SkillMeter

Each model has a "SkillMeter" to help you choose the correct plane.

"Flight skill" shows you whether this model, from the flight characteristics, is more for beginner, intermediate or expert pilots. Of course even expert pilots like to relax on occasion with a plane that even a beginner can fly!

"Building skill" shows you the skill needed to build this model. Again from beginner up to expert.

"Indoor skill" shows you how easy or difficult this model is to fly indoors, e.g. sport hall. When all points are blue then the model is not suitable for indoor flying.

Since their first introduction a few years ago, the electric powered Slow & ParkFlyers changed and enriched the model flight scene. Slow & ParkFlyers offer something for everyone. For example, the beginner can learn to fly with the BloodyMary Thermal. Experts love them “because it’s something different”; you see the actual flying better because it is up-close. Be it your fantasy or reality, everyone enjoys the possibility of flying both indoors and outdoors, at big or small flying fields, parks, backyards and even on a large driveway.

KAVAN ARF Cocktail Flyer Series

Precisely built, conventional balsa and plywood construction, factory covered and equipped with the motor set. Airplanes for beginners to experts.

KAVAN ARF Semi-Scale Series

Planes from the 1st and 2nd World War, bi- and triplanes, 1 to 3 motor driven planes and an EDF driven ParkFlyer too. Each is made of lightweight durable foam, vacuum formed plastic, with light plywood and balsa parts, then factory painted. Models from aviation history.

Last but not least the KAVAN collection offers you the KAVANShot and KAVANShot Trainer. Amongst the smallest radio controlled ARF airplanes available.

For fun in-between without RC, consider the ready to fly balsa free flight Firefly. For kids or as an advertising promotion the ready to fly Flipper made of paper.

Customer comment:

I love your guys WWI planes they are the best foam planes made. They assemble great and look the best when completed. I have also found them sturdy. I own all of your WWI planes and have many other planes made by different manufactures as well so I have a lot of hands on experience to judge by.

I have the Fokker Dr1, Fokker DVIII, De Havilland DH2, Sopwith Pup, Sopwith Triplane, and Albatros DV….

Fokker Dr. I Electric ARF

The German Fokker Dr. I triplane was built shortly after the introduction of the Sopwith Triplane. While not as fast as contemporary biplanes, the Dr. I could easily outclimb an opponent. Small, lightweight and highly maneuverable, it offered good upward visibility and lacked the traditional bracing wires that could be shot away during combat. This combination of features made it an outstanding plane in a dogfight. Also Manfred von Richthofen preferred to use the Fokker Dr. I.

Material: Lightweight fully painted durable foam, vacuum formed plastic and balsa. Includes: “Plug & Fly” 280-size motor with KAVAN K1 Gold connector, SPF

Fokker D. VIII Electric ARF

Semi Scale reproduction of the famous WW-1 fighter. The D.VIII had a unique cantilever wing that was mounted atop a cabane above the fuselage and did not need any strut support thanks to a rigid, plywood-covered structure. In spite of this seemingly outdated configuration the D.VIII shined with outstanding

maneuverability as well as above average take off and climb performance. Due to production troubles the type went into service toward the end of the war with only a few samples actually delivered to combat units. The fighter was powered with a 110 HP Oberursel U II 9-cylinder rotary engine enabling a 204 kph (127 mph) maximum speed. Service ceiling reached 6,000 meters and the tank capacity was good for 1-1/2 hours of flight.

Focke-Wulf FW 56 "Stösser" Electric ARF

Focke-Wulf did not produce any notable aircraft designs in their first seven years of business. But in 1931 with the merger of Albatros-Flugzeugwerke and arrival of Kurt Tank aircraft development improved. Kurt Tank would become one of the world's leading aeronautical engineers. The FW 56 was the first aircraft for which Kurt Tank had full responsibility and Focke-Wulf's first single-engine monoplane. It was developed as a small home-defense fighter but its primary role was as an advanced fighter trainer. The FW 56 had good flight characteristics and was the first German plane to be used to demonstrate dive-bombing. About 1,000 had been produced by 1940. It was nicknamed "Falke" (falcon).

