At Community Health Care we understand the magnitude of the decisions providers must make when it comes to choosing an organization and location in which to practice. We also understand that for a provider to make an

informed decision on whether to choose Community Health Care as a place to start their career they must first be provided with comprehensive information about our organization.

It is for this purpose we have created the Resident’s Choice Tool-Kit. This guide serves as a resource to our potential residents to help educate them on our

organization, our mission, and the surrounding community in which Community Health Care is located.

We are truly pleased that you are taking the time to review all that our organization has to offer and wish you all the very best in your career choice.

Community Health Care is located in Tacoma, Washington and is one of the fastest growing communities in the Northwest. Tacoma’s story spans more than two centuries from the time Captain George Vancouver anchored off Tacoma’s north shore in 1792. In 1870, Tacoma’s natural deep-water port became an attraction that the Northern Pacific Railroad couldn’t pass up, when it made Tacoma a stop on its transcontinental line. The railroad platted “New Tacoma” and the growth of the city began. Old Tacoma and New Tacoma merged in 1884 and incorporated as Tacoma. By 1890, the population reached 36,000 people. Sawmills, coal mines, flour mills and a smelter turned raw materials into exportable goods. Tacoma continues to make use of both its land and sea resources. It is home to the Port of Tacoma, the seventh-largest container port in the United States, and it is within 20 miles of the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and 36 miles of the city of Seattle.

Today Tacoma is a thriving city with a revitalized downtown that caters to residents and visitors alike with its shopping, dining, theaters and award-winning arts and architecture. It is a diverse cultural melting-pot that is filled with a multitude of exciting events, activities, and entertainment. There is something for everyone in Tacoma, not to mention the rest of this beautiful state! We have created a small list of websites that can serve as a guide to get you started on your exploration of Tacoma, Seattle, and all that Washington State and all it has to offer.
