CHILDREN MINISTRY HELP

Children's Ministry is off to a great start this year! We could use your help - due to COVID, we have had to switch the types of snacks and treats we keep on hand and our supplies are running low. Donations of individually packaged bags of gold-fish, pretzels, non-chocolate candy, or gummy fruit snacks would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

STUDENTS AND PARENTS

We’re excited to be getting back into a bit of rhythm lately. Although this weekend is a long break from school, we’re still planning to have youth and confirmation today. Regarding confirmation starting, don’t worry if you’ve already made plans to be out of town. Although we are still start-ing confirmation today, your student won’t be behind or miss anything dire. As always, please reach out to Logan if you have any questions!

SKYLARK ANNUAL WALK

On Saturday, March 6, Skylark will host its annual Walk for Life. The Walk for Life is a fundraising event to support the mission of Skylark, which is to save souls, save babies, and transform lives in our communi-ty and Southeast Georgia. Skylark is a Christ-centered ministry dedicated to advancing the Sanctity of Human Life. The outreach ministries that will directly benefit from the Walk for Life include their Medical Clinics, Mobile Unit, and BRAVEheart Teen Initiative Program. We would LOVE for you to be a part of our 2021 Walk event! If you are interested in spon-soring a walker or walking yourself, please contact the church office at churchoffice@wesleyssi.org.

SPARROW’S NEST

As we start of 2021, would you consider a donation to the Sparrow’s Nest food ministry, which provides

food to needy families in Brunswick? The box for non-perishable food items is located outside Paige’s office near Celebration Hall. Please be care-ful to check your expiration dates on goods donated. Canned vegetables, canned fruit, cereal, peanut butter and jelly, and Spaghettio's are all popular needs at the food pantry. The Wesley family has continued to be generous donors to this Faithworks’ ministry. Please consider dropping off something this month!

SPREAD THE WORD

Wesley UMC welcomes all

announcements related to the life of the church. Why not share remind-ers or plans of upcoming events for your ministry or class? We’ll include your 80-90 word (or less) announce-ment in the bulletin. Just send your article by noon on Mondays to emily@wesleyssi.org.

WELCOME VISITORS

Visitors who would like to learn more about Wesley may stop by the breezeway following any worship service to receive information and a warm Wesley welcome! Be sure to bring your completed connection card.

ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE

This Wednesday, February 17, is Ash Wednesday and marks the begin-ning of the Lenten season. Because of Covid-19, we will need to do the imposition of the ashes in a slight-ly different way. This year, Pastor Jerry will not be able to impose the ashes on people’s foreheads as we are accustomed to. We have a concern that if Pastor Jerry imposes the ashes on one person's forehead, it may inadvertently transfer the virus to another by touching another person's forehead and so forth. Instead, Pastor Jerry will sprinkle a very small amount of ashes on the top of the head. This is an alternate, but biblical means of "imposing" the ashes. This

is a very common practice around the world. In fact, in Italy, this is the only means that the ashes are im-posed on Ash Wednesday. Please join us this Wednesday at 6:30pm for this solemn and reflective worship service as we begin our journey to the Cross and . . . Easter!

MUSIC AT WESLEY

We are happy to have Ella Grace Arens join us today as our anthem soloist. Ella Grace is a fifth-grader at St. Francis Xavier School and is a vocal student of Mrs. McIlrath. In ad-dition, our own Pastor Jerry & Mrs. Gina Roe will be singing the Lord's Prayer in the place of the congre-gational response. We are blessed

to have so much talent at Wesley! If you're a singer, consider joining the choir! We are gearing up for Easter and would love to have you.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY STAFF

Thank you to our Children’s Ministry staff. These ladies are absolute rock stars and make our job so much easier and more fun. They are working so hard every week to make sure your kids have a safe and clean environment where they can learn about God. They are not often seen outside of the classrooms, but we assure you that Sundays would not be possible without them. They really are amazing, and we are so thankful for each of them.

+OPENING PRAYER

Please stand when "+" is indicated.

Let us pray. | Almighty God, shield of the oppressed, hear us as we pray for the friendless and the lonely, the tempted and the unbelieving. Be merciful to those who suffer, in body or in mind, to those who are in danger or distress, and who have suffered loss. Let your love surround the infirm and the aged. Be especially near to those who are passing through the valley of death. May they find eternal rest, and light at evening time; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. +AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

The Apostles' Creed UMH 881

Let us affirm our faith. | I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was cru-cified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
