HOW TO APPLY

77 TRANSFER STUDENTS

—with less than 18 hours of college credit 1.Complete the admission application at goapplytexas.org.

2.Submit an official high school transcript, verifying graduation.

3. Submit official college transcripts from ALL colleges attended.

4.Students must meet Freshman standards and will go through the same Application Review or Secondary Review processes.

TRANSFER STUDENTS

GRADUATE STUDENTS

1.Complete the admission application at goapplytexas.org.

2. Official transcripts (maximum of two*) are required, including:

1. Transcript from the institution of conferred bachelor's or master's degree required for the program you intend to apply to.

2. If applicable—transcript from college of most recent attendance if it differs from the institution of the conferred degree.

3. Scores on the GRE or GMAT*

*Required for MBA applicants only Some test waivers may apply.

Check department web pages for waiver policy.

To be eligible for graduate admission, a student must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Some graduate programs may require additional documentation beyond the three requirements above. Students are strongly encouraged to view the admissions requirements on the program web page for additional information.

Prospective graduate students should submit all admissions materials at least 30 days prior to the start of the semester in which they wish to begin studies.

FRESHMAN ADMISSION

—first time college student

Lamar University is now offering a test-optional admission pathway. Submission of standardized test scores (SAT/ACT) will not be required to receive an admissions decision. Applicants will have multiple paths to admission to Lamar University and will receive a decision once required documents are received.

1. Complete the admission application at goapplytexas.org.

2. Submit official high school transcripts and any dual-credit transcripts.

ADMISSIONS REVIEW

1. CLASS RANK - Students in the upper 50%

of their graduating class are admissible to LU.

2. ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT REVIEW - Students not in the lower 50% of their graduating class, students attending schools that do not rank and homeschool students will have their transcripts reviewed for admission.

3. DUAL CREDIT COMPLETION - Students who have completed 18 or more college credit hours at the time of their application and have a 2.0 cumulative GPA are admissible to LU.*

*This includes students attending early college high schools.

SECONDARY REVIEW

Students not admissible through the above criteria will be notified by the Office of Admissions of their secondary review options and may choose either opportunity below.
