IBM®WDT with Web Development Extension for Power Systems Software™ includes IBM WebSphere®Application Server Developer Tools for Eclipse and IBM Web Development Extension for Power Systems Software. IBM WebSphere
Application Server Developer Tools for Eclipse is a lightweight set of tools for developing, assembling, and deploying Java EE, OSGi, Web 2.0 and Mobile applications to WebSphere Application Server V8.5, V8.5 Liberty Profile, V8.0 and V7.0. IBM Web Development Extension for Power Systems Software provides tools for developing web applications using JavaServer Faces and the Apache Struts framework as well as tools for developing portal applications.

Eclipse workbench requirements
You can install IBM WebSphere Application Server Developer Tools for Eclipse into an Eclipse workbench that is already installed on your computer.
Your Eclipse workbench must meet either of the following requirements: v Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers 3.6.2 (Helios) with latest updates:

Tip: To get the latest updates for Eclipse: 1. Start Eclipse.
2. Click Help > Check for Updates.
3. Follow the prompts in the wizard to install the updates. v Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers 3.7.2 (Indigo) or later.

Runtime environment for Java (JRE) requirements
The required JRE depends on the features that you are installing:
If you are installing any of the WebSphere Application Server Tools features for versions 8.5, 8.0 or 7.0
If you are NOT installing any of the WebSphere Application Server Tools features for versions 8.5, 8.0 or 7.0

Installing from the DVD or an image downloaded from Passport
Advantage
Follow these instructions if you are installing IBM WDT with Web Development Extension for Power Systems Software from a DVD or from an electronic image that you downloaded from IBM Passport Advantage®.
Before you begin
v Ensure that your computer meets the system requirements for the software that you are installing.
v If you downloaded the software from IBM Passport Advantage, ensure that you extracted the contents of the compressed files. The extracted contents are in the WDTEXT/disk1directory where you extracted the contents.
v If you want Installation Manager to search for the latest available version of the software that you are installing, ensure that you are connected to the Internet.
Procedure
1. If you are installing from an electronic image, change to directory where you extracted the contents of the compressed file and change to the WDTEXT/disk1 directory. If you are installing from the DVD, change to the root directory of the disk.
2. Depending on your user ID, complete one of the following steps:
v If your user account has authority to install software as an administrator: a. Start the launchpad:
– Windows2000 : Run launchpad.exe.
Important: If your operating system is Windows 7, then you must run launchpad.exe as administrator.
– 2000Linux : Run launchpad.sh, which is in the root directory of the
DVD.
b. Click Install IBM WDT with Web Development Extension for Power
Systems Software.
v If your user account does not have authority to install software as an
administrator:Run the userinst program:
a. If the launchpad program started automatically, stop it.
b. In a command line, run the following command for your operating system:
– Windows2000 : Run InstallerImage_win32\userinst.exe.
– 2000Linux : Run InstallerImage_linux/userinst.
IBM Installation Manager starts and opens the Install Packages wizard. 3. On the Install Packages screen, IBM WebSphere Application Server
Developer Tools for Eclipse, IBM Web Development Extension for Power
Systems Softwareand IBM Installation Manager are selected for installation. If you already have the required version of IBM Installation Manager installed on your computer, then it is not shown.
4. To search for updates to the packages, click Check for Other Versions and
Extensionsto install the latest available version. If a newer version is available, it is automatically selected for installation.
5. Click Next.
6. On the Validation Results page, click Next.
7. On the Licenses page, read the license agreements for the selected packages. If you agree to the terms of all of the license agreements, click I accept the terms
of the license agreements and then click Next.
8. If you do not already have a version of IBM Installation Manager installed on your computer, then you must specify the following installation directories and then click Next:
a. In the Shared Resources Directory field, type the directory path for installing shared resources, or accept the default path. If you are installing on Linux, ensure that you do not include any spaces in the directory path.
Important: You choose the shared resources directory only when you install your first product. Use your disk with the most available space for this directory to help ensure that you have adequate space for the shared resources of future packages. You cannot change the directory location unless you uninstall all packages.
b. In the Installation Manager Directory field, type the path for the directory where you want to install Installation Manager, or accept the default path. 9. On the Location page:
a. In the Installation Directory field, type the path for the directory where you want to install the product, or accept the default path directory. b. If you operating system is 64-bit, then select 64-bit or 32-bit to install the
product in the corresponding bit mode. c. Click Next.
10. On the next Location page, you can choose to extend an Eclipse IDE already installed on your system and add to it the functionality in the packages that you are installing.
v If you do not want to extend an Eclipse IDE, click Next to continue. v To extend an existing Eclipse IDE:
a. Select Extend an existing Eclipse.
b. In the Eclipse IDE field, type or browse to the location of the folder that contains the Eclipse executable file (eclipse.exe or eclipse.bin).
Installation Manager checks whether the Eclipse IDE version is valid for the package that you are installing. The Eclipse IDE JVM field displays the Java virtual machine (JVM) for the IDE that you specified.
c. Click Next to continue.
11. On the Features page under Languages, select the languages for the package group. The corresponding national language translations for the user interface and documentation for the product package is installed.
12. On the next Features page, select the package features that you want to install and then click Next.
v AJAX, Dojo, and HTML
Provides tools for building web applications using JavaScript, Dojo, XML, HTML, and CSS.
v Dojo Toolkit libraries
Provides the Dojo Toolkit libraries for building web applications. v JSP and servlet
Provides tools for building web applications using JSP, servlets, and HTML. v Java EE and web services
Provides tools for developing Java EE applications, including tools for enhanced validating and refactoring.
v OSGi Application
Provides tools for developing and maintaining OSGi-based applications and bundles, including tools for enhanced validating and refactoring.
v WebSphere Application Server 8.5 - Liberty Profile
Provides a lightweight set of tools for developing, assembling, and deploying applications to WebSphere Application Server 8.5 - Liberty Profile.
v WebSphere Application Server 8.5
Provides tools for creating and deploying applications for WebSphere Application Server 8.5.
v WebSphere Application Server 8.0
Provides tools for creating and deploying applications for WebSphere Application Server 8.0.
Provides tools for creating and deploying applications for WebSphere Application Server 7.0.
v JSF
Provides tools for building web applications using JavaServer Faces. v Struts
Provides tools for developing web applications using the Apache Struts framework.

13. On the help system configuration page, select one of the following options and then click Next:
v Access help from the Web
v Download help and access content locally v Access help from a server on your intranet
14. Confirm your installation summary information and then click Install. The installation process starts. A progress indicator shows the percentage of the installation completed.
15. When the installation process is complete, a message confirms the success of the process.
a. Click View log file to open the installation log file for the current session in a new window. You must close the Installation Log window to continue. b. In the Install Package wizard, select whether you want the product to start
when you exit.
c. Click Finish to start the selected package. The Install Package wizard closes and you are returned to the Start page of Installation Manager.
