A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Holy Apostles Parish Family:
As I write this more than a week ahead due to publication deadlines, I expect us to be under an At-Home order soon. We are dealing with 10 to 12,000 cases per day in our state; 300 in our county. Our hospitals are full of Covid patients, but gratefully there is treatment and few are on ventilators and much fewer are dying.
We look to Thanksgiving with disappointment that we can-not gather with our extended family in person, so we may value the pies, stuffing, salads, turkey and sweet potatoes that someone else makes. Once we are not able to experi-ence what we take for granted, we become thankful people. This has the potential for being our most thankful Thanksgiv-ing to appreciate all the blessThanksgiv-ings we have and some we can-not enjoy this year.
I am grateful for: my family, the friends who love me, my faith, stuffing, turkey, that the Cubs won in 2016, a good hug, someone who listens, Lazy Boy chair to nap in, TV re-mote control, green beans with French fried onions, my brother, that Fr Ruben is ok, Fr. Andrew, our staff is healthy, Milky Ways, the bike path, sunrises and sunsets, people who love, nurses, teachers, police officers, all frontliners, people in grocery stores, K of C Thanksgiving Meals, Zoom, Face-book livestream, Northern Illinois Foodbank, volunteers who put food in peoples’ cars, volunteers who get the food, Thought of the Day, thousands of people who come to mass on livestream, that we are becoming more of a one between Spanish and English-speaking people, Fr. Jaramillo, people who have fed us since Covid, Aaron, the people who have stepped up to make things work despite Covid, positive think-ers, unconditional love, great music, sobriety, IPad, outside fires, time to walk, time to think and pray, courageous peo-ple, kind peopeo-ple, apple pie, pumpkin pie, whipped cream, sanitizer, good soap, long time friends, young people who are great parents, sense of humor, ice cream, people who teach me technology, kids that smile behind their masks and being more sure than ever that God will give us what we need.
Have a Blessed Thanksgiving! Father Paul

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire to receive you in my soul. Food Distribution for Those in Need
Boxes of food are distributed every Wednesday from 5 to 6 PM at Holy Apostles outside Sherry Center, on a first-come, first-served basis until all the food is distributed. It is a drive-up event to offer safe dis-tancing and is pre-packed in boxes and placed in cars. Anyone who is struggling to keep food on the table is welcome to come and receive food.Your Gift Will Help the Needy
As the pandemic continues, many families are experiencing food shortagesas they squeeze their budg-ets to pay for housing and utilities. Regular food truck deliveries are helping many, but some of those in need don't have transportation to
pick-up sites. The St. Vincent de Paul Society delivers bags of food and Aldi’s gift certificates to our neigh-bors in need. Your donations to SVdPS through Give-Central and the parish Poor Box help SVdPS meet the food needs of our community. This month, dona-tions of body wash are also appreciated.
“Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he
shares his bread with the poor.” Proverbs 22:9

Please Donate to KoC Holiday Meals
Knights of Columbus Council 1288 will again be raising funds to provide a holiday meal to those in need in our community. This will be the 13thyear the Knights will undertake this rewarding and much appreciated pro-ject. Their mission is simple: raise funds to purchase food and, through a partnership with Meijer Stores, they are able to stretch those funds raised a long way. The food is packed so that
each family receives everything they need to prepare a holiday meal. 100% of the funds raised is used to pur-chase food that benefits needy families in our own McHenry area. Any amount you can give, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated. Please make your donations through GiveCentral (there’s a link on our website tcoha.org/give/) or mail to Knights of Columbus Council 1288, P. O. Box 148, McHenry IL 60051.

Thanksgiving Prayer
This Thanksgiving, let us remember all the good things, and people, who have come into our lives. We focus on thanking each one who has helped us, and ultimately thank God for the good gifts of this world.
Let us pray... God our Father,
Graciously accept from your humble people a thankful heart and spirit.
Everything we have and are able to share with others ultimately comes from your love of your creations. Often we think that everything we have is our own creation; we ask you this day to create in us a spirit of gratitude, that we may always know that all good gifts come from you.
We ask this through Christ our brother, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

¡Viva Cristo Rey!
