7. Objective of Seminar
Polymeric materials have been widely used as basic materials to prepare various kinds of functional materials such as electron element, bionic devices and so on. Studies have shown that the properties of polymers are closely related to their structures. Thus, control over these structures such as aggregation state, orientation, and alignment of to design and develop next generation materials is targeted. Also, further miniaturization and fictionalization of these materials are desired. To achieve these, further development of the techniques in polymer synthesis as well as evaluation tolls to characterize the structural properties is necessary.
Eminent scientists in Japan and Korea have significantly contributed to the field of polymer science. The research level of Japan and Korea in this field has reached to the top in the world. Through the presentation and discussion among Japanese and Korean scientists, sharing of the cutting-edge technology has been expected. The research topic concerning the development of functional polymeric materials has been certainly discussed in international conferences. However, the topics of polymer synthesis and characterization of structural properties are usually discussed in separate sections in large conferences, leading to a limited discussion. To resolve this limitation, these is need to hold these topics in a common forum. Therefore, in this seminar, we decided to cover these topics in one research meeting.
The objective of this seminar is to achieve a better understanding of these areas in polymer science by increased interactions among scientists involved in polymer synthesis and property measurements. The presentation and discussion among Japanese and Korean eminent scientists on the polymer synthesis, evaluation of self-assembled structure of obtained polymer, and clarification of the aggregation structure of polymer chains including dynamics lead to further development for this field. This seminar was also aimed at educating young Japanese and Korean scientists involved in research.
