Print Driver Mappings

• Create any driver

mappings need for print devices on the go-live list

• Remaining driver mappings will be

created and managed through Project

Compatibility

-Educate Admins & Users

Administrator training:

How to add a compatibility mapping

How to use Project Compatibility

How to assign users / groups to a Citrix policy

Leave administration documentation with them

End-User training:

How to select a printer

How to report a missing printer

Leave “how to” documentation with them

We are now ready to GO-LIVE with the printer environment!

The Problem…

From my experience, 9 out

of 10 environments suffer

from failed auto-created

printers

In order to auto-create

client printers:

– Client print driver name is required to be identical to the server’s print driver name

(35)

The Solution?

• Enumerates MetaFrame servers in the farm

• Parses event logs to find failed printers

• Presents failed driver with a recommended driver

• Allows to edit and or

remove mappings from IMA

• Web-based Database updates

• And much, much, more!!!

(36)

Citrix Confidential

System Requirements

• Project Compatibility must be installed on a MetaFrame XP FR2 server

• The MetaFrame XP Farm must be running in Native Mode

• Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 must be installed on the MetaFrame Server that Project Compatibility will be installed on and run from

• Project Compatibility administrators need to have full administration to the Farm and local admin rights to the selected MetaFrame servers

(37)

How to Install Project Compatibility

• Recommended to be installed on the

MetaFrame XP with Feature Release 2 “control server” server

• Wizard driven installation program

(38)

Failed Printer Drivers

• Failed Printer Drivers are

presented in a Treeview and in the Failed Auto-created Printer Drivers boxes

• The Failed Auto-created Printer Drivers box also contains:

– The servers containing the failed driver

(39)

Suggested Printer Drivers

Failed printer drivers

are compared against

the suggested driver

database and the admin

is presented with any

matches

If no match is found the

administrator can enter

a custom driver or
