The Riverside is a beautifully appointed Georgian country house situated in Ashford in the Water in the heart of The Peak District National Park in what has to be some of the most breathtaking scenery in England.

Ideally positioned for many interesting walks and visits to grand stately homes and country estates such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall. Every day can offer something different to do or place to discover.

Alternatively simply relax with a good book by roaring log fires in one of our comfortable lounges, and enjoy the simple pleasures of rest and relaxation where good service and attention to detail is the order of the day.

The Riverside Room Restaurant has a choice of three completely different styles of room to dine in. Each with fabulous antiques, rich fabrics and interesting design features to match your mood.

Head Chef, John Whelan, has compiled exquisite menus using only the finest produce obtained locally and from across Europe and has an enviable reputation for creative cuisine.

A real passion for wine is clearly evident with over 200 bottles in the current cellar which is growing steadily each year as we discover

more wines. In addition many rare and delicate wines are laid down awaiting discovery. The restaurant is ideal for intimate private dining, family gatherings and corporate events.

Whatever the occasion you can always be assured of good food, fine wine and a genuinely warm attentive service.

All the bedrooms at the Riverside are completely individual in style, design and function. Many enjoy exceptional architectural features such as beams and exposed roof structures which all too often are changed or hidden in many period properties.

The comfortable arm chairs in the bedrooms sit by windows overlooking the varied gardens as the river Wye sleepily meanders gently by with the only interruption being the occasional duck splash landing in the river. Garden rooms with their own private patios are always popular where you can sit and sip a chilled Pimms or blush

The Riverside has two meeting rooms available for boardroom and business meetings, both of which enjoy large amounts of natural sunlight and are exceptionally quiet.

A wide selection of support facilities are available if required. Ranging from transport, secretarial services and an ever expanding selection of projectors and presentation displays to suit each meetings requirements. All meeting rooms are accessible from lounge areas and have a high level of quality and comfort in beautiful furniture and soft furnishings.

Special interest breaks are available at The Riverside and cover a

wide range of traditional country pursuits. The Hotel offers two-day packages which are tailored to specific pursuits, inclusive of accommodation, dinner and breakfast.

The River Wye, which is considered one of Derbyshire’s finest game-fishing rivers, runs past the Hotel and is easily accessible to the resident fisherman. Superb fishing can be enjoyed on either bank where our native Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout present a good challenge to all fishermen. Chef will even cook your trout for you, the end to a perfect day.

A morning of falconry can be organised in the hotel gardens. This is an exciting and educational day in more ways than one with aerial displays, instruction and hands-on activities. An introduction to a variety of raptors, this is ideally suited to company occasions and corporate entertaining. A minimum of two weeks’ notice is required.

Falconry

The Peak National Park is ideal for mountain biking with a two day cycling break. Maps, mountain bikes and packed lunches are available for guests. You can ride away into the sunrise discovering hitherto areas of the Derbyshire Dales that you never knew existed.
