40 Day for Life

Wednesday, Oct. 20, parishioners from Sts. Peter & Paul and Holy Cross are, especially, invited to join this peaceful prayer vigil on this day. Volunteers are needed to pray on one-hour shifts between 7:00 am & 6:00 pm outside the Evansville Planned Parenthood Clinic at 125 N Weinbach Ave. This clinic refers clients for surgical abortions and dispenses abortifacients. Sign up in the back of Sts. Peter and Paul church or contact Sarah Rigg 812-306-6226 for more information. There truly is an impact to Nation- wide, “40 Days”! Since 2007, 18,000 unborn babies have been saved; 211 abortion workers have quit; and 107 abortion centers have closed!

Due to several years of decreasing profits and unexpected closing of restaurants, the cost to run the program is no longer financially feasible to continue. We will operate as normal until October 31, allowing you to place Scrip orders for Scrip cards not in our on-hand inventory.

Effective immediately, we will not restock our on-hand inventory. Beginning November 1, we will sell our on-hand inventories until depleted. All Scrip orders will continue to earn the Scrip credit as they have earned in the past.

For families using the Raiseright app and ordering online, you will be able to continue ordering as normal through October 31. The ability to pay online will be disabled on November 1. Access to your Raiseright wallet, which houses egifts purchased prior to October 31 will continue.

For those who regularly purchase gift cards for Christmas, please note that the last date to order gift cards outside of our on-hand inventory is October 31.

U of E Mass Time Change

University of Evansville Neu Chapel on the UE campus has changed its Sunday Mass time to 6 pm (this Mass formerly was at 1 pm). The 6 pm Mass will be held every Sunday night, except when UE is not in session. All are welcome!

Sts. Peter & Paul’s Auction Postponed

We have decided to postpone the Sts. Peter & Paul's Die Kirche Auction until Sunday, April 3, 2022. The German Meal will be Saturday, April 2, 2022. More details will be available at a later date.

Wisdom Days Canceled

The Wisdom Days for Vincennes, Dubois County, and Evansville have been cancelled this year due to a rise in COVID in the region. We hope to see you next year!

Birthright Donations

Thank you for your generous donations in the last few months for Life Choices Maternity & Youth Home! These items and donations have been delivered and received with sincere appreciation!

We are shifting the focus between now and Christmas to help BIRTHRIGHT of Evansville with their layette baskets for preemies and newborns. Any donations of items will be most welcome. The “BIRTHRIGHT NEEDS” list is on the bulletin boards with a tote designated for these donations at the entrance of Sts. Peter & Paul and a drawer labeled

“Birthright” at St. James Church entrance. Mail monetary donations to Birthright of Evansville, 20 Read St, Evansville, IN 47710 or place in an envelope marked “Birthright” in Sunday collection or take to the parish offices. Questions, contact Joanie Luttrell at 812-664-4273 or Sarah Rigg at 812-306-6226 or Linda Kissel at 812-677-0085.

Part-Time Sacramental Coordinator Position

In the spring of 2020, we created a full-time Sacramental Coordinator position that covers all three of our linked parishes. Due to the amazing growth in sacramental preparation needs within our three parishes, we are going to reorganize the one full-time position into two part-time positions. This reorganization of responsibilities will allow us to improve response time and efficiency, which will benefit all. The position we are posting is a Sacramental Coordinator part-time position that will be responsible for the sacraments of marriage and baptism. The full job description can be found on any of the three linked parish websites. To apply, please send your resume to Joe Hopf at chopf@evdio.org.

HS RockLife Nights

Our next RockLife will be on Sun., Oct. 10 from 6-8 pm in the youth room at Sts. Peter & Paul. (when our county is Red or Orange we’ll have to gather in the gym, wear masks and socially distance). This will continue throughout the school year (usually twice a month). These nights focus on leading teens closer to Christ while meeting them where they’re at. It helps youth get excited about their faith and more engaged! Not only will you find food for the soul, you’ll also be served Sandy’s Pizza!! Bring a friend, mask and a waiver!

Drew Wilson—Call to Join the Adult Choir

Come Sing with Us!

"Sing out, heavens, and rejoice, earth, break forth into song, you mountains, For the LORD comforts his people

and shows mercy to his afflicted." (Isaiah 49:13 NABRE)

Adult choir practices are resuming for our three linked parishes! Though we perform separately at Holy Cross, St. James, and Sts. Peter and Paul, let’s learn together as one and deepen friendships across our linked parishes. Join us Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm at Holy Cross Church, beginning October 14.

We’ll learn to sing in parts (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass) for new and familiar hymns and songs; we’ll learn new music for prelude and meditation at Mass (ranging in style from Renaissance motets to masterpieces of the twenty-first century);

and we’ll develop our skills in choral blending, a capella singing, chant, and singing in English and Latin, as well as numerous broader performance skills that make music captivating.

If you love to sing and are willing to learn, come join us — I would love to work with you!

With prayers that we may all come to hear the Voice of Jesus in our everyday lives and summon the conviction to follow His Call,

Drew Wilson
