1.Share of equity is the total percentage equity held by HDI Partners or Directors of the Firm.

2 Economic Interest (remuneration) is the proportion (expressed as a percentage) of total earnings earned by HDI Partners or Directors of the firm. Total earnings include salary, profit share and any other forms of remuneration earned by all partners directors and/or consultants

1.The category Professional HDI Managers is confined to practising attorneys in the firm. This includes Directors Partners and Professional assistants or Consultants.

2.The category Non Professional Black Managers includes all Managers who are not Practising Attorneys.

3.The percentage is measured in both categories as the number of managers in the category as a percentage of the total number of managers in that category.

1.The measurement of the number of staff in the second two indicators is the number of HDI or black staff respectively expressed as a percentage of the total staff employed in the category.

2.Professional staff for the purposes of this score card includes all practising attorneys and candidate attorneys.

Skills Development

1.For the purposes of this scorecard internal skills development means training provided to members and employees of the firm.

2.Training means all training including formal informal internal and outsourced.

3.Professional staff for the purposes of this score card includes all practising attorneys and candidate attorneys.

4.Total working hours for the purposes of each category means the number of ordinary hours of work over a twelve month period multiplied by the total number of staff in each category.

5.The following factors should be applied to the training:

ᓰthe number of hours spend on training HDI professionals excluding candidate attorneys must be multiplied by a factor of 1,5;

ᓰthe number of hours spend on training candidate attorneys and black non professional staff must be multiplied by a factor of 2.

1.For the purposes of this scorecard qualifying procurement is:

Legal services: procurement from HDI legal practitioners and or individuals or firms complying with levels DD or better;

Other procurement: Individuals or firms or companies who comply the DTI generic or QSE scorecards.

Method of calculation

The total weighting of all the scorecards equals 100

and compliance is accordingly

measured as a percentage.

Compliance or the level of compliance is determined by referring to the table of

compliance set out below.

Where the scorecards allow for optional compliance the total against which the

percentage is calculated is reduced by the weighting attached to the optional indicator.

Should a firm elect to comply with an optional indicator the amount earned in respect

of the optional indicator is added to the firms score as a bonus. The total against which

the percentage is calculated is not increased.

Levels of compliance

Compliance shall be divided into the following categories by percentage scored :

Level AA > 85%

Level A < 85% but > 65%

Level BB < 65% but > 55%

Level B < 55% but > 40%

NON COMPLIANCE < 40%
