Study Vision is pleased to offer a range of personalised Post-Arrival Services that are designed to enhance the learning and cultural exchange experience for international students and visitors in Australia.

The following is a brief description of the main services provided by Study Vision:

Homestay Placement Services

Study Vision offers a unique, personalised accommodation service in Australia for students and visitors of all ages and backgrounds.

For students under 18 years of age, under current Australian Government legislation, they can only live with a screened and approved Australian Homestay family.

For students over 18, we offer either a Homestay or Shared Student Accommodation.

Upon receipt of a completed Accommodation Placement application, our staff will begin the process of finding an Australian host family that compliments the interests and needs of each applicant. All of our families are carefully screened and interviewed to ensure suitability, safety and convenience.

Once we have identified a suitable family we will forward a detailed profile that contains important information about the assigned Homestay family and the neighbourhood in which they live.

A reply back confirming acceptance of the placement will initiate the booking. The booking is completed once all fees are paid.

Why choose a Homestay with Study Vision?

Homestay offers a unique opportunity for international students and visitors to live with a loving and caring host family. The host families available through Study Vision are

(5)

carefully screened, selected, and assigned to ensure the best possible fit, depending on each individual’s personal requirements.

Students living in Homestay generally find that their overall learning and cultural exchange experience is dramatically improved through daily conversations and the involvement of their Host Australian family.

Our experienced host families provide an environment that is safe and fully interactive throughout the student’s stay in Australia. Our families, together with our staff, are committed to ensuring that the student’s experience is as memorable as possible.

Study Vision’s criteria in selecting our Homestay host families:

To be an approved Study Vision Homestay, host families need to:

• Have a friendly and welcoming personality

(6)

• Be flexible and patient particularly with people who speak poor English.

• Be good communicators and good listeners

• Have acceptable moral and social values

• Have some experience dealing with young people

• Demonstrate sensitivity and respect to all people, particularly from different cultures

• Provide a supportive, caring and happy environment

• Conveniently located within 30-40 minutes by public transport to the educational campus where the student is enrolled

• Have a balance in their judgment between the need for an income and the welfare of the student

• Can provide clean and tidy accommodation, fast internet access and healthy, fulfilling meals and snacks

• Ensure that the student receives prompt medical attention if sick

• Ensure that the student receives on arrival adequate advice regarding safety at Home, on the road (street smart) and that their whereabouts are known at all times

• Are present at home or have an approved and screened adult at home at all times a student under 18 is at home.

Airport Transportation Services

Upon arrival at the airport, overseas students are met by our cheerful representative, who knows how to make them feel really welcome.

(7)

During the drive to their accommodation, the student is debriefed about interesting issues such as how to open a bank account, weather forecasts, major landmarks on the route, exchange rates, phone cards, etc.

We understand how excited students can be on arrival and we always try hard to make them feel at home and make this an unforgettable day.

Once we receive the flight details for the student we will prepare and forward an arrival confirmation letter that contains important information about the airport pick-up service, including emergency contact information should either the student or the driver be delayed enroute.

Guardianship/Care-taking Services

All unaccompanied minors (under 18 years of age) studying in Australia must have a local guardian to stay in Australia. A member of our staff is assigned to serve as the student’s guardian for the duration of their stay in Australia. Our staff regularly contacts with each student to ensure they are meeting their academic goals and getting the most from their experience. Through interactions with the student, school staff, and the assigned host family we prepare updates that offer insight into the student’s experience and present recommended remedial action to address any problems the student may be encountering.

At Study Vision, we encourage parents to be extremely careful in appointing a suitableguardian who will be a very important person looking after the welfare and healthy development of their child while studying in Australia. Parents are always welcome to contact us directly for more detailed and independent discussion about this very critical service.

All Homestays arranged by Study Vision for students under our guardianship are rigorously inspected and screened.

Meanwhile, if a student’s parents request that their child lives with a relative or family friends in Australia, Study Vision, under instructions from the parents and the child’s education institute, will conduct an independent Homestay Inspection and background checks of the proposed host family members. A report is submitted to the child’s

(8)

education institute with the result of this screening. The child will not be allowed to move to the proposed Host’s home until this clearance is obtained.

In Victoria, Homestay families normally obtain the Working With Children Checks themselves and present to Study Vision their screening results before we approve them for hosting students under the age of 18. (reference:

Role of the Study Vision’s Guardian for students Under 18:

1. The guardian ensures that the student's Homestay accommodation arrangement provides a safe, caring and supportive environment.

2. The guardian assists student to open a bank account and may assist student with weekly budgeting if requested by the parent. The guardian is not financially responsible for the student.

3. The guardian ensures that the student attends classes, that homework is completed and liaises with school regarding progress.

4. The guardian contacts parent's in any emergency and takes student to the doctor if required. The guardian advises the parent if they have concerns about a student's physical and emotional well being.

5. The guardian offers the student assistance in coping with everyday life in a new culture.

6. The guardian helps the student keep religious observance and attends to the student's needs in areas such as shopping, recreation and personal counselling.

7. The guardian establishes routine communication channels with the student and host family to keep track of the student’s progress and welfare.

8. The guardian provides a gift and cake on birthdays and flowers for the girls.

9. The guardian provides a copy of the academic report to the parents by translating them if necessary

(9)

10. The guardian meets student's families when they visit Australia

11. The guardian assists the student to move out from the current Homestay if there is any discontent or dissatisfaction. This is only done after confirmation and approval from the parents overseas. The student must inform the school if a move is to occur.

12. All guardianship duties cease when on the student’s 18th birthday.

Study Tours

Study Vision organises Study Tours within Australia for national and international groups. We can provide a complete service (itinerary, visits, transportation and Homestay accommodation with Australian families); or we can just provide the

Homestay accommodation for small and large groups organised by other schools, travel agents, etc.

Living with Australian Families during a tour is much cheaper than hotels and obviously more convenient as the host family will provide most meals. The cultural experience of living in an Australian family environment is just terrific for students, tourists, professionals and government officials on visit to Australia.

Study Vision can arrange all Homestay accommodation bookings in all Australian Capital cities. This service makes it easy for tour operators handling tours that visit several cities in Australia.
