When you “Google” any business name the first thing that comes up is their

reputation or lack thereof. It's the #1 thing people see.

Customer reviews on Google, Yelp, and many others can effect potential customer

reactions. Customer reviews are a major factor in pay-per-click and organic

rankings.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO), social media, pay-per-click, and local marketing

are not the only option that affect businesses online anymore. A bad reputation will

overrule all of these efforts and show up on top.

Collecting positive reviews from clients or having them post their good reviews to

social media and directories can improve SEO.

Websites like Google+, Yellowpages, Yelp, CitySearch, LawyerRatingz, and more can

improve your online presence with positive reviews.

Colorful language and imagery is fine, but there's no

need for threats, harassment, lewdness, hate speech, and other displays of

bigotry.

Conflict of interest:

Your contributions should be unbiased and objective. For

example, you shouldn’t write reviews of your own business or employer, your

friends’ or relatives’ business, your peers or competitors in your industry, or

businesses in your networking group.

Promotional content:

Unless you're using your Business Owners Account to

add content to your business's profile page, we generally frown upon promotional

content.

almost always works against you.

experience or uses a racial slur), you can usually flag the review to bring it

to the directories attention.

Obtain positive reviews to push down the negative review. Most directories

will post most recent reviews on top, pushing the negative review down.
