y delineation we mean describing ideas, thoughts and events through drawings, picture or sketches, here it is horoscope. To decipher the charts for astrological predictions is an art called "Delineation of horoscope".

An artist draws a picture to convey his feelings and expressions. On seeing that picture one can form a story, the artist had in his mind while drawing that picture. This is an art. The experienced person (means either one who knows the art or one who has by experience learnt to read such pictures etc.) can read and understand that story. Same is the case with the poem.

In ~~rologya chart depicting the planetary positions is cast for any event which has occurred, such as birth of the native or when a

query is put. An astrologer is to read such a chart and draw a picture in his mind to reveal the past and future events. This is possible after a proper study of the accurately cast horoscope. The position of planets in different vargas, the strength of the planets etc. are all to be considered. Thereafter the study of the order of the Vimshottari dasha (one of the many dasha systems) also helps in predicting event. In order to use electricity, we need two wires - one for positive and the other for negative current. The single wire will not be of any use. The double wire will help us in bringing the current to a particular switch board, from where we can light the bulb, or the fan, use heater for cooking etc. There may be similiar planetary positions in two horoscopes but the difference in dasha order may change the trend of events in the lives of the two natives concerned.

Say one has a promissory note, unless the maturity date comes, the payment is not possible.

If

there is a cheque, but after the expiry period of six months from the date of issue, the payment is not possible. There may be good yogas (combination of planets) present in the chart, unless the favourable dasha comes it is not posssible to get their results. It has been seen, that the effects of yogas are not enjoyed in full. The reason is that the favourable dasha has not come at the proper time. For example - The native having Tula lagna gets the dasha of Saturn at the early age, can rise in life and get better placement rather than getting this dash a at fag end. It is necessary to properly delineate the horoscope before giving any predicition.

Procedure to delineate:

(a) Check the degrees etc. (longitudes of the planets).

(b) Prepare vargas (divisional charts). (c) Calculate dashas and antardashas.

(d) Analyse the position of each bhava lord, i.e. ~. i~, where it is posited, how it is connected with

other planets through aspects, association or position (P.A.C.) I.

(e) The effect of the planets on the bhava either by aspect or by position.

(f) The position of the bha va lord i.e.its relationship (friendly/enmity) with the lord ~l" in whose nakshatra and navamsha it is

posited.

(g) The avastha" of planets.

(h) The rashi sandhi etc. it is said that a planet in sandhi is not capable of giving results. So also a planet whose avastha is baal or mrit is weak and cannot give its effect. A planet in last degrees (9th navamsha) of a dual sign will be called vargottam (being in same navamsha), may be in own or in friend's sign etc. but will be in rasi sandhi

or rasiant. Similiarly a planet posited in first navamsha of a movable sign will be vargottama. If it is in own or in friend's nakshatra but can be baal or vridha or mrit

(dead) avasthas so it needs proper analysis. The results have to be derived at after a

careful consideration of all the points and after a study from all angles.

Vargottam means strong. Venus in Pisces

(Meena) between 26°40' to 80° will be vargottam and also exalted (if not exact on 27°, will be near exaltation point), will be treated as strong, though it is in "rasiant"and "baal avastha" (Infant). To interpret the results of such a planet what needs is a serious consideration.

A planet is vargottama (very strong) and in mrit avastha (weakest).

FACTORS

It is not so easy either to condemn or to appreciate the position of the planet. The complete study of the horoscope i.e. to study the position of the planets and all bhavas keeping in view all the factors such as :

z, The nature and characteristics of the

planets.

H. Their karkatvas (the work, house, persons

etc. represented by the planets).

~H. The nature and characterisitcs of the sign (rashi) of which the planet is the lord and also of the sign in which the planet is posited.

w.

Their nature, characteristics and

relationship, if it is associated with other planet.

v. The nature and the characteristics of the nakshatra and its lord in which planet is posited.

For example Mars posited in Satbhisha or Aridra nakshatra. In both the cases Mars is posited in Rahu's nakshatra. Mars will inherit the effects of Rahu or will also have to act on behalf of Rahu. Aridra nakshatra falls in Gemini whose lord is Mercury. Satbhisha falls in Aquarius whose lord is Saturn. If we also take the case of Mars being posited in Swati nakshatra which falls in Libra whose lord is Venus. Will the effects in all the three cases be similiar? No! Mars is neutral to Saturn and enemy to Mercury. Mercury is neutral to Mars. Saturn is enemy to Mars. One enemy and other neutral means enemy and is badly situated. Aridra gives affection for friends and brothers, nature to do the obligation, anger and mercilessness.

