Purpose

Product road maps are designed to support the product adoption planning activities of SAP

customers. A product road map helps a customer match short term and long term goals with

technology plans.

A product road map describes how the feature / function capabilities in an SAP product or

technology are planned to progress over time, in general:

Today = changes in the current release version

Planned Innovations = changes planned in upcoming development releases (next 12-18 months)

Future Direction = proposed themes for a product or technology beyond the planned releases

The product road maps are targeted for use by IT planners, enterprise architects, SAP

Consulting, and SAP consulting partners.

Complementary resources

For a more general description of the business problems / processes being solved and

supported by SAP, refer to Solution Road maps.

For more detailed technical information please refer to the Product Availability Matrix,

Ramp-up Knowledge Transfer materials and product documentation.

Parameterization of the target action is taken from the

drilldown of the cells from which you jump.

New component “Context Menu” gives the designer full

flexibility

Cell lock planning

It is now possible to lock individual input-ready cells in an

application for planning purposes

During runtime you can now freeze one or more selected

values while planning others.

Real time / data streaming

Design Studio 1.4 comes with a real time data extension

package.

This supports the ability to create visualisations with streaming

data from esp. (

Push use case

)

“DS timer component” allows to pull data near real-time (regular

updates 3/5 secs) from HANA or BW (

Pull use case

)

Time based line charts with time axis scaling allow to better

visualise data in real time whether that is streamed or pull based.

Note:

SAP Event Stream Processor enables you to

create and run your own complex event processing

(CEP) applications to derive continuous intelligence

from streaming event data in real time.

Data source SDK

With the data source SDK it will be possible to consume

data from all kinds of data sources (for example CSV

files, via URL, 3rd party sources, or simply local data

manually added via a spreadsheet in design studio)

SDK components and charts can consume SDK data

Can also implement a data buffer, which extends a SDK

data source that provides the addcell method for easily

adding data to the data source.
