Robert Gordon University offers students a dynamic environment in which to study and develop — set on a campus that has to be seen to be fully appreciated! The University boasts a modern riverside campus, providing a unique environment in which to learn, with first-rate facilities that include the latest equipment and IT, state– of–the–art teaching rooms and industry led technology all based in our tree lined, riverside location.
Throughout the campus, there is a range of great coffee outlets, canteens and food facilities, which offer discounted meals to all ICRGU and RGU students.
Extensive support services are also located around the campus to ensure that someone is always available to help students, regardless of what the query may be. From financial or visa support, to advice on part time work and accommodation, there are teams of support staff ready to help.
The public bus service operates every few minutes, connecting the city centre to the RGU campus. The bus stops in the heart of the campus for maximum convenience, and only a couple of minutes walk to ICRGU.

Pre–sessional English Language
ICRGU offers Pre–sessional English Language for those students who need to improve their English proficiency before starting their academic studies. The duration of English language study will depend upon your current English proficiency and the requirements of your chosen academic programme. ICRGU can look at your current level and talk to you about the length of course to suit you. Pre–sessional English is taught within ICRGU by our dedicated English language lecturers. At ICRGU we understand that moving abroad to study at
university is a really big step. Therefore, we provide all the
services you need to help you settle into life in Aberdeen
and make the most of your time in the UK.
Academic services
You may find studying at university in the UK different from your previous educational experiences. So to help you at each step of the way, ICRGU’s dedicated team of lecturers, and the wider college team, will assist and encourage you throughout your studies.
The ICRGU syllabus is specifically designed to help you develop the core knowledge and skills you need to succeed at Robert Gordon University and become a highly employable graduate.
Subjects at ICRGU adhere closely to the programme structure at the University. Our lecturers come from a diverse range of personal and professional backgrounds in order to give you a fully rounded learning experience.
Student services
ICRGU takes your non-academic needs very seriously and we understand that this is central to your student experience here too. Our student services team will be available throughout your studies to provide ongoing support. The team can also give you advice and support to help you settle into your new home quickly. We also have a dedicated emergency phone line for ICRGU students, making help available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Before your arrival the student services team will provide you with your pre– departure guide, including accommodation
confirmation. They can also arrange a meet and greet from Aberdeen International Airport for maximum peace of mind and to make your arrival as easy as possible.
Orientation
Orientation is a series of activities and workshops where you will receive valuable information to help you settle into ICRGU. During orientation you will:
• receive a welcome pack • select and enrol in modules • create a timetable
• receive your Robert Gordon University student ID card
• be introduced to ICRGU staff, services and facilities
• tour the University campus and city of Aberdeen
• get help opening a bank account • register with a doctor and dentist.
Sports and activities
We understand you are coming to the UK primarily to study, but enjoying your social life and participating in extra–curricular activities is important too. ICRGU runs sporting events and activities throughout the year, including a football team, and we encourage you to get involved.
ICRGU staff will also organise regular events and activities to allow you to get to know your new classmates, as well as Aberdeen, the city that you will now call home.
Student union
As an ICRGU student you can take advantage of all that the University student union, RGU:Union, has to offer. The union is based on campus at RGU and a meeting point for many of the sports clubs, societies and student events.
Library services
Robert Gordon University has a state–of– the–art library which stocks an extensive range of books and journals that will prove invaluable during your studies.
Campus security
ICRGU is located in the centre of the Garthdee campus, an area designed with the safety and happiness of students in mind. The campus is fully staffed, so even if you are studying in the library during the evening you can be sure that you will feel safe.
Religious facilities
Robert Gordon University has a multi–faith centre based on the Garthdee campus, providing you with space for prayer or reflection, just a short walk from ICRGU.
Student feedback
ICRGU listens to the students who study with us and feedback is sought from students on a variety of issues within the college. ICRGU has a student forum and nominated student representatives. The academic services team continuously review the academic content of the stages delivered at ICRGU to ensure they meet the needs of our students.

Assessment includes mix of examination, assignments, group work and presentations, practical and laboratory work (for science–based degree programmes), in–class group projects and an internship opportunity.
If you successfully complete Year 3, you may choose to graduate with a bachelor’s degree from Robert Gordon University. Alternatively, you may continue for further study in Year 4.
Year 4 Two semesters September You will undertake a number of modules
each semester to further study the key areas within your degree programme at a higher level.
Assessment is via a mix of examination, assignments, group work and presentations, practical and laboratory work (for science–based degree programmes), in–class group projects and a final dissertation.
If you complete this final year you will graduate with a prestigious bachelor’s degree with honours from Robert Gordon University. MArch students will also study Year 5 and Year 6 – the Master's section of their degree.

Architecture
RGU boasts the third oldest School of Architecture in the UK, based in the heart of RGU’s Garthdee Campus. Currently ranked 16th in the UK for this subject by The Times (2016), the school is committed to producing alumni of the highest standard who go on to contribute to world renowned global projects, such as the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur and Guangzhou Opera House. All lecturing staff are fully trained professionals with a passion for, and vast experience within, the industry.
Employment and career options
After Year 6, this course enables students to progress to the final professional examination (RIBA Part 3) following a period in practical training. Successful completion of this allows you to become a registered architect. Exciting career opportunities exist in architectural practices across the world.
The BSc/MArch Architecture course at Robert Gordon University, which is accredited by the RIBA and ARB, will provide students with the professional and creative skills required for a successful career in architecture. The taught course can be complemented by a year’s practical experience, allowing you to gain valuable experience of architectural practice.
In 2015, the School of Architecture relocated to a brand new building, with tailor made studio space and technology to help inspire design and motivate creativity.
Students will achieve RIBA Part 1 and Part 2 after completion of the six year MArch.

Pre–Master’s One semester June and October While studying your Pre-Master’s stage at ICRGU, you will cover a series of modules that will prepare you to progress seamlessly to your chosen taught Master’s degree.
Assessment for most modules is continuous and includes tests, assignments and a dissertation. Most modules have a final two hour examination.
Master’s Three semesters – The master’s degree offers you the chance
to build on what you have learned during the Pre–Master’s stage and extend your professional understanding about your relevant area of study.