Satbhisha makes the native courageous, donor and clever. He destroys enemies. Itcan be concluded that Mars in Aridra, in addition to the effects of Rahu, will give effects of Mercury's sign, Gemini (dual sign, male sign, airy sign, odd sign e tc .) and in addition the nature, characteristics, karkatwas and lordship of the bhavas of Mars. The native will be commander, of hot temperament, courageous, reasonable and just in nature (being lord of Aries and Scorpio). He will be affectionate towards own men, help the needy, merciless for the enemies (being in Aridra constellation). The person will be wise, will have more than one wife, fond of dancers and singers etc. He will have strong shoulders, broad chest (being posited in Gemini) and so on. The same method can be adopted to interpret the position of Mars in Satbhisha and Swati.

Jupiter has no planet in kendra from its position and only a malefic planet (Saturn) is posited in Trikona. In navamsha Jupiter is in Mercury's (enemy's) house with a neutral planet Saturn. Saturn is a friend of Mercury.

The following points are to be considered to assess the effects of Jupiter in Virgo (Kanya): (I,) Jupiter is lagna and tenth lord. (Two bhavas

are involved, the effects of each will be interpreted separately).

(ii) Jupiter is in seventh house, hence the seventh house is also influenced. The aspect of Jupiter on eleventh and third house, is influencing these houses.

~Saturn(neutral to Jupiter, but friend of Mercury).

f) It is said

:-"Sthanhanikaro ~eeva"the position of 'IJUPiter in seventh house will destroy the

effects of the seventh bhava.

B. Analysis:

Here we have considered few points only even though some more points are to be considered. In general, astrologers do not

consider all these points before giving

predictions. Simply read the horoscope and interpret the effects of the situation as under:

I. '£) Jupiter is the lord ofI and Xhouses and is posited in seventh.

ii) In navamsha Jupiter is posited in

Gemini.

iii) Jupiter is not aspected by any planet The prediction will be that the native will have good married life.

II. If we wish to enjoy this great science, the points discussed above may be elaborated thus:

Jupiter the lord of the lagna is posited in seventh house. There is connection between the lord of I and VII house. As Jupiter is a most benefic planet, the position of Jupiter shows happiness from the life partner (marriage). Jupiter's position in the Moon's constellation (the Moon is the lord of fifth and close friend of Jupiter) is again very good. The native will be attached to his wife. The fact that there is no malefic aspect, is all the more favourable. The Moon with Jupiter makes Gaja kesari yoga. The position of Jupiter in the constellation of the Moon shows better future after marriage.

Jupiter's position in enemy's house will be bad for the lagna and X house. Jupiter will act like Mercury (being posited in Mercury's sign) the seventh lord. Mercury is Badhakadhip ati, Jupiter may cause obstruction as regards professional rise. (Jupiter being tenth lord in 7th and the dispositer Mercury in ninth house). Carrying Kendradhipatya dosha and being posited in Badhaka house, Jupiter may cause obstructions in career. Being lord of lagna Jupiter is exempt from Kendradhipatya dosha.

Jupiter's position in kendra is the fool proof safeguard. Ifthere is any Arishta (trouble), the impact of the trouble will be reduced. Jupiter is in sixth navamsha, which is very near to the point of exaltation. (the 7th navamsha of Virgo falls in Cancer). It shows that Jupiter has gained

strength in navamsha. Jupiter is

Uchchabhilashi in navamsha chart.

In my view this method is to be adopted to clearly understand the principles of astrology.

To judge the bhavas, the delineation of the horoscope i.e the position of the lord of bhavas in various vargas (divisional charts) is also to be considered.

c.

Strength of first bhava:

To consider the strength as well as the actual position regarding the results of the bhavas, the following three points should be taken into consideration.

a) Bhava (house) b) Lord of the house

c) Karaka planet of that house

The formula P.A.C. (position, aspect and conjunction) is to be applied for

all

three points given supra.

(1,) For health of the native, the other factors

'i'!,b are also to be considered. The position of

Jupiter as discussed above shows that the lagna lord is not strong and well placed. The native, therefore, will not be in a position to do well in life, he will try to pose much, but will not get success. Jupiter will not give better results, as he is not posited well.

(ii) Lagna is aspected by the lord of the sign (Jupiter) and thus getting strength. The aspect of Saturn on lagna is not good. In navamsha the lagna falls in Mercury's sign. Jupiter is also posited in Mercury's sign in Rashi as well as in navamsha. Mercury will have more influence on the native than Jupiter. The aspect of second and ninth lord Venus on navamsha lagna is good. The lord of the navamsha lagna is

aspected by Saturn and Mars. Lagna does not show any improvement in strength in navamsha chart also. The progress in life will depend on the strength of other houses and their lords.

