MASS INTENTIONS

For the Week of June 6, 2021

Welcome to the

Church of the

Holy Spirit!

To anyone visiting, new to the area, looking for a spiritual home, or are curious about the Catholic Faith, you are most welcome to join our parish. In communion with the Roman Catholic Church, our parish is united in faith in Jesus Christ. It is a place to grow spiritually through the Sacraments, placing faith in action in serving God with one’s whole heart, soul, mind and strength and by loving one’s neighbor.

Please remember in your daily prayers all the sick and homebound of our Parish, especially:

Joseph Meehan, Kim Giglio, Lisa Giglio, Anna Simonsen-Meehan, Salvatore Bonina, Susan Wilcox, Alessia Dragonetti and Anne Yaggi.

If you would like your name or the name of a loved one to be included in this list, please contact

the parish of ice.

CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME TO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH THROUGH THE

SAVING WATERS OF BAPTISM:

(3)

While I am always mindful of the entire Holy Spirit Parish

community, parishioners who have lost a loved one due to the virus are especially in my heart. I would like to invite you to join me – either in person or in spirit on June 11th at 7 PM in the Church for Vespers, an Evening Prayer where we will remember those who have died this past year from the pandemic. We will be praying in solidarity with the Bishop and Parishes throughout the diocese for the repose of the souls of those who are deceased and for the consolation of their families. I would like to invite the families of our parish to provide us with the names of loved ones who have died due to the pandemic so their names can be read aloud during the service. Please use the form on our website to add the name(s) of your family members and friends you wish to be remembered. To access the form,

please visit our website: www.holyspiritstamford.org and click the Service of Remembrance roving

banner, or you are welcome to call the parish of ice (203) 322-3722. Fr. Suarez

My Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

While the effects of the pandemic are still very much felt in our lives, I believe that we are approaching the light at the end of the long tunnel. Under the

guidelines of the CDC and the State of Connecticut, the bishops of Connecticut “have decided to end the general dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation in person in each of our respective dioceses (CT Bishop’s Statement on the Eucharist).

In the words of Pope Saint John Paul, “the observance [of attending Mass] should be seen as a need rising from the depths of Christian life. It is crucially important that all the faithful should be convinced

that they cannot live their faith or share fully in the life of the Christian community unless they take part

regularly in the Sunday Eucharistic assembly. The Eucharist is the full realization of the worship which humanity owes to God, and it cannot be compared to any other religious experience.” (JOHN PAUL II, Apostolic Letter, on Keeping The Lord’s Day Holy Dies Domini, 81).

Although we rejoice in the return to Mass, we should also be mindful that our Mother the Church has always

recognized there are situations where a Catholic is unable to attend Mass due to health concerns, this holds true
