HOW WILL

I LEARN?

Elective Modules

Participants choose two electives from the following choices in the final semester of the programme.

• Innovation and Technology Management

• Strategic Customer Management

• Enterprise Sustainability

• Project Management

A live case study constitutes the central theme for both Innovation and Technology Management and Strategic Customer Management. The live case study is supplied by a participating corporation on a real business issue with the MBA students implementing the latest theories and frameworks to compile solutions in the form of a management report to be used by the company.

Learning Approaches

The DIT learning approach is about creating an environment that allows for dynamic interaction between module deliverers, practitioners and participants.

Small class sizes allow for discussion and analysis of core concepts and theories. Our expert faculty facilitate peer discussions, allowing participants to share experiences and discuss how they could apply what they learn to their current role.

You will learn through;

• Presentations and discussions with expert faculty

• Engaging, real-life case studies

• Interactive peer discussions

• Leadership seminars

• Problem-solving challenges in small groups

• Computer-based simulations

• Applied in-company projects

Learning Groups

Throughout the DIT MBA programme participants are required to work as part of a learning group. Group mem-bers are encouraged to discuss issues arising from lectures and case studies and to work together on assigned group projects. Group learning in this manner contributes to the personal growth of individual participants, by helping them to develop valuable interpersonal and relationship skills. Groups are changed throughout the programme to ensure a constant balance between skills, experience and interests.

The MBA has helped me to better understand not only the fundamental workings of business but also cutting edge business techniques and attitudes. I feel that it has improved my confidence to make management decisions, to be a strong leader and I look forward to the possibilities it will create in my future career.

Laura Kennedy

Product Manager, A. Menarini (MBA 2011)

One thing that surprised me was how much I learned from my fellow MBA students. Their senior management experience trans-lated into the classroom discussions as well as the group projects.

Engaging with fellow MBA students in the group projects exposed me to a range of other business and management perspec-tives. I also gained invaluable insights into differing project management styles. Peter Blake

Key Themes

At DIT we believe that an MBA programme

is the perfect platform for enabling managers

Management and Leadership

Today’s managers need a broad array of knowledge and skills to succeed. In addition to developing knowledge of core concepts and theories and acquiring toolkits to help them in vast array of situations, participants will also develop essential management and leadership skills throughout the programme. A dedicated Leadership Development Programme will provide opportunities for participants to enhance specific skills and to develop a career plan for their future.

Global Business

Central to the DIT MBA is a focus on worldwide business operations and the skills and insights required by managers operating in a global marketplace. This international focus is prominent throughout the programme with each of the core business modules maintaining a global outlook. Modules such as Global Strategic Management and Strategic Operations Management, develop the participants understanding of busi-ness strategy and the challenges for competing in the global economy from an executive decision making perspective.

Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship is a key determinant of competitive advantage. Participants on the DIT MBA will be introduced to intrapreneurship and entrepreneurship, enabling them to add value to existing and new business ventures.
