flaGshiP ProjeCts

optimum Water reclamation scheme

Golder successfully carried out the role of lead Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management contractor for Optimum Coal Mine’s newly-built water reticulation plant that will treat up to 15Mℓ/day of excess mine water into potable standards for both drinking and release back into the environment. This project represents state-of-the-art mine water desalination technology that complies with all the requirements of the DWAF Guidelines for Drinking Water Use.

south deep Mine tailings storage facility

South Deep Mine is an operational gold mine located approximately 10 km south of the town Westonaria, in Gauteng province. Golder managed the construction of a new tailings dam, which was commissioned by the mine when the two existing tailings dams were reaching full capacity. The team managed the different engineering disciplines on the project and ensured that resources were timeously mobilised to address all engineering aspects in terms of design, fabrication and construction.

sunderland ridge Waste Water treatment

City of Tshwane Municipality embarked on the extension of the Sunderland Ridge Waste Water Treatment Works by 20 Mℓ/day and appointed Golder as construction management consultants for the project. The Sunderland Ridge

Wastewater Treatment Works are located about 20km north-west of Centurion in the Sunderland Ridge industrial area. The works treats wastewater, which is mainly of domestic origin from areas within Centurion, part of Midrand and Pretoria West.

rietspruit Mine Closure

BHP Billiton appointed Golder as the consultants and main contractor for the Rietspruit stormwater EPC contract. Part of the works for mine closure entailed the construction of stormwater management structures to control water run-off during rainfall events. Golder managed the construction of 120 structures with no health and safety incidents in the 135 000 hours worked on the project.
