September 27: 26th Sunday of O.T.
Reading I: Ezekiel 18:25-28 Reading II: Philippians 2:1-11 Gospel: Matthew 21:28-32“Let Evening Come”
Good poems also serve as prayers. Jane Kenyon’s “Let Evening Come,” is a fall favorite. It reads like a litany. The opening words “Let the light “ evoke the book of Genesis where God says, “Let there be light.”
Let Evening Come By Jane Kenyon
Let the light of late afternoon
Shine through chinks in the barn, moving Up the bales as the sun moves down Let the crickets take up chafing as a woman takes up her needles and her yarn. Let evening come
Let dew collect on the abandoned In long grass. Let the stars appear and the moon disclose her silver horn
Let the fox go back to its sandy den. Let the wind die down. Let the shed go black inside. Let evening come.
To the bottle in the ditch, to the scoop In the oats, to the air in the lungs Let evening come.
Let it come as it will, and don’t Be afraid. God does not leave us Comfortless, so let evening come.
Let us rejoice in unlikely moments and remember “God does not leave us comfortless.”
L’Shalom-In Peace, Fr. Andrew

October 4th is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi
.This year because of COVID-19, we WILL NOT have the Blessing of
Animals, but we are including the following prayer for you to Blessing your own beloved pets:
FRANCISCAN BLESSINGS OF PETS
Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures. You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air,
and animals on the land.
You inspired St. Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters. We ask you to bless this pet ___________
By the power of your love, Enable it to live according to your plan. May we always praise you for all Your beauty of creation.
Blessed are You, Lord our God, in all Your creation! AMEN
Do not look forward in fear to the changes in life;
Rather look to them with full hope that as they arise,
God, whose very own you are , will lead you safely through all things;
And when you cannot stand it, God will carry you in his arms. Do not fear what may happen tomorrow;
the same everlasting Father Who carries you for today will take care of you then and every day.
He will either shield you from suffering, or will give you unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace,
and put away all anxious thoughts and imaginations. St Francis de Sales
