Modern Finance Drives Insight with

Oracle Financials Cloud

Hardware and Software

Engineered to Work Togeth er

CFOs at the helm of modern finance organizations are allocating a tremendous amount of analytical focus to identifying and influencing profitability across all dimensions of the business from customers and products to geographies and sales channels to gain insights on where to invest in new initiatives that can boost growth.

Oracle Financials Cloud is a 100 percent open, standards-based set of integrated financials modules that is much more than just another financial application. Unlike traditional financial systems that consider decision support and intelligence as an afterthought, Oracle Financials Cloud delivers unprecedented business insight to all users. Its revolutionary reporting platform and native business intelligence set the new standard for finance and fundamentally change the way finance professionals work.

“CFOs continue to focus on [providing] real-time reporting to drive operational excellence, but more progress is needed. A sizeable minority [42%] still delivers data that is a month old or more.”

Empowering Modern Finance: The CFO as Technology Evangelist.

SUMMARY

(2)

There are different reporting needs within the finance organization. The CFO needs professional-quality financial statements, financial analysts need to analyze ledger balances, and other users need to perform ad hoc transactional queries.

A common complaint from all these professionals is that the data is dispersed across multiple sources and is outdated, inaccurate, and time-consuming to gather.

Oracle Financials Cloud delivers a state-of-the-art reporting platform that is natively built on top of an analytic data model. Single-step posting from

transactions to the analytic data model ensures consistent, timely, and accurate information for both management and external reporting. All the reports work off the same data source and support drill-downs to live source transactions. All queries and reports are accurate up to the minute, providing multidimensional analysis without the need for a separate data warehouse.

Accessing information is different in Oracle Financials Cloud. Users no longer need to depend on IT involvement to create reports or queries. Finance users can gain access to live financial reports and report snapshots through a secure, self-service reporting center. Other users can easily create their own ad hoc transactional queries using predefined business views that use common business language specifically designed for nontechnical users to understand.

Result: Live access to information how and when

users need it.

INSIGHT FOR EVERYONE

Intelligent Decision-Making

“The advantages of implementing Oracle ERP Cloud are the benefits that our users will get from the general ledger. The information is easily accessible, at their fingertips.

They have access to business intelligence reports that they can interrogate themselves and drill down when it’s convenient for them. And we see that as a real winner at Reading.”

Finance users, especially those doing heads-down data entry, often have limited information to complete transactions. Studies show that users can waste up to 25 percent of their day searching for data, and companies can spend the equivalent of 10 percent of salary expenses on employees performing ineffective searches.

Unparalleled User Experience

“Oracle ERP cloud is an exciting tool from many standpoints. The fact that it’s cloud based and I can access it from anywhere is thrilling.

It’s flexible enough so I can create reports ad hoc by easy click and drag motions, rather than building a tree. And the reporting is real time.”

— Kristin Klingvall, California Academy of Sciences Oracle Financials Cloud reduces time spent on ineffective searches by arming

users with the precise information they need at the right time. Configurable, role-based dashboards consolidate information from a variety of sources, consistently monitor processes, and push exceptions to various finance roles so they can take immediate action. Users know exactly what they need to do just by logging in. With Oracle Financials Cloud, the system does more of the thinking for you by providing real-time intelligence within the context of a business transaction to guide your decisions.

Result: Better decision-making by all users.

Revolutionary Information Access

“One of the best parts of reporting is the way that data is summarized with tree-like capability, allowing you to see data at any level of detail and actually seeing the balances. This goes way beyond some of the things I’ve seen in other software.” — Pam Bateman, Emerson

Finance organizations are constantly trying to find ways to be more productive and to do more with less. Unfortunately, transaction processing still dominates much of finance’s workload. Oracle Financials Cloud dramatically lowers the costs of resource-intensive tasks. Native spreadsheet technology provides a natural extension to transactional entry to support high-volume data entry across most finance functions. Innovative out-of-the-box imaging integration dramatically improves invoice processing and eliminates the need for costly third-party

solutions. In addition, Oracle Financials Cloud is designed to work the way finance users work on a daily basis. All pages are configurable and optimized for the most productive user experience.

Result: Less time spent on menial tasks and

more time on value-added activities.

Oracle Financials Cloud is designed to work with other Oracle Applications Cloud Services and your existing applications portfolio, such as Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle’s PeopleSoft applications, to evolve your business to a new standard of performance.

An example of this design philosophy is Oracle Revenue Management Cloud, which provides insight to Controllers for revenue forecasting, revenue managers for fair market value calculations, and auditors for US GAAP compliance. Oracle Revenue Management Cloud has a tight integration with E-Business Suite R12, and also has the ability to integrate with other Oracle applications such as PeopleSoft as well as with third-party systems.

Result: Adopt Cloud solutions in a phased approach to

meet your business needs.

“ We don’t go about raising revenue for our organization, they do, and so our job is to support what they’re doing. Oftentimes, that support looks like data and information that helps them to make better decisions. The tools we have with Oracle ERP Cloud really help us to do that more efficiently, and to provide data that we just weren’t able to provide before.”

Vice President Finance, Curse

I selected Oracle ERP Cloud because of its flexibility, integration, and modern state-of-the-art look to it. It can grow along with the Academy. It has potential to incorporate other modules that we don’t currently have.

And it certainly puts us in a much better position to do things better.
