Lakes Region Community College, Laconia, New Hampshire

Lakes Region Community College is one of seven community colleges in New Hampshire serving approximately 1200 students, offering 23 degree programs and 39 certificate programs.

Reporting to the Chancellor of the State System, I serve as the chief executive officer of the college responsible for the general administration and supervision of all campus based operations.

Vice President for Student Affairs 2004-2011

Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester, New Hampshire

Southern New Hampshire University is an independent, private University with an enrollment of 2300 full-time undergraduate day students and 8,000 students online and at satellite campuses.

Reporting to the President, I served as the Chief Student Affairs Officer. My direct responsibilities included: Residence Life, Commuter Services, Health and Counseling Services, Public Safety, Student Activities, Greek Affairs, Student Life, Orientation, Commencement, Service and Citizenship, Athletics (NCAA Division II), Campus Ministry, Dining Services, Bookstore, Diversity, International Student Services and the overall budget development and management for $20 million plus the oversight of outsourced auxiliary services of $7.5 million.

Selected Accomplishments:

• Chaired the University-wide Strategic Planning Process which resulted in a successful new five year plan leading the institution to growth, a stronger general education core, improved administrative processes and greater financial stability.

• Developed and maintained the University (ICS) Crisis Management Plan and served as the team trainer and designated Incident Commander of the University Crisis Management Team consisting of 20 members of the campus community including IT, Facilities, Public Safety, Finance, Communications and Media Relations.

• Facilitated the design and opening of 4 new residence halls brings 500 new beds to campus. • Partnered with the CFO to move the University from a self-operating food service to a

contracted dining service operation (resulting in over 10 million dollars of budget improvement over the life of the contract).

• Worked jointly with the CFO to manage the relationship with the bookstore and dining services providers to maximize contract oversight and customer service.

• Facilitated the design and opening of a 47,000 square foot new dining and multipurpose center.

• Facilitated the design and opening of a new state-of-the-art Wellness Center.

• Instituted a new student judicial process which incorporated a student development model and involvement of students, faculty and staff.

• Established a Service and Community Involvement Office which received a Carnegie Foundation Community Engagement Classification.

• Chaired the University Retention Task Force as overall undergraduate retention improved. • Created and Chaired the Campus Planning Group replacing an ad hoc process with one

which institutionalized planning and decision-making improving the efficiency and effective of campus facilities use.

• Served as a mentor in the University’s Professional Enrichment Program to young professionals in IT, career service and academic advising and adjunct faculty.

Dean of Students 1994-2004

Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, North Adams, Massachusetts

Formerly North Adams State College, MCLA is one of nine state public colleges in Massachusetts and is the designated liberal arts college of the College System with a total full-time enrollment of 2000.

Reporting to the President, I served as the Chief Student Affairs Officer. My responsibilities included: Athletics (NCAA Division III), Residence Life, Commuter Services, Counseling and Health Services, Campus Safety, Student Activities, Greek Affairs, Judicial Affairs, Volunteer Services, Minority and International Student Services, Orientation, Food Service , the College Bookstore, and the overall budget development and management for $8 million.

Selected Accomplishments:

• Coordinated and facilitated improved College-Student relations with City of North Adams through outreach and liaison initiatives resulting in a shared Community Policing model. • Assumed responsibility for and redesign of new student orientation.

• Facilitated the design and opening of a new Health/Counseling Center. • Established an Office of Diversity.

• Coordinated and managed College-Student Emergency Response Protocol for the College. • Instituted a new student judicial process.

Dean of Students 1989-1994

Misericordia University, Dallas, Pennsylvania

Formerly College Misericordia, the University is one of 16 private higher education institutions sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy with a full-time enrollment of 1,700.

Reporting to the President, I served as the Chief Student Affairs Officer. My responsibilities included: Residence Life, Commuter Services, Student Activities, Judicial Affairs, Orientation, Public Safety, Career Services, Athletics, Counseling, Health Services, Food Service and the overall budget development and management for $5 million.

• Facilitated the design and opening of a new Athletic and Wellness Center along with three new athletic fields.

• Facilitated the successful move of Athletes from NAIA to NCAA Division III Affiliation.

Associate Dean of Students 1984-1989

Widener University, Chester, Pennsylvania

Widener University is an independent, private University with an enrollment of 4,500 students.

Reporting to the Dean of Students, my responsibilities included: Residence Life, Greek Affairs, Judicial Affairs, Disabled Student Services and the Campus FM radio station.

• Created a summer new student orientation program for the Office of Student Affairs. • Assumed the role of acting Director of Residence Life along with other position.

Formerly Rider College, the University is an independent private institution with an enrollment of 5,000 students.

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Students, my responsibilities included: Disabled Student Services, Institutional 504 Compliance, New Student Orientation and Student Government.

Selected Accomplishments:

• Redesigned the new student orientation program.

• Guided the re-organization of Student Government and the Programming Board to improve working relations and use of the student activities fee.

• Created a “disabilities awareness week” and designed a winter session disabilities awareness credit-bearing course.

• Facilitated the establishment of and advisement to a SGA recognized Disabilities Awareness Organization.

Assistant Dean of Students 1978-1980

Simon's Rock of Bard College, Great Barrington, Massachusetts

Formerly Simon’s Rock Early College, this private institution enrolls 400 high school-aged students in a traditional residential liberal arts associates and bachelors degree program.

Reporting to the Dean of Student, my responsibilities included: Residence Life, Student Activities and Athletics.

• Created cross-functional departments of Residence Life, Athletics and Student Activities to provide needed staffing with limited resources.

• Increased social, recreational and co-curricular programming.

• Coordinated and facilitated improved College-Student relations with the town of Great Barrington through outreach and liaison initiatives allowing for use of needed external facilities.

Reporting to the Residence Area Coordinator, my responsibilities included: Managing the operations of a 400 student residence complex and 10 member paraprofessional staff, area judicial board and campus greekorganizations.
