Campus Mail Box vs. Parcel Box
h
You are assigned a key for your campus mail box. All items that fit in this box are deposited there.
h
Large items that do not fit are placed in parcel boxes. These are the large boxes at the bottom of your mail section.
h
A parcel box key will be placed in your campus mail box if item delivered is too large.
h
This unique key has the number of the parcel box where your large item was deposited.
h
Use this key to unlock the parcel box and retrieve your large item, leaving the unique key in the lock so the UH Postal employee can retrieve it.
h
If for any reason the unique key can still be pulled out of the parcel lock, please deposit it into one of the outgoing mail slots.
Accountable Mail
Accountable mail consists of any items containing a tracking number. Your signature is required for these items. This type of item can be from any of the following vendors:h
USPS – Express Mail, Delivery Confirmation, Signature Confirmation and/or Certified/ Registered items
h
UPS – Next Day Air, Second Day Air, Ground Service
h
FedEx – Next Day Air, Second Day Air, FedEx Home, FedEx Ground
h
DHL
Accountable mail/ large parcels can be picked up from the designated pickup area in your residence hall. (See next page for locations.)
An email is sent to your email account from UH Postal Services when you receive any accountable mail. If you are expecting any trackable parcels or large items, you should check your email account on a daily basis. A total of three email notifications are generated for each package. A 4th email for the same package indicates the parcel is being returned to sender for non-response.
h
If you have a scheduling conflict concerning parcel pickup hours, email postserv@central. uh.edu concerning your scheduling conflict referencing your tracking number.
h
You must be a current student resident in one of the UH residence halls to receive mail on campus.
h
All incoming items must contain your full given name. The name on the package must match your Cougar ID card. For example, if a parcel is shipped to your campus address, addressed to John Smith, and your name is Alex Jones, UH Postal will refuse the package and return it to the sender.
