Travel with host Christy Shields

As a child, Christy was terrified of thunderstorms.

This led her to frequently watch weather coverage in her hometown of Butler, PA. This fear turned into a fascination and she pursued her passion at Pennsylvania State University, earning a B.S. in Meteorology.

Before working at WTAJ, she was in Hagerstown, MD at HMTV6 as the morning meteorologist.

Christy then moved back to Central Pennsylvania to become a meteorologist at WTAJ. She has now earned her Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal from the American Meteorological Society. She loves being a part of the Central PA community!

When Christy is not forecasting the weather, she enjoy taking photos, hiking, and traveling.

Calgary Heritage Park

This extraordinary living history museum on the Glenmore Reservoir riverbanks features historic buildings and genuine artifacts displayed to create four distinct time periods in Canadian history: 1864, 1880, 1910, and the 1920s to 1950s including horse-drawn transportation, antique cars, and staff in period dress. Not unlike a movie set made entirely of historic life-sized artifacts, Heritage Park is one of Calgary’s most popular attractions.

Day 6: Jasper

Enjoy a scrumptious included breakfast on the train this morning as you awaken to the picturesque scenery of the Canadian Rockies. For better views of the majestic and unspoiled wilderness, make your way to the top floor for panoramic views from the Skyline car. We arrive in Jasper by late morning. There is time to explore Jasper’s quaint downtown before we ascend the Jasper SkyTram and take in expansive views of the Canadian Rockies atop Whistler Mountain.

MEALS B+D

1 night in Jasper Day 7: Icefields Parkway

Breathtaking scenery borders our route today along the Icefields Parkway. This beautiful area is famous for the glacial blue waters of its many lakes nestled among the mountains. At the Columbia Icefield, we board a giant Ice Explorer that carries us onto Athabasca Glacier.

MEAL D

2 nights in Banff

Day 8: Banff

This morning we enjoy a tour of the Banff area. Take in breathtaking views during lunch at the historic and grand Fairmont Banff Springs hotel. The afternoon is ours to explore this unique mountain town.

Day 9: Discover Calgary

Begin the day with a retired Royal Canadian Mounted Police meet-and-greet to hear stories and learn about the iconic Mountie uniform before we travel by motorcoach to Calgary. Step back in time as we visit Canada’s largest living history museum. Calgary’s Heritage Park isn’t a museum where history stays behind the glass.

The interactive exhibits, costumed interpreters, historic buildings, and hundreds of working antiques are waiting for us to touch, smell, taste, hear, and see how the West once was. Tonight, reminisce with new friends at our Holiday Vacations Farewell Dinner.

Two Scenic Ferry Rides

Ride on ferries that, from the inside, resemble shopping malls more than boats. One ferry goes from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay off Vancouver Island, passing by the lovely Gulf Islands on the eastern side of Vancouver Island that’s sheltered from the face of the ocean. The other ferry goes from Victoria, crossing the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the inter- national border into Washington State. Get classic vacation vibes as we float by quaint, evergreen-dotted islands with idyllic sandy beaches and isolated inlets. On both rides, enjoy cafeteria fare, coffee, snacks, gift shops, and observation lounges.

The Butchart Gardens®

Robert Butchart depleted limestone deposits from a quarry on Vancouver Island. With an empty lot on their hands, his

wife Jennie transformed it into the famous Sunken Garden. From 1906 to 1929, the garden expanded to include Japanese

and Italian style gardens as well as many stunning rose gardens. Now there are over 900 kinds of flowers that bloom

every year with over a million visitors annually to witness them. Enjoy an included lunch at this beautiful garden.

Activity Level - To help evaluate if a tour is right for you, Holiday Vacations has designed a rating system that identifies a tour’s average activity level.

LEISURELY ACTIVITY LEVEL ○●○ ○ ○ Activity levels have five ranks ranging from

“Relaxing” to “Active”. On a tour rated “Relaxing,”

expect to climb some stairs, navigate slight slopes, stand for reasonable periods of time, and walk over relatively level conditions. On a tour rated “Active”, expect a high activity level with challenging conditions, lots of walking, uneven surfaces, and possibly high altitudes.

Holiday Vacations guests must be able to navigate airports with their own luggage. Airport personnel can provide wheelchair assistance upon request.

Guests must also be able to handle their own carry-on bags on airplanes, on and off motorcoaches, and to and from hotel rooms.

Checked luggage will be delivered to and from guests’ hotel rooms on their behalf. If a guest requires mobility assistance, they must be accompanied by an able companion who is totally responsible for providing the guest’s necessary assistance. Holiday Vacations does not provide personal attendant services. All activity level ratings are relative to each guest’s individual levels of fitness and mobility. Holiday Vacations is unable to determine your travel health and fitness level. Please consult your doctor when evaluating your ability to travel.

Carry-On Bags - In addition to your checked luggage, you may bring one carry-on bag and one personal item, such as a camera bag or purse, per person. These items are your responsibility to handle. For your convenience, the carry-on bag is intended to be used for items you need on a daily basis. We recommend using a small day bag, such as a soft-sided backpack, which would fit into the overhead bins of the motorcoach. Bags with wheels are not suitable as a carry-on bag in Europe where the motorcoaches have very limited space. Regulations imposed by the European Union do not allow carry-ons on the motorcoach that do not fit in the overhead bins. Some airlines are now charging fees for carry-on bags.
