Dear Community Council:

Notice: On or before May 1 of each year, the Municipal Clerk is required to notify each

Community Council of all the marijuana establishment licenses located within its boundary that

are anticipated to be renewed. Attached is the list of marijuana licenses that expire August 31,

2020 (AMC 10.80.036E). To comply with this provision of the code, the Clerk’s Office has

attached a spreadsheet of the September 1, 2020 – August 31, 2021 marijuana licenses

anticipated to renew, sorted by Community Council.

Public Hearings and Resolutions: The Municipal Clerk is also required to advise Community

Councils that they may request a legislative public hearing before the assembly on any

marijuana establishment license renewal within its boundaries (AMC 10.80.036E). To request a

public hearing, the community council must adopt a resolution asking the Assembly to hold a

public hearing on the renewal of the marijuana establishment license and must send the

resolution directly to the Office of the Municipal Clerk at

munilicenses@muni.org

. The request

should be in the form of a resolution and preferably containing the following information:

Number of Community Council member votes in favor of the request and the number of

votes opposed; specific facts regarding the reason for the public hearing request,

including dates; and any supporting documentation. The resolution must be received no

later than June 1, 2020.

Please contact the Clerk’s Office if you have any questions regarding marijuana establishment

license renewals or requests for public hearings.

June 2020 Updates

Girdwood Trails Committee

Due to the current spread COVID-19, Girdwood Trails Committee may be held virtually and telephonic indefinitely and only regarding critical items that must be addressed. As there are no critical items to be addressed, the GTC meeting scheduled for June 2 has been canceled, below are updates on topics originally on this agenda:

Old Business:

1. Hand Tram: Hand tram projects are on hold pending MOA review of GTC and GBOS recommended

modifications. Hand tram is unlikely to open in summer 2020. Staff will engage with MOA in June to restart discussions of safety improvements, signage and operations plan.

2. Update on 2020 Trail projects, discuss summer 2020 work party dates

Girdwood Parks and Rec is working on hiring 2 full time summer seasonal trail crew to work in parks and on trails.

Staff is considering some trail projects for 2020 if able to do so within required safety standards. Thank you to Ben Kohler for drainage work, covering roots, and brushing on the Beaver Pond Trail and down tree removal on the Iditarod Trail.

3. GTC/Girdwood Eagle Scout KMTA Grant: All materials have been received. Installation of the posts will be May 30, panels etc to be installed later in the summer with project completion in August. See photos at end of the report.

4. GTC/Girdwood Parks and Rec was awarded a KMTA Grant to work on the Virgin Creek Falls Trail. Federal funding requires that Section 106 Archeological Survey is completed. KMTA plans to assist with the Section 106 study. This may postpone physical work on the trail until summer 2021.

New Business:

5. Discuss GTC project for RTP Grant cycle in the fall and request resolution of support from GBOS. On hold

Updates and other business:

6. Trails Plan Subcommittee Update: Trails Plan Subcommittee meetings are suspended due to COVID-19. Huddle AK will continue one-on-one interviews and provide report of those. Huddle AK will review the project scope and see if there are elements that can move forward.
