A token for people who want to do more
The world is on the verge of non-reversible destruction because of the ever increasing carbon footprint. Many people are sensitized about this. How about you?
Do you want to make a contribution to the world while also gaining money?
PlantCoin is a community driven cryptocurrency that offers people the ability to help with the environment while also gaining money from it!
We focus on helping people get rich and contribute to the fight against the climate change simultaneously with a simple way, just by buying the PlantCoin token. And if you want to actively help the Earth by planting trees we will pay you for it!
1. Introduction – The problem
The global warming that’s changing our climate is already having dire consequences for all of us.
In just the past few decades we have witnessed major events like: Rising temperatures have worsened extreme weather events. Chunks of ice in the Antarctic have broken apart.
Wildfire seasons are months longer.
Coral reefs have been bleached of their colors.
Mosquitoes are expanding their territory, able to spread disease.
And these events are just the beginning of the climate change effects experts say we are going to face. The climate is changing rapidly for the worse to the point that Earth may become an inhabitant planet.
1.1 What’s causing these harmful changes? It’s mainly us.
We humans are the ones who burn fossil fuels and chop down forests, causing average temperatures to rise worldwide. That global warming trend is increasingly disrupting our climate — the average weather over many years.
Earth has already warmed by about 1 degree Celsius, or 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit, since the 19th century, before the industry started to boom.
The Greenhouse Effect is a natural phenomenon that is critical for life as we know it. Greenhouse Gases (GHGs)—which include water vapor, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and several others—are present in relatively low concentrations in the atmosphere, but, because of their ability to absorb and re-radiate infrared energy, they trap heat near the Earth’s surface, keeping it much warmer than it would otherwise be. The atmospheric concentrations of GHGs have increased over the past two centuries as a result of human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels—coal, oil, and natural gas—for energy. The increasing
concentrations of GHGs are amplifying the natural greenhouse effect, causing Earth’s surface temperature to rise. Human activities have also increased the number of aerosols (small liquid droplets or particles suspended in the atmosphere). Aerosols have a wide range of environmental effects, but on average they increase the amount of sunlight that is reflected back to space, a cooling effect that offsets some, but not all, of the warming induced by increasing GHG concentrations.
1.2 But why?
Well, isn’t it pretty obvious? Corporations are moved by one thing: money of course.
With corporations getting greedier all the time, Earth pays the price! The Australian bushfires of 2019-2020 are the latest example of the imminent destruction our planet faces. The Australian bushfires have been categorized by most an aftereffect of climate change. Just by this specific destruction we have witnessed extreme weather effects all over the world, thousands of species nearing extinction and pollution spreading everywhere in Australia and islands around causing massive health problems to people.
2. The solution
2.1 What can we do about it?
Most people will argue that regulating all countries and organizations around the world is the only way to avoid the destruction of our planet. But this is easier said than done. Many countries refuse to actively regulate their activities due to the wealth they gain from them. These activities include farming, development, and industrial activities. Unfortunately, this is not something we can do anything about except if you are into politics.
For those who want to do something, there will always be a way!
~ Jack, PlantCoin team member So the other viable solution is to rebuild what “evil” organizations destroy. And that can be achieved through… trees!
Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity.
Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines. Have you ever taken Aspirin? It comes from the bark of a tree!
There are the six main reasons we need trees to survive:
AIR
Trees help to clean the air we breathe. Through their leaves and bark, they absorb harmful pollutants and release clean oxygen for us to breathe. In urban environments, trees absorb pollutant gases like nitrogen oxides, ozone, and carbon monoxide, and sweep up particles like dust and smoke. Increasing levels of carbon dioxide caused by deforestation and fossil fuel combustion trap heat in the atmosphere. Healthy, strong trees act as carbon sinks, offset carbon, and reducing the effects of climate change.
WATER Trees play a key role in capturing rainwater and reducing the risk of natural disasters like floods and landslides. Their intricate root systems act like filters, removing pollutants and slowing down the water’s absorption into the soil. This process prevents harmful waterslide erosion and reduces the risk of over-saturation and flooding. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Association, a mature evergreen tree can intercept more than 15,000 liters of water every year.
BIODIVERSITY
A single tree can be home to hundreds of species of insect, fungi, moss, mammals, and plants. Depending on the kind of food and shelter they need, different forest animals require different types of habitat. Without trees, forest creatures would have nowhere to call home.
- Young, Open Forests: These forests occur as a result of fires or logging. Shrubs, grasses, and young trees attract animals like black bears, the American goldfinch, and bluebirds in North America. - Middle-Aged Forests: In middle-aged forests, taller trees begin to outgrow weaker trees and vegetation. An open
canopy allows for the growth of ground vegetation preferred by animals like salamanders, elk, and tree frogs.
- Older Forests: With large trees, a complex canopy, and a highly developed understory of vegetation, old forests provide habitat for an array of animals, including bats, squirrels, and many birds.