Sopwith Pup Electric ARF

Its 20% smaller size than the Sopwith 1 ½ Strutter and soon earned the Sopwith Admiralty Type 9901 and the "Pup" nickname. Its brilliant performance made it one of the favorites among the British air force legends, even if only relatively few (1,170) were built. It was powered with the popular 80 HP Le Rhone rotary engine that gave it a 180 kph (112 mph) top speed and a maximum flight time of 3 hours. A Sopwith Pup, flown by Commander E.H. Dunning, made history on August 2, 1917 by completing the first ever landing at sea on the deck of the HMS Furious aircraft carrier.

De Havilland/AIRCO DH-2 Electric ARF

The DH-2 was Geoffrey de Havilland's second design for the British Aircraft Manufacturing Company (AIRCO). DH-2s proved to be effective in combat against early German Albatros D-II and later helped clear the skies of Fokker E-III. This successful pusher was very maneuverable and exhibited an excellent climb rate. Mounting the engine in the rear of the fuselage allowed for a forward-firing machine gun before the advent of the synchronous machine gun. Of course the open cockpit was a problem during the winter. James McCudden, who flew a DH-2 during the winter of 1916, wrote of one patrol: "I did not care whether I was shot down or not. I was so utterly frozen".

The KAVAN DH-2 is equiped with a scale pull-pull control mechanisim for rudder and elevator.

Material: Lightweight fully painted durable foam, vacuum formed plastic and balsa. Includes: "Plug & Fly" 400-size motor with KAVAN K2 Gold connector, propeller, wheels, decals, hardware and illustrated instructions.

Ford Trimotor Electric ARF

Ford Tri-Motor Electric ARF

The first step towards modern U.S. air transportation was taken with the Tri-Motor. Making transcontinental air travel a reality, this aircraft reached peak production in 1929. The Tri-Motor served American Airways as both an eight-passenger airliner and an airmail carrier. One of the most important events in the selling of aviation to the general public was the entry of Henry Ford into aircraft manufacturing. The Ford automobile was at the time the symbol of reliability, and it followed in the minds of a good many people that a Ford airplane would be safe to fly. The Ford Tri-motor was a rugged (all-metal construction), dependable transport airplane, which won a permanent place in aviation history.

Our Ford Tri-Motor Electric ARF is patterned after the full scale airplane type 5-AT-C, tail number N414H, from Scenic Airways. Until recently N414H flew tourists over the Grand Canyon. For optimal performance and scale flight appearance our Ford Tri-Motor is powered by two motors with a free spinning prop in the nose. Materi-al: Lightweight fully painted durable foam, vacuum formed plastic and balsa. Includes: 280-size motors with K2 Gold connector wiring harness for easy hookup, APC props, wheels, decals, hardware and illustrated instruction.

Ford Tri-Motor with Floats Electric ARF

In 1935 TWA added a New York City commuter flight using NC-410H, TWA No. 620. The purpose was to transport passengers and mail from downtown Manhattan to Floyd Bennett Field, New York City’s first municipal airport. TWA pilot Bill Piper told an interesting story about a preliminary test flight, “…Harlan Hull, the system Chief Pilot, (and a former Marine pilot) came out to see me and asked if the ship was ready to fly. My answer was a quick ‘Let’s give it a try!’ The next morning we were airborne for one of the most thrilling flights ever…

underneath the 59th Street and George Washington bridges, and a tour of the New York skyline, the Statute of Liberty, Long Beach and Eastern Long Island… all from an altitude of 50 feet.” *

Even if you forget the story above, each time you fly Ford Tri-Motor with Floats you will smile. The Ford Tri-Motor can also be hand-launched and landed on grass fields.