(iii) The Moon, a Karaka for health, sound

physique, about the general condition of native's thinking etc., is posited with Rahu in Aquarius, eclipsed in twelfth house (not good) in the nakshatra of Jupiter (good), aspected by Mars (a malefic) which is not good. Thereisno benefic aspect. In navamsha the Moon is in exaltation sign (good) but on one side a malefic is posited and on other side, with malefic a benefic ,is posited but she is between Ketu and Saturn (not very bad, mixed results). The health of the native will not be very good, may be affected during the dasha of malefic planet (which depends upon the order of dash a) , may be in advance age. There is a question mark regarding health of the native. The Sun* karaka of first

My humble submiseion is that the Moon is to be considered as karak. for the firet house while analysing the position about the health of the native. For other purposes such as the capacity to rise in life. the jteneral outlook of the native etc. can be known from the Sun taking him as karaka for first house.

The Moon is directly connected with the circulation of blood. The circulation of blood is always responsible for the upkeep of the health. The diseases concernine mind, reneral health, blood etc. are alsc governed by the Moon.

Had lagna being strong, the native would have done better in life. In this case the lagna is aspected by lagna lord, the lagna lord.is posited in kendra from lagna, Saturn aspects lagna and no benefic aspect on lagna lord. The native will be fairly strong but will have no support as there is no benefic aspect. The lagna lord is in

Paapakartari yoga. In case of health problem or any other problem, the native will face difficulties either to pull on or to solve the problems of life. he would suffer.

D. Education '.

Let us take another aspect of the life i.e. education. As advised by the learned astrologers, for education the study of second, fourth and fifth houses, karakas Mercury and Jupiter and also the ninth house is necessary.

(i) For education take the following houses and karakas:

(1) 2nd house (2) 4th house

(3) 5th house (4) 9th house

(5) 11th house (6) Mercury

(7) Jupiter (8) 2nd from Mercury

(ii) The fifth lord Moon is posited in twelfth house (sign of Saturn) with Rahu and aspected by Mars. The aspect of Saturn on 5th house is also not good. The Moon is . posited in Jupiter's nakshatra. Moon is in

41 exaltation sign in nayamsha and having no aspect, (the position has improved in navamsha).

The position of the 5th lord and 5th house in rashi chart is not favourable. The karaka Jupiter is in enemy's sign and afflicted by Saturn in navamsha and by Rahu and Ketu in chaturvimsamsa. But both are afflicted. There is exchange of houses by Mercury and Jupiter (lord of lagna and 10th house) in chaturvimsamsa. Mercury is afflicted in rashi, navamsha and also in chaturvimsamsa. The exchange oflagna lord and tenth lord of chaturvimsamsa (good), the position of ,. lagna and fourth lord Jupiter with Rahu and the position of tenth lord Mercury with Mars in lagna, disturbs education. Therefore the native may not have good education.

(iii) The native is born with the balance of Jupiter's dasha. The dasha at the time of education was of Saturn (lord of eleventh and twelfth) who is aspecting 5th house. The affliction as discussed above may result in the native's not getting any- higher education.

E. Houses Concerning Education

There is a controversy regarding the houses or bhavas concerning education, but in my opinion there is need of considering all these bhavas. My humble submission is as under: (a) Second house: The house of speech. First of all the native learns how to speak. Secondly he may be sent to school (kinder

(b) Fourth house: The native learns from the family members and the society about the

(c) Fifth house: The native has grown up and can think about his future and can plan for the prosperity in life. Here he learns from his experience gained in day to day activities and also from the incidents of others' lives. He gets education upto

'.If' graduate level (say B.A., ReoID., RE. and

MBBS -etc). This is also the house of

intelligence and planning.

After fifth house, the native gets the effects of the sixth house i.e. earning (sixth is

service, house of wealth and ARTHA

TRIKONA), then the seventh KAAM TRIKONA

the house of marriage and after this the house of marital bliss (eighth).

(d) Ninth house: It is the house of higher education i.e. post graduation

Higher education is possible only when the native is not interested / or compelled for immediate earning of wealth and marriage (activation of sixth and seventh house). Here the native becomes quite mature after doing his graduation and can understand the importance of higher education.

(e) Eleventh house: It is the house where the native starts earning, but still continues acquiring proficiency in education i,e , doctorate, M.D., M.S. etc. and also gets money through scholarship or service.

