EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE
Thursday, January 1, 2009 – 4:00 p.m.

Township Clerk Tedesco called the Meeting to Order at 4:12 p.m.
Township Clerk Tedesco read the Opening Statement pursuant to the Open Public Meetings Act. Township Clerk Tedesco led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The National Anthem was sung by Miss Allison Constantine.
Invocation was offered by James J. McCullough, III, Master of Theology, Dean of Somerset Christian College Freeholder Chairman James Curcio administered the Oath of Office to Paul W. Hodson and John W. Risley, Jr. as members of the Township Committee.

Township Clerk Tedesco asked the members of the Township Committee for their nomination of Mayor for the year 2009.
Committeeman Hodson nominated James J. “Sonny” McCullough as Chairman/Mayor for the year 2009, Committeeman Glassey seconded the nomination.
Motion Hodson second Glassey that RESOLUTION #1-2009 Appointing the Chairman of the Egg Harbor Township Committee for the Year 2009, be adopted.

The Mayoral Oath of Office was administered by Atlantic County Sheriff Frank Balles to James J. McCullough who was accompanied by his wife and grandchildren.
The Township Clerk asked the members of the Township Committee for their nomination of Deputy Mayor for the year 2009.

The Mayor read the Mayor’s Address (attached) and called upon the members of the Township Committee for remarks. Committeeman Hodson thanked everyone for attending this year’s reorganization. He also thanked his family, voters, community and volunteers who have shown confidence in him to be elected. He committed to work as hard as he could to make this Township the best it can be. Finally, he wished everyone a safe and happy new year.
Deputy Mayor Glassey thanked everyone for coming out on New Year’s Day. He echoed what everyone has said and that 2009 will be a great year. He stated that we should stop talking doom and gloom and talk about the good and we will all be okay.
Committeeman Carman welcomed Paul Hodson and John Risley back. It has been a pleasure serving the Township of Egg Harbor and will be a pleasure again this year. He stated that in the room he saw the backbone of our community. Happy New Year to all.
Committeeman Risley thanked his family for their support and for being here with him. He also thanked the voters for allowing him to be here. He will work hard.
Mayor McCullough stated that another part of our success story is our great department heads under the leadership of Administrator Peter Miller.
