HP Data Protector Express 4.0 Service Pack 1
Dear Data Protector Express User,
We are pleased to announce the new release of HP Data Protector Express
software. This release is HP Data Protector Express 4.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1). All users of Data Protector Express with a current support contract are entitled to this new version of Data Protector Express. It is delivered in the media kit you received with this letter. It can also can downloaded from HP Software Depot at: www.hp.com/go/dataprotectorexpress/download
Note to Data Protector Express 3.x Users:
If you are running Data Protector Express 3.x in order to upgrade to Data Protector Express 4.0 SP1 you will need your Data Protector Express 4.0 version upgrade license keys as well as the new software. The Data
Protector Express 4.0 license keys need to be installed in order for Data Protector Express 4.0 SP1 to function. Data Protector Express 3.x license keys are not compatible with Data Protector Express 4.0 software.
You should already have received notification of Data Protector Express 4.0, the new software and license keys. If you have not, please contact your local license key delivery center using the information at the end of this letter.

Your Data Protector Express 4.0 license keys are compatible with the Data Protector Express 4.0 SP1 software.
When upgrading to Data Protector Express 4.0 SP1 it is recommended to: Backup the Data Protector Express catalog
Run an upgrade installation on the Data Protector Express Backup Server In a multi-machine Storage Domain, once the Data Protector Express
Backup Server is upgraded, from the Data Protector Express GUI, choose ‘Configure Domain Server’ from the ‘Administration’ desk bar. Select the ‘Client Upgrade Options’ page. Choose to ‘Enable automatic upgrade of clients’ so that that the Data Protector Express 4.0 SP1 software is copied to all other machines in the Storage Domain.
If you upgraded from Data Protector Express 3.x, enter the version upgrade license keys via the Data Protector Express GUI. Make a note of the Data Protector Express 3.x license keys before they are deleted.
Data Protector Express 4.0 SP1 has the following added features, new device support and maintenance:
Added feature:
Bare Metal Disaster Recovery option Support for Windows 2008 Server and Windows Vista
All components of Data Protector Express 4.0 SP1, including the Bare Metal Disaster Recovery option, now run on Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista.
Removed feature:
Data Protector Express no longer supports Microsoft Data Protection Manager
Support for this Microsoft application is ended with this release.
New device support
No new device support has been added in this release

Maintenance (fixed issues) and other Enhancements
Version incompatibility issues introduced in Data Protector Express 4.0 for users with a Linux system in the Data Protector Express Storage Domain fixed. HP Advisory c01548338 has full details.
Resolved incorrect recognition of media capacity for some non-HP tape drives.
HP USB Mass Storage driver provided through ProLiant Support Pack supporting HP USB DAT drives connected with Windows 2003 x64 now recognized correctly.
Adds restoration of WMI data during Disaster Recovery for Microsoft Windows 2003 and Microsoft Windows XP.
Eliminated intermittent profile (.ini) corruption issue. Minor cosmetic updates.
