Trade and Industrial Certification Programs

Cosmetology

(1,800 hours)

The Cosmetology Certificate program is an 1,800 clock hour, 15-month training program that includes supervised hands-on experience with real clients, a professional 150-hour internship opportunity and salon management training. This comprehensive certificate course of study meets all of the requirements necessary for graduates to qualify for the:

• Ohio State Board of Cosmetology’s Salon Operator licensing examination

• Ohio State Board of Cosmetology’s Salon Manager licensing examination

• National Career Readiness Certificate from American College Testing (ACT)

Industrial Welding Technology

(1,350 hours)

The Industrial Welding Technology Certificate program is a 1,350 clock hour, 12-month program that prepares adults to become industrial welders. Students have the opportunity to gain multiple certifications including:

• American Welding Society D1.1 Structural Steel Welding Certifications

• American Society of Mechanical Engineers Section IX Pressure Pipe Certification (all positions)

• IC3 Certification

• OSHA-10 Certification

• First Aid and CPR from the American Heart Association • A National Career Readiness Certificate from American College

Testing (ACT)

Adult Basic Literacy Education

(ABLE)

Offers free classes to any adult who wishes to:

• Upgrade skills • Prepare for the GED test

Assessment Center

A Pearson VUE authorized test center offering cutting-edge certification exams including GED® testing. Register online at

The center also provides a variety of assessment instruments to measure skills for:

Financial Aid

Tri-County Adult Career Center programs which are 900 hours and greater are approved for Pell Grants. To determine eligibility, contact our student services supervisor to schedule an appointment. Students may also be eligible for other benefits from sponsoring agencies for the programs. Job placement assistance is available.

Students should show up for class unless otherwise contacted by an Adult Career Center representative. If a class is canceled, a full refund will be issued to any student who has made a previous payment. Admission is open to anyone with a high school diploma or GED, regardless of race, color, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, religion, sex, economic status, age, disability, military status or on the basis of legally acquired genetic information.

Health Occupations Certification Programs

Medical Assisting Technology

*(1,350 Hours)

The Medical Assisting Technology training is a 1,350 clock hour, 12-month certificate program. In addition to the skills learned in the classroom, valuable real work experience is gained through a 247-hour clinical site placement in a medical facility. Students have the opportunity to gain industry recognized credentials including: • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from American Medical

Technologists

• Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist from the National Healthcareer Institute

• Bloodborne Pathogens and Emergency Oxygen Administration from the American Safety and Health Institute

• First Aid and CPR from the American Heart Association • A National Career Readiness Certificate from American College

Testing (ACT)

Nursing Assistant

(110 Hours)

The Nursing Assistant training is a 110 clock hour, 3-week certificate program. A clinical experience will be provided in both a home health care site and a long-term care facility. Throughout this comprehensive course of study, graduates will have the opportunity to earn industry recognized credentials including: • State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) recognition

from the Ohio Department of Health

• First Aid and CPR from the American Heart Association • A National Career Readiness Certificate from American

College Testing (ACT)

Pharmacy Technician

(300 Hours)

The Pharmacy Technician Certificate program is a 300 clock hour, 4-month program that provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work in multiple pharmacy settings. In addition to classroom training, students complete 40 hours of clinical training in a local pharmacy to gain hands-on experience. In Ohio, all pharmacy technicians must be certified or state-tested to perform most pharmacy-related duties. This comprehensive certificate course meets all of the requirements necessary for graduates to qualify for: • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s Certified
