Welcome to the May – August, 2014, Support Program Calendar.

Patient and Family Support Services is pleased to off er you and your

loved ones a wide variety of classes, programs, support groups and

special events at no charge. Whether through expressive art, a gentle

massage, or the encouragement of peers in a facilitated group, Support

Services helps cancer patients and their loved ones by developing

programs that off er creative expression, comfort, healthy movement,

and information during one’s cancer diagnosis, treatment, and beyond.

To make browsing this brochure easier, we have included an index

of services by subject and page number at the end of this booklet.

Please note that the center pages contain monthly calendars with daily

programs in the Lebanon campus listed by date and time.

Support programs in our affi liate locations are listed on page 14.

None of these services would be available without the donations of generous private and community donors

and the ongoing support of Norris Cotton Cancer Center and the Friends of Norris Cotton Cancer Center.

These organizations and individuals believe in the importance of treating the whole person—body, mind, and

spirit—when faced with a disease as diffi cult as cancer.

To learn how your gift can fund the continuation of support services for cancer patients and families, please

call Amy Schrom at (603) 653- 0745.

For more information or to contact us, please email

cancersupport@hitchcock.org

or call (603) 650-7751.

Sincerely,

Deborah Steele, MA

The Dartmouth-Hitchcock Arts Program encompasses visual, performance and

creative arts throughout Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Volunteers perform music in a

variety of locations for patients, family members, and staff. Our artists-in-residence

offer one-on-one experiences with music, art and writing. Permanent and rotating

art exhibits create a peaceful environment that promotes healing and tranquility

for the entire community. For more information about art programs and events,

Experienced, caring staff members facilitate all groups. Everything that is said or discussed is confidential. Groups are held in person, or are conducted by phone over a free conference line. Several groups combine both in-person and phone-in options. Our telephone support groups require pre-registration. All of our phone-in groups are open to anyone in the region regardless of where they received their treatment.

Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ‘RAY-key’) is an ancient healing arts technique. Reiki treats the whole person—body, mind, emotions, and spirit. The practitioner’s hands are placed gently on or near the client and may create a sense of comfort and well-being.

Reiki practitioners travel between Level 3 Infusion Suite

and Level 2 Radiation–Oncology. Call 650-7751 for

schedules.

“I found myself talking to my body parts and encouraging them to heal. It was very relaxing and peaceful!”