SOCIAL IMPACT From arborists to loggers and researchers, the job opportunities provided by the forestry industry are endless. We don’t just rely on trees for work, though. Sustainable tree farming provides timber to build homes and shelters, and wood to burn for cooking and heating. Food-producing trees provide fruit, nuts,
berries, and leaves for consumption by both humans and animals, and pack a powerful nutritional punch.
HEALTH
Did you know that hospital patients with rooms overlooking trees recover faster than those without the same view? It’s impossible to ignore that feeling of elation you get while walking through a calm, quiet forest. Trees help reduce stress and anxiety and allow us to reconnect with nature. In addition, shade provided by tree coverage helps protect our skin from the ever-increasing harshness of the sun.
CLIMATE Trees help cool the planet by sucking in and storing harmful greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide into their trunks, branches, and leaves — and releasing oxygen back into the atmosphere. In cities, trees can reduce ambient temperatures by up to 8° Celsius. With more than 50% of the world’s population living in cities — a number expected to increase to 66% by the year 2050 — pollution and overheating are becoming a real threat. Fortunately, a mature tree can absorb an average of 48 lbs of carbon dioxide per year, making cities a healthier, safer place to live
2.2 Where PlantCoin fits in all this.
We thought about how we can contribute to this community by saving the world by planting trees and have come up with an idea.
We will reward people that plant trees where they are needed the most. The PlantCoin team will distribute a new cryptocurrency that uses a unique mechanism of returning money to the people that have it and also contribute to the planting of trees all over the world. That way we motivate people to buy our currency and also get paid by an activity that benefits us all. We don’t want people just being activists. We want people to do the right thing and reward them for it!
How do we do that? We tax each transaction made with our tokens so that a small percent is returned to the people holding the token and another small percentage is donated to people planting trees. (more on this in the next chapter)
How this is done?
We encourage people to create a small project about where they are going to plant trees, how many, and why this is a good location. After this proposal has been submitted and reviewed by our team, we will announce public voting where holders of the PlantCoin token will decide which project will get the amount requested for the plantation. If the amount gathered so far exceeds the amount requested by the project that has been voted then the
amount is kept to the liquidity pool and decided by another voting how to be used. This mechanism motivates users that want to take action towards acting and simultaneously getting paid.
3. Tokenomics
Let’s get into more details of the PlantCoin token.
PlantCoin uses a nowadays familiar mechanism for its procedures called reflection mechanism used already by many other coins (see the ElonGate token for example). This mechanism rewards holders of PlantCoin tokens without them doing anything! It’s like a passive income for our holders. The tokens of all holders (except the team and liquidity pool) will automatically increase with each transaction made.
More specifically each transaction will trigger a % tax where the % is rewarded to all holders and the rest % goes to the contributions that people will make by planting trees.
Important reminder: The contributions will be decided solely by a majority vote from our active community. When the voting is finished, we will conduct an on-site announcement of the selected project along with the details of the plantation procedure.
The initial PlantCoin token distribution will be:
1. Total supply of 100.000.000.000.000 PlantCoin tokens that are minted once at the creation of our token and stays the same. (no extra mint or burn processes) 2. Out of these tokens, an initial burn process will occur for 40% of the tokens. 3. Our team will keep an initial amount of 10% of the tokens to use solely for marketing, business, and logistics operations. Also, an additional 5% will be despersed to the PlantCoin team.
4. The rest of the tokens (45%) will be offered for a fair public sale on the PancakeSwap platform on the Binance Smart Chain.
4. Plant a tree procedure
We encourage everyone from our community to actively contribute to our cause. Everyone who is already a PlantCoin holder will be able to submit a project where they are planning to plant trees and WHY. The location and benefits of the specific location are of the utmost importance to consider a project valid for contribution. People interested in submitting a project will have to fill our form from our website and send it to our team for evaluation. Later an interview will follow with one of our experts to better know the person behind the project. If the interview goes well, the project will be listed on our website and be available for the next voting procedure. Please take note that a member of PlantCoin will be present during the project that is decided by the community and will supervise (and help of course) with the whole process. This is a failsafe mechanism to avoid PlantCoin being scammed by people promising false projects. The media of all completed projects will be shown on our website as soon as possible (this will also help with our marketing).
We have decided also that ONLY people who already possess PlantCoin tokens of a certain amount and above (to be decided by the community) will be eligible to submit a project so that we avoid the devaluation of PlantCoin.
In the very early stages of PlantCoin, and in the unlikely case that no project is eligible for voting, the funds gathered by the community (through transactions) will be given to the “onetreeplaned” organization since it is an organization that the
PlantCoin team knows and supports. Alternatively, we can donate (if the community decides it) to teamtrees and show publicly our donation.
5. TL;DR
PlantCoin is a community-driven, fair-launched Defi Token that is used for fighting climate change by actively engaging users to build trees around the world and get paid for it! PlantCoin uses a reflection mechanism to reward PlantCoin holders and gather money to pay the activists that plant trees.
Let’s plant a tree together! Let’s make the world a better place for all of us!
