GOVERNOR’S MESSAGE

ADMINISTRATOR’S CORNER

WOTM NEW MEMBERS

I can’t believe it’s November already. I think the older you get, the faster time goes by. Guess I’m getting old.

So far this year has been very successful for the lodge in many ways. We (you) have won the Moose International Premiere award for overall management and fulfilling all the objectives and requirements necessary. It should be noted that only one other lodge in the District won this prestigious award. We were awarded several Superior ratings for community service during the past year. We have exceeded our goals for membership the last three years and have increased our rolls by over 125 new members. Additionally, our business side of the house has been fantastic with steady growth during a time of economic hardship. This is a testament to you, the members, who support all our efforts. Least we not forget, the Women of the Moose who, over the past several years, have done an

“Outstanding” job. We would not be where we are without the never-ending support they provide. Thanks!

Thanks to the member whose support makes all the above possible. We are the best Lodge in Virginia and in the U.S. of A.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Mike Toomey Governor

We raised $2,111.82 at our golf tournament. Thanks to all the golfers and our sponsors. Thanks to Jon and Ellen Howard for taking pictures; Kim Stephens for working the Double Your Money Hole”; and Gerry Campbell, Mike Moore, Rick O’Connor, Mark Kidd, and Rick Moore for fixing the steak dinner.

Thanks to Ken Grimm for cutting the grass, Don Truslow for repairing the air conditioner, Justin Moriarity for changing the smoke eater filters, Don Martin for installing the water heater, and all who volunteer their help everyday.

The car bragging rights event was a success with lots of neat cars.

and “goodies” for our military men and women in Afghanistan.

The WOTM meetings will be held on the second and fourth Mondays of the month and will start at 7:00 p.m. Ladies, please attend the meeting on November 8 . Mary Crawford will receiver her Red Stole that night. Few women receive this high honor

th

which represents both dedication and hard work for the Chapter. Everyone is invited to attend the ceremony. We will have a reception afterwards. We request that the women bring hors d’oeurves and snacks.

We will sponsor another baked goods raffle on Sunday, November 21 , during the Redskin game. Ladies, please bring

st

baked or store-bought items.

On behalf of the board, we would like to thank everyone who participated in the Children’s Fashion Show. We raised

$800.50 for Children’s Cancer. Participants included: Peggy Ratcliff, Nellie Sacra, Stephenie Collins, Todd House, Brian Morse, Eva Hatch, Laura Terrell, the sponsors, parents, grandparents, and friends. The children were the stars of the show. A big thanks to Zoe, Serenity, Alexis, Shayla, Alyssa, Jasiah, Tristan, Kaela, Cayla, Lilyana, Lijan, Kelly, Kim, Brandon, Margaret, Amanda, and Alexis. If I missed anyone, I apologize.

We had a wonderful time at the Family Picnic, The Fire Department came out to give the children fire safety pointers, showed them the uniform that they wear, and gave them a tour of the fire engine.

The Penny Party was a fun-filled night. Thank you, Sandy Hawkins. You and your committee did such a great job.

Thanks also to our members who donated items, cut pennies, and participated in the setup and auction.

The Halloween Party continues to be a special event. We love the time when we celebrate the holidays with our children.

Thanks for your contributions. The children had a great time.

Members, please hold onto your clothing as your go through your closets. The women will be collecting clothing after the Christmas holidays. Exact dates have not been established but we will be sponsoring a clothing drive and will be feeding the homeless early next year.
