Function: Allows the DAC’s USB input to accept Hi-Resolution audio files including DSD & DSX

Installation of this software is required to accomplish a USB connection with both DSD and 32-bit/384kHz performance between your computer and your MOON 380D DSD DAC or MOON 430HA’s optional DAC. As well, there are certain configuration requirements for your music playing software. There are 2 required drivers: the “MOON USD HD DSD Driver’ and the “MOON USB HD DSD ASIO Driver” which are installed onto your computer in a one-step installation procedure. Make sure that your MOON component is connected to your compuer with a USB connection during the entire installation procedure

If you are using a MAC OS-X (v10.6.4 or higher) based computer, you do not need to do any of the following since your operating system provides native support for the USB interface - it is already equipped to realize the maximum potential of this interface for digital audio playback.

Installation:

For all versions of Windows, run the following file: MOON_USB_HD_DSD_Audio_Setup_1.0.57.exe

Follow the on-screen installation instructions until you reach the “Completing the MOON USB HD DSD Audio Setup Wizard” dialog box and click “Finish”. Then you must configure several windows Control panel settings. Make sure that

your MOON DAC is connected to your computer via USB.

Note: If you have previously installed our “USB HD Driver” (non DSD), you do not need to uninstall it from your computer before proceeding with the installation of this “USB HD DSD Driver”.

J-River Media Center settings

To play DSD files with J-River Media Center, you will have to change several settings in the “Tools” Æ “Options” section. For “Audio Device” you must select the “MOON USB HD DSD {WASAPI] as shown below

Then you must make the following changes for DSD Support in the Settings section for “Bitstreaming”: Select the “Custom” option and a new dialog box will appear, where you must check-off the DSD box.

foobar2000 settings

To play DSD files with foobar2000, you are required to have the following three drivers installed on your computer; The previously described “MOON USB HD DSD” driver, an ASIO output driver and the SACD Decoder driver. The following instructions assume that you have already installed both foobar2000 and the “MOON HD USB DSD driver”. Make sure that your computer is connected to your “MOON USB HD DSD” DAC via a USB cable.

Download the ASIO output plug-in for foobar2000 from www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_out_asio. Save the

file “foo_out_asio.fb2k-component” onto your computer. Then Double-click on this file to start installing the ASIO output driver, following the onscreen instructions:

foobar2000 will launch and a dialog box will appear. Click on the “Yes” button to proceed with the installation of the “foo_out_asio” component package:

Finally click on the “OK” button in the small dialog window to restart foobar2000:

Upon restarting foobar2000, select File Æ Preferences Æ Components and verify that “ASIO Support” (foo_out_asio) appears in the “Installed Components” window:

Download the latest version of the SACD Decoder plug-in for Foobar2000 (foo_input_sacd-0.*.*.zip) from the following

website: sourceforge.net/projects/sacddecoder/files/foo_input_sacd/. Then uncompress this zip file and go to the

Double-click on this file to start installing the SACD Decoder, following the onscreen instructions:

Then, in the same folder, double-click on the file named “foo_input_sacd.fb2k-component”:

The foobar2000 “Installed Components” window appears; click on the “Apply” button on the bottom right corner:

Then click “OK” to restart Foobar2000:

Finally, when you look at the “Installed Components” list (File Æ Preferences Æ Components) you will see the Super

Now that everything required to play DSD files with foobar2000 has been successfully installed, we need to configure foobar2000 for DSD playback using the “preferences” menu.

First go to “File Æ Preferences Æ Playback Æ Output” and from the “Device” pull down menu select “ASIO:foo_dsd_asio” and click “OK”.

Then click “OK” to restart Foobar2000:

After foobar2000 restarts, return to the same location on the “Preferences” page where you just were; “File Æ Preferences Æ Playback Æ Output Æ ASIO” :

Finally, click on “SACD” directly below Tools (left window), set the “ASIO Driver Mode” to “DSD” and click “OK”.
