The Camera
The camera is designed to sit on a tabletop, facing the display surface.
The camera contains an IR sensor, and tracks the movement of the stylus or wand. The camera must have a clear line of sight to the stylus or wand at all times during use. The camera must remain stable and in a fixed position during use.
The camera may not function properly with interference from other infrared devices or in intense lighting such as halogen lighting or low-hanging light fixtures.
The Stylus
Do not use the stylus on surfaces that may scratch, such as drywall or painted surfaces. Carefully test on a small area on the display surface before use.
The stylus is designed for use on hard, smooth surfaces only, such as traditional dry-erase boards. Rough surfaces may cause excessive wear on the stylus tip. For all other surfaces, use the wand.
The stylus communicates with the camera through infrared technology (IR). The stylus must have a clear line of sight to the camera at all times.
The IR emitter on the stylus is located at the top of the stylus lens.Hold the stylus as recommended (see page 18) to ensure that the IR emitter is unobstructed during use.
The Wand
The wand is designed for use on almost any surface, such as walls and projector screens.
The wand communicates with the camera through infrared technology (IR). Be sure the IR emitter at the tip of the wand has a clear line of sight to the camera during use.
Gently pull the tip to extend the wand to desired length.
Safety Information
The now!Board™ camera is equipped with a class 2 laser, similar to those used in laser pointers. By default, the laser
is engaged only during the calibration process. Only adults should calibrate now!Board™.
The low-power visible laser emits radiant power below 1 mW.

now!Board™ software prompts and the guidelines below to position the projector, camera, and stylus for
the best performance.
Using now!Board
™with a Projector
1. Connect the projector to your computer. Set the
projector at the correct distance for your desired display. The projector should be between 5' and 11' (1.5 m and 3.35 m) away from your display surface. If you are only using the stylus (not the wand) the projector can be up to 14' (4.25 m) away from the display surface.
Note: Make sure your computer screen resolution is set to 1024 x 768. Most projectors will default to this setting. To change your computer’s resolution, go to:
Windows: Control Panel > Display Mac: Settings > Display
2. Connect the now!Board™ camera to your computer with
the included USB cable (Figure 15).
(Figure 15)

3. Position the camera as follows:
• D = H + W, where
o D is the distance of the camera from the TV/monitor;
o H is the height of the TV/monitor; and o W is the width of the TV/monitor.
o This distance is required by the now!Board™
camera to function properly.
4. Launch the now!Board™ software on your computer.
(Figure 18)
