areas of network management and the development and expansion of the current

environment. You will lead on the planning, design and development of new network infrastructure projects. Network staff require a willingness to learn new technologies and have a commitment to delivering the best customer service, sometimes across time zones and under operational pressures. You must be able to participate in the on-call, out-of-hours technical response team and be able to travel both domestically and internationally. EL1:

- Extensive experience in supporting network systems using hardware such as Cisco routers, switches, firewalls

- Voice and video experience using Cisco or Tandberg products

- Experience in the design and implementation of systems using the above technologies - Experience in WAN acceleration technologies, preferably using Riverbed equipment - Experience in supporting Satellite systems is desirable.

- Industry certifications with Cisco, Riverbed will be highly regarded

Operational Technology Officer – Field Deployments (EL1)

Project Management (EL1-2)

Project Managers are responsible for the management of complex ICT, engineering, security and facilities/building services projects. You will manage multiple or complex projects, or a program of work, potentially including line management of more junior Project Managers. Your past experience will demonstrate mastery of project management competencies (including scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, risk, communications, procurement and integration), as well as involvement in programs of work.

EL1:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Strong interpersonal, negotiation and stakeholder management skills

- Demonstrable experience as the Project Manager of large or complex projects

- Formal qualifications or relevant experience in project management and technology or business management

- Industry certification in project management (eg. AIPM CPPM or PMI PMP) will be highly regarded

EL2:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and stakeholder management skills - Team building skills and experience

- Procurement, contract management, negotiation and supplier management skills - Comprehensive experience managing large or complex projects/programs as a Project

Manager or Program Director

- Formal qualifications or relevant experience in project management and technology or business management

- Advanced industry certification in project, program or portfolio management (eg AIPM CPPD) will be highly regarded

Quality Assurance (EL1)

Servers and Storage (EL1)

Server and storage personnel are responsible for providing support and maintenance to the organisations’ IT infrastructure virtual server and storage environments. Your advanced skillsets in VMware virtualisation, Windows/Linux operating systems, compute and storage technologies will enable you to design, implement and maintain a highly virtualised

environment that supports staff in Australia and overseas. Your role will encompass all areas of server and storage technologies, system management and the development and

expansion of the current environment. You will require a willingness to learn new

technologies and have a commitment to delivering the best customer service, sometimes across time zones and under operational pressures. You must be able to participate in the on-call, out-of-hours technical response team and be able to travel both domestically and internationally.

EL1:

- Extensive experience with support in an environment using system virtualisation (VMWare or Citrix )

- Experience with support of server operating systems such as Windows 2008 R2 and 2012, and Red Hat Linux.

- Experience in supporting high density blade server equipment enclosures - Experience in supporting centralised storage and back up technologies - Experience in supporting Microsoft Windows Active Directory, Group Policy - Experience with support tools such as SCCM, vCOPS and SIM

- Industry certifications in Microsoft, Linux, VMware will be highly regarded

Service Desk/IT Support (EL1)

Software Development (EL1-2)

The software development team apply their technical experience or learn new technologies to solve a wide range of challenging projects. Our projects range from fast, tactical activities to enterprise wide global applications that cannot be developed using commercial products. Join or lead a dynamic team applying modern software development methods and tools to solve business needs and realise business benefits. Your role will encompass all areas of software development including: stakeholder engagement, detailed design, user interface design, prototyping, programming, integration, migration and research. You will require a willingness to learn new technologies and work responsively in a team environment. EL1:

- Bachelor in IT or recognised industry & tertiary qualification

- Demonstrated experience commensurate with level in an ICT development role - Experience in a wide variety of common programming languages

- Proven ability to adapt and develop in any new technology - User interface design (desirable)

- Skills in the following programming languages and/or environments:  .Net

 IBM Notes (Lotuscript)  Java

 SharePoint  Windows  Linux

EL2:

- Relevant tertiary or recognised industry qualification is mandatory - Demonstrable experience in an ICT development role

- Experience in a wide variety of common programming languages (eg those listed above) - Proven ability to adapt and develop in any new technology

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and stakeholder management skills - Demonstrable experience in managing or building software teams

Technology Development Engineer (EL2)

This position is responsible for the strategic development of specific technical capabilities and undertakes a continous horizon scan to ensure ASIS remains at the leading edge of technology development and growth. This role is responsible for the provision of new generation technical capability; oversees the development of requirements and the production of solution strategies; forecasts technology improvements and breakthroughs; and, assists other areas in engineering development and transfer to operations.

EL2:

- Formal professional technical or tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline area - High calibre expertise with secure multi technology communications experience and the

ability to rapidly acquire expertise in relevant new technologies

- Extensive demonstrable experience in a similar role providing high impact, innovative, and new generation technical outcomes

- Subject matter expert in any of the following: hardware engineering; software engineering; manufacturing; simulation; quality assurance; systems engineering; research, development and project management; and, an ability to maintain technical currency

- Ability to effectively communicate technical understanding of subjects to non-technical audiences

- A demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a network of external innovation and resource partners, both local and global, across Government, research organisations and industry

- Proven experience in managing multiple teams, leading, coaching and mentoring staff to build the capability of others

- The ability to seek out and access the most advanced specialist technical knowledge and experience, wherever it may exist

Discipline Experts are subject matter experts within one or two discipline areas through their experience, exposure and education. They have built their capability through education via multiple qualifications/certifications and focus on building the capability of others through managing, coaching and mentoring others. They build their technical capability further through exposure to Senior Officers. They apply professional standards and maintain currency within the specific discipline area, keeping abreast of recent developments and trends and educate others.

Discipline Masters are subject matter experts within more than two discipline areas through their experience, exposure and education. They have built their capability through education via multiple qualifications/certifications and through applying knowledge. They focus on building the capability of others through managing multiple teams, leading a section and coaching and mentoring. They apply professional standards and maintain currency within the specific discipline area, contributing to and ensuring best practice in delivery outcomes.
