Pupil A

A Ved du, hvorfor vi drømmer?

B Well, there are many different theories.

A Jeg ved, folk siger, at drømme hjælper os med at løse problemer.

B Yes, we often find the solution to a problem in our sleep.

B But animals dream too.

A Hvordan kan vi vide det?

B Haven’t you ever seen a sleeping dog move its paws as if it was running?

B About chasing a cat, I guess.

A Har du hørt, at man i nogle kulturer tror, sjælen forlader kroppen, når vi drømmer?

B Yes, and American and Mexican Indians thought that the soul went to meet its ancestors then.

Pupil B

A Do you know why we dream?

B Tjae, der er mange forskellige teorier.

A I know that people say that dreams help us /to/ solve problems.

A That’s why it’s often a good idea to sleep on the matter.

B - men dyr drømmer også!

A How can we know that?

A Yes, I wonder what it is dreaming about.

A Have you heard that some cultures believe that the soul /your soul/ leaves the body /your body/ when you dream?

It’s very nice, but it’s a bit too expensive for me. Can I help you?

I’d like to try it on.

I’m afraid we haven’t got that one in 14, but this one is a similar style. I’m sure it would look great on you.

Certainly. The changing rooms are over there.

This one is too small for me. Could you find me a size 14? Yes, please. Have you got this dress in a size 12?

OK, thanks. Cheers.

Just a moment, I’ll check for you … Yes, here you are.

Sorry about that. You might try our shop in Regent Street, they might still have a 14.

Dreamcatcher

Here are some facts about Stephen King based on information in Wikipedia: Stephen King is an American author who is best known for his enormously popular horror stories. He was born in 1947.

When Stephen was two years old his father deserted the family. Stephen and his older brother were raised by their mother, sometimes with great financial difficulties.

Stephen started writing at an early age. When in school, he wrote stories based on movies he had seen recently, and sold the stories to his friends. When his teachers discovered this, he had to return the money he had earned. When he was about eighteen, Stephen discovered a box of his father’s old books. They were mainly horror and science fiction stories, and Stephen immediately became hooked on these genres.

From 1966 to 1971, King studied English at the University of Maine. He took odd jobs to pay for his studies. At the University, he met Tabitha Spruce, whom he married in 1971. He took a Bachelor of Arts in English and started teaching English at Hampden Academy, Maine. During this time, he and his family lived in a trailer, and Stephen wrote short stories to make ends meet. If one of his children had to go to the doctor, Tabitha would joke, “Come on, Steve, think of a monster.”

For a decade, King had a drinking problem, but he sought help and quit all forms of drugs and alcohol. He has remained sober since the 1980s.

In the summer of 1999, King was hit by a car and had to be in hospital for three weeks. After five operations in ten days he resumed work but could only sit still for about forty minutes before the pain became intorable. In 2002. King announced that he would stop writing because his injuries had made sitting uncomfortable.

However, in 2005, King signed up with Marvel Comics to write original material for comic books.
