The purposes of this project are to assess chronic disease situation and services at a sub-district level, utilize community participation to propose a model for the prevention and control of diabetes and hypertension, and test the derived model. 2005: Tsunami Community Service @ Thailand (TCS@T): organize a volunteer group of the University of Michigan students and others to help with tsunami relief effort in Phang Nga, the worse hit province of Thailand; traveled to the affected communities to build a school library and organize libraries, provide psychological support and primary care services; and coordinate with other volunteer groups.
