 The Access Center Nurse holds professional accountability for psychiatric and medical nursing care to the patients participating in the assessment and subsequent admission or disposition process in the Access Center.

 Directs, guides and supervises activities of direct care nursing staff who may be assisting in the Access Center

 Current licensure by the Georgia Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse

 Strong mental health background with previous experience working with children, adolescent and adult psychiatric/addiction populations

 Preferred three years in psychiatric/chemical dependence nursing

 Checks patients’ personal belongings as needed for patient safety

 Utilizes effective communication in de-escalating patients with emphasis on appropriate expression of feelings/needs, reality orientation, self-responsibility, and safety
