ARCHICAD 19 is now faster than ever!

No more waiting for views to load.

GRAPHISOFT has extended its robust

64-bit and multi-processing technologies

with background processing – an industry

first for BIM. So ARCHICAD now offers

lightning-fast response times and this

turbo-charged update to ARCHICAD

makes it the undisputed speed

leader in the BIM business.

Background Processing

ARCHICAD 19’s new background processing generates

nearly instant model views.

Most of the time, your computer’s processing capacity is fairly uneven. That’s because different kinds of computing processes are needed to support the architectural design workflow. Tasks requiring more processing capacity are interspersed with tasks that are not so demanding, so your workflow may appear to speed up… and slow down.

Only ARCHICAD 19 takes advantage of unused computer capacity by anticipating what you might do next and preparing for those actions in the background. This “second guessing” greatly increases the overall responsiveness of the application, so it feels more agile with projects of any kind or size. That’s the dramatic difference you’ll notice between this next-gen technology and standard BIM software without background processing. The results speak for themselves. In ARCHICAD 19, it takes up to 70% less time to open BIM-based 3D views - depending on the complexity of the design project and the workstation you’re using. And the opening time for all model-based sections, elevations or 3D Documents has dropped by up to 50%.

Thanks to these innovations, opening and switching between various model views will happen almost instantly. No more waiting for a view to load. So you’ll save time and enjoy a smoother workflow. And you’ll be able to focus on design, instead of worrying about your workstation.

Performance

Smoother/faster 3D navigation

with OpenGL

By optimizing OpenGL, ARCHICAD 19 ensures smooth

and lightning-fast navigation - even on extremely

large building models.

We know that architects like to use ARCHICAD’s 3D model window for informal client presentations. This model window uses the so-called “OpenGL” engine. And because ARCHICAD 19 uses a fully optimized OpenGL engine, you’ll get smoother, faster 3D navigation, free from flickering—even with extremely large models.

Point-Cloud Support

ARCHICAD 19 reads point-clouds, providing faster,

error-free building surveys by using the latest 3D

scanner laser-survey technology.

Refurbishment projects typically start with a time-consuming building-survey phase that may involve manual measurements and the creation of a digital building model. But now 3D scanners – representing the latest technology innovations – can generate “point-clouds” containing all the necessary geometry information of an interior, including its volutes and ornaments.

ARCHICAD 19 can read the most commonly used point-cloud file formats and create the corresponding 3D geometry instantly. So you can align your design with automatically-generated, 100% accurate point-cloud 3D geometry information.

This surveying workflow dramatically reduces the time spent on surveying. And it eliminates errors due to manual data input. Some typical real-life examples of how users put 3D laser survey and point-clouds to work:

• Modeling existing buildings before renovation.

• Modeling the surroundings prior to creating a new building. • Modeling the “as-built” structure to detect deviations from plan.

Intuitive surface editing - Interactive 3D

Surface Painter

ARCHICAD 19 enables intuitive, drag-and-drop

editing of the building model surfaces in 3D

-providing instant visual feedback.

Creative design is instantaneous and may also be truly impressive during client presentations. Intuitive drag-and-drop building model surface editing in 3D provides instant visual feedback. ARCHICAD’s new Surface Painter lets designers change model surfaces in the 3D window with a single click, using a floating palette.

Improved Mac and Windows experience

ARCHICAD 19 provides major work environment improvements for both Mac and Windows users.

Brand-new tab-based navigation, familiar from the Web, makes accessing different views and overseeing BIM projects much easier. Plus, true full-screen mode makes ARCHICAD 19 feel like the most natural BIM application on the Mac.

ARCHICAD 19 for Mac

ARCHICAD 19 introduces the Tab Bar for Mac users, while providing the latest graphic user interface enhancements available. You can use the unified/single window interface to support the full screen usage option as well as taking advantage of other improvements provided by MAC OS X 10.10 (Yosemite).

• ARCHICAD can be more easily resized on the screen or switched to full screen mode with a single click.

• Architects can access the project’s file path from the header.

• All palettes are docked to the main window of ARCHICAD, helping users to find their way on the screen, when switching between multiple running applications.

Work Environment

ARCHICAD 19 for Windows

ARCHICAD 19 introduces the Tab Bar for multiple viewpoints. You’re already familiar with tabs from web browsers, so there’s nothing new to learn. By taking advantage of faster background processing, the Tab Bar allows speedier switching among Floor Plans, Sections, Elevations, and 3D windows.

Thanks to the Tab Bar, designers can access various project views almost instantly in an organized manner. Background processing support makes it possible to switch fast - no need to wait for rebuild times between views.

Intuitive workflow enhancements

ARCHICAD 19 makes the most time-consuming (and

boring) part of an architect’s work much more fun.

Permanent Guide Lines

Brand new Guide Lines, Snap Guides and Snap Points provide

permanent graphical aid for accurate element creation and

editing.

Listing enhancements

Listing skin areas in interactive schedules helps users schedule

the area of any skins from composite structures.

Annotation improvements

The Pointer for Dimension Texts helps you dimension narrow

structures that are close to each other by automatically adding

pointers when dimension texts are re-positioned.

PDF Improvements

ARCHICAD 19 ensures that layouts get exported together with

their visible layers. By implementing a truly WYSIWYG - “what

you see is what you get” - solution, ARCHICAD 19 ensures that

only the visible layers will be included in the created PDF.

Leading the Way in

ARCHICAD 19 allows users to import the IFC model

exactly as it looked in the original application in

which it was created: “perfect geometry, minimal

attributes.”

Improved interoperability functions

IFC Spaces will always be converted to editable ARCHICAD Zones

by retaining their original geometries; ability to override

materials and representation styles of IFC model elements; IFC

data mapping with library part independent GDL parameters;

customizable property update function; and faster IFC data

handling in IFC Manager.

Improved Collision Detection

Collision detection – using the separately-purchased MEP

Modeler add-on - now works with all MEP-type elements

and all imported IFC MEP model elements regardless of

which MEP application exported the IFC model. Collision

detection performance has been improved; it produces

results considerably faster using multicore CPU basis to avoid

slowdowns of your computer.
