live design tablet app specs

for advertisers and sponsors

There are several ways to prepare advertisements for Live Design’s new tablet app, depending on the features you wish to

include:

1. JPG or hi-res PDF for traditional art/text-based display ad with only basic functionality, such as links, added by Live Design in production

oach that lets client take full advantage of the software’s capabilities

There is no need to submit multiple versions for portrait and landscape orientations. All ads will automatically

below. Only information in the Safe Zone will be visible at all times.

AD DIMENSIONS* (optimized for iPad Retina size/resolution) Dimensions of screen: 2048 x 1536 pixels

Resolution: 264 dpi

Safe Zone (content always visible in both horizontal and vertical orientations): 1536 x 1536 pixels Visible only in portrait orientation: 1536 x 512 areas both above and below Safe Zone

Visible only in landscape orientation: 512 x 1536 areas both left and right of Safe Zone Full area of template (including all visible areas): 2048 x 2048 pixels

All content of the Live Design app will ultimately be build/exported into InDesign-based templates com-patible with software from a company called Mag+. Mag+ is a plug-in that works within InDesign to attach additional enhanced functionality (HTML, video, audio, scrolling text) to traditional InDesign layouts.

Joanne Zola | Digital Sales Manager joanne.zola@penton.com | (415)-310-2802

If you wish, you may design your ads using these tools directly. The tools are free to download at magplus.com and compatible with InDesign versions 4, 5 or 6. This approach can allow designers to create ads that take full advantage of the software’s capabilities. This includes the programs dual-layer approach, which allows content to scroll over a static background layer, allowing users to scroll hidden text into view. For advertisers, this means the ability to include multiple “pages” worth of content in one advertisement.

Examples of what other companies have done on the tablet using the Mag+ tools are available here: http://www.magplus.com/playlist/ads/ • Download tools from Magplus.com

• Training tutorials, Webinars, examples and other educational tools available for free at magplus.com • Create ad in InDesign using Mag+ template and layering/tagging in Mag+ toolbars

Tablets are devouring the PC market,

which has long been Microsoft’s playing

ground. About 120 million tablets were

shipped in 2012, nearly seven times as

many as in 2010, when the first Apple

iPad was released, according to Gartner,

a market research company. IDC, another

research company, predicts that sales

of tablets will surpass those of PCs in

the fourth quarter of this year and on an

annual basis in 2015.
