❖ CALL TO WORSHIP from Psalm 72 Leader: Praise be to the LORD God, the God of Israel,
who alone does marvelous deeds.
People: Praise be to his glorious name forever;
may the whole earth be filled with his glory.
❖ BLESSED BE YOUR NAME
Matt Redman and Beth Redman
Blessed be your name in the land that is plentiful
Where your streams of abundance flow, blessed be your name Blessed be your name when I'm found in the desert place Though I walk through the wilderness, blessed be your name Every blessing you pour out I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in Lord, still I will say Chorus:
Blessed be the name of the Lord Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord Blessed be your glorious name
Blessed be your name when the sun's shining down on me When the world's ‘all as it should be, blessed be your name Blessed be your name on the road marked with suffering Though there's pain in the offering, blessed be your name Every blessing you pour out I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in Lord, still I will say (Ch) You give and take away, you give and take away My heart will choose to say
Lord blessed be your name (Repeat) (Ch 2x)
❖ PRAYER OF ADORATION
❖ AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Westminster Shorter Catechism Leader: How did Christ humble himself?
People: Christ humbled himself in his being born,
and that in a low condition, made under the law, undergoing the miseries of this life,
the wrath of God, and the cursed death of the cross; in being buried and
continuing under the power of death for a time.
Leader: How is Christ exalted?
People: Christ’s exaltation consists in his rising again from the dead on the third day, in ascending up into heaven,
in sitting at the right hand of God the Father, and in coming to judge the world at the last day.

OCTOBER 3, 2021
THE NINETEENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST
❖ MAN OF SORROWS
Matt Crocker and Brooke Ligertwood
Man of sorrows Lamb of God, by his own betrayed
The sin of man and wrath of God has been on Jesus laid Silent as he stood accused, beaten, mocked, and scorned Bowing to the Father's will he took a crown of thorns
Chorus:
Oh that rugged cross my salvation Where your love poured out over me Now my soul cries out hallelujah Praise and honor unto thee
Sent of heaven God's own Son to purchase and redeem And reconcile the very ones who nailed him to that tree (Ch)
Now my debt is paid, it is paid in full
By the precious blood that my Jesus spilled Now the curse of sin has no hold on me
Whom the Son sets free, oh is free indeed (Repeat) (Ch) See the stone is rolled away, behold the empty tomb
Hallelujah, God be praised he’s risen from the grave (Ch)
PRAYER FOR CHRIST’S CHURCH AND THE WORLD COME, YE SOULS BY SIN AFFLICTED
Kevin Twit and Joseph Swain
Come ye souls by sin afflicted Bowed with fruitless sorrow down By the broken law convicted
Through the cross behold the crown Look to Jesus, look to Jesus, look to Jesus Mercy flows through him alone
Take his easy yoke and wear it
Love will make your obedience sweet Christ will give you strength to bear it While his grace shall guide your feet Safe to glory, safe to glory, safe to glory Where his ransomed captives meet Blessed are the eyes that see him Blest the ears that hear his voice Blessed are the souls that trust him And in him alone rejoice
His commandments, his commandments
His commandments then become their happy choice Sweet as home to pilgrims weary
Light to newly opened eyes Like full springs in deserts dreary Is the rest the cross supplies
All who taste it, all who taste it, all who taste it Shall to rest immortal rise
Look to Jesus, look to Jesus, look to Jesus Mercy flows through him alone
✢ PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty God, we come to you in sorrow for our sins, and to humbly confess to you our unbelief.
While we know and believe that Jesus died for us on the cross and that he was raised for us from the dead,
we admit it often makes little difference in our lives.
Forgive us, we pray.
Enable us to fully embrace the truth of the gospel:
that our love for you may flourish,
that our obedience may be wholehearted and joyful, and that our witness may be more courageous.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our risen Savior and triumphant Lord. Amen.
❖ WORDS OF ASSURANCE from Psalm 91
Leader: When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble, I will rescue them and honor them and show them my salvation.
Receive the good news of the gospel.
People: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.
❖ RESCUER
Chris Llewellyn, Benjamin Hastings, Bryan Fowler, Gareth Gilkeson, and Rend Collective Experiment
Chorus:
He’s our rescuer, he's our rescuer We are free from sin forever more
Oh how sweet the sound, oh how grace abounds We will praise the Lord our rescuer
There is good news for the captive, good news for the shamed There is good news for the one who walked away
There is good news for the doubter, the one religion failed For the good Lord has come to seek and save (Ch)
He is beauty for the blind man, riches for the poor He is friendship for the one the world ignores
He is pasture for the weary, rest for those who strive For the good Lord is the way, the truth, the life Yes the good Lord is the way, the truth and life (Ch)
So come and be chainless, come and be fearless Come to the foot of Calvary
For there is redemption for every affliction Here at the foot of Calvary (Repeat) (Ch) We will praise the Lord our rescuer
❖ THE PEACE OF GOD
Leader: The peace of the Lord be always with you.

C ELEBRATION OF H OLY C OMMUNION
FIRST COMMUNION (9:00) Sara Cate Knapp
Communion is an opportunity for all of us to seek the Lord. It is an occasion for baptized Christians to be strengthened by our Savior. All who trust alone in Christ as Savior and Lord, belong to (and are in good standing with) a church that embraces the gospel, live at peace with their neighbor, and seek strength to live more faithfully are welcome to partake. If you are not a Christian, please consider spending this time in prayer.
Minister: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
Minister: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up unto the Lord.
Minister: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People: It is right to give him thanks and praise.
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING & WORDS OF INSTITUTION Minister: Let us proclaim the mystery of faith:
All: Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again.
Minister: Christ, our Passover, has been sacrificed for us.
People: Therefore, let us keep the feast.
Minister: The gifts of God for the people of God.
Come and feed on him in your hearts by faith with thanksgiving.
Please let an usher know if it is difficult for you to come forward;
we would be happy to serve you at your seat.
All communion bread is gluten-free.
Prayer of Seeking Truth Lord Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth and the life.If what you claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open to me the reality of who you are.
Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. Give me an understanding of you that is coherent, convincing, and that leads to the life that you promise. Amen
Prayer of Belief
Lord Jesus, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever before believed, but through you, I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared to hope. I thank you for paying my debt, bearing my punishment on the cross and offering forgiveness and new life.
Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and receive you as my Savior. Amen.
❖ AMAZING GRACE
AMAZING GRACE, Traditional American melody, John Newton
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now am found Was blind but now I see
Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come
'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far And grace will lead me home
The Lord has promised good to me His Word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be As long as life endures
And when this flesh and heart shall fail And mortal life shall cease
I shall possess within the veil A life of joy and peace
When we've been there ten thousand years Bright shining as the sun
We've no less days to sing God's praise Than when we've first begun (repeat)
❖ BENEDICTION from Zephaniah 3
Minister: The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save,
he will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
People: Thanks be to God. Amen.

Disciple Making Workshop: Having Intentional Gospel Conversations in the Personal Space
Teachers: Andrés Zelaya and Jaime Jimenez
The last command Jesus gave the church was the call for Christians to “make disciples of all nations”. But how do we effectively disciple both not-yet-Christians and Christians? Through this workshop, we’ll discover why making disciples is at the very heart of God’s work; the stages and steps of spiritual development;
how to have Gospel conversations; and practical tools to create intentional followers of Jesus.
