Integration of Activity-based Modeling and Dynamic Traffic Assignment for the Chicago Metropolitan Area Integrating the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) Activity-based Model (CT-RAMP) with Dynamic Traffic Assignment (DYNASMART) considering day-to-day integration for long-term planning and on-line integration for incident management. By integrating dynamic transit assignment and intelligent sampling strategies for choice genera-tion, a consistent multimodal integration between the ABM and the DTA is the main goal of this project.

Information Diffusion and Attitude Formation in Social Networks The objective of this research is to present a model of social network-based attitude diffusion system in the context of activity and travel choice behavior.

Time Use and Activities in Virtual WorldsCo-P.I.: The goal of this project is to examine and model the travel and time use influences of individuals within

social relationships in virtual worlds and their influences on time use in real worlds, as virtual and real worlds converge with each other.

Analysis of Network and Non-Network Impacts upon Traveler Choice: Improve Modeling Accuracy for Better Transportation Decision Making

Co-P.I.: This study analyzes traveler choice and behavior changes due to program areas such as Active Transportation and Demand Management (ATDM), Dynamic Mobility Applications (DMA), and Integrated Corridor Management (ICM), as well as operations management in connection with adverse weather (Weather Related Traffic Management).

Analytics from Pricing to Sourcing for a Third Party Logistics Company

Co-P.I.: An analytics project for a third party logistics company to develop an online computer program to assist brokers in making better decisions. The program optimizes the company’s expected profit on a rolling horizon based on their historical shipments.

KITE: A knowledge base for intermodal passenger travel in Europe P.I.: Developing, tendering and conducting a pilot survey about intermodal long-distance travel and a follow up stated preference questionnaire in three European countries with a total sample of 3,750 interviewed persons. Analyses of the data in comparison with other long-distance surveys. Generation of choice alternatives for the different journeys using web-robots.

Mobility plan for the university area of Zurich Co-P.I.: Conducting a web-based survey of 5,000 persons to evaluate different travel demand scenarios for the future. Analysis of the timetables of all students at ETH to optimise the use of the university infrastructure.

Assessing possibilities of travel behaviour change during life course tran-sitions P.I.: A methodological and empirical study: Developing a new survey to combine classic mobility questions with biographical questions and questions about the social network. Organizing and training 10 interviewers to conduct 300 face-to-face interviews.