(iv) Progeny: Another aspect of human life, connected with the fifth house, Jupiter and ninth house is progeny. The analysis in the above example shows that the position of fifth house, fifth lord and Jupiter is not very favourable. The ninth house is also to be considered. The Moon is afflicted in twelfth with Rahu and aspected by Mars. Saturn afflicts fifth house also. The positions of fifth from fifth house (ninth house) Scorpio, fifth from the Moon (Gemini) and the fifth from Jupiter (Capricorn) is very good. The ninth house has Mars (second and ninth lord) in \~, own house, Mercury (fourth and seventh lord) and Venus lord of third and eighth. There is no malefic effect on ninth house and also on ninth lord.

The lord of the fifth house from Jupiter is posited in his own house and aspected by Jupiter.

(g) The position of Jupiter in the seventh house, seventh lord Mercury in ninth house with ninth lord Mars has given him a religiously elevated soul- as 'wife', If

THIRD READING

Find out the "Prarabdha" (promise in the birth chart) i.e. the events which are likely to take place in the life of the native. On the basis of the first information and thoughts received after the two steps discussed above, move further slowly to find the promise in the horoscope: (a) Lagna is Aries (house of energy). The Moon

is posited in ascendant not aspected by any planet. The Moon is of panchami tithi (fifth day of dark h alf) and nearer to sign of exaltation (uchchabhilashi). Lagna is in the Bharani nakshatra of Venus. The lagna is strong.

The lord of lagna Mars is posited in third house, in Gemini sign (Mithuna) and aspected by Jupiter (the lord of the ninth and twelfth, a most benefic and retrograde planet). No other aspect. Mars is posited in own constellation (very good position) but in enemy's sign. Though Mercury treats Mars as neutral, the aspect of retrograde Saturn will be considered from Sagittarius (an enemy's aspect), though Mars considers Saturn as neutral is not good position. The lagna lord is well posited and not very weak. The aspect of Jupiter, Mars in own constellation and Saturn being lord of a kendra are to give auspicious results.

The third factor for health is considered from the Moon (karaka for first house). It has already been discussed that the Moon is well posited and strong.

'~; Capricorn). No malefic aspect. Jupiter is the lord of ninth and aspects house of wealth. Jupiter is the karaka for second house, the aspect of Jupiter is good. Jupiter, the karaka of money is also posited in eleventh (house of gains).

The lord of the second house Venus is debilitated in Virgo (friend's house) posited in the constellation "Hasta" of the Moon (enemy). Jupiter aspects Venus (from Capricorn, Jupiter being retrograde). Saturn's aspect on Venus (from Sagittarius, as Saturn is also retrograde), is a friendly aspect. Jupiter lord of ninth and twelfth aspects second house as well as Venus the second lord, will give financial betterment. Mars in the third indicates (according to research done in 1985) that the native will be either youngest or eldest amongst brothers (Same sex). He may have sisters younger or elder to him. Mars destroys co-borns, but aspect of Jupiter being benefic provides relief.

Conclusion: The native may have younger sisters, but no brother younger to him. He will be courageous, pioneering, intelligent, reckless, adventurous, short tempered, unprincipled, essay morals, unpopular, unconquerable, virtuous, famous etc.

(d) Lord of the fourth house, the Moon is

posited in ascendant (the position of the Moon has already been discussed in previous paragraphs). The fourth house has Rahu in it and receives the aspect of Saturn. It does not give comfortable position. The lord is well placed but the house is afflicted. The karakas for the fourth house is the Moon and Venus. Venus is afflicted by Mars and Saturn, benefic aspect is of Jupiter on fourth and

karaka of the fourth house (Venus).

Conclusion: The native may face difficulties as regard fourth house matters. The problem could be with regard to conveyance, property etc.

(e) Fifth house is Leo, the lord of this bhava is posited in own sign'. The bhava whose lord is posited in own house is very strong. This is the moolatrikona sign of the Sun (lord of fifth), Mercury lord of third and sixth is also posited, which is a friend of the Sun. Jupiter (R) lord of ninth and twelfth aspects fifth, fifth lord, the Sun and also Mercury. There is no malefic effect. The combination of Sun and Mercury (Budh-Aditya yoga) is good for education and intelligence. The aspect of Jupiter enhances the auspicious results of the fifth house.

Conclusion - The native will enjoy full auspicious results. He will be educated, wise and will have children.

(f) Sixth house has Venus (debilitated) lord of second and seventh. The lord of sixth house Mercury is posited in fifth. A malefic in the sixth house, ifposited is always preferred to a benefic. There is malefic aspect of Mars (lord of lagna and eighth house) from third house. Jupiter aspects the sixth house and its' lord. Saturn aspects sixth house. There will be mixed results as regard the sixth house is concerned.

(g) The Seventh house has no planet; aspect of Jupiter, lord of ninth and twelfth which is posited in eleventh, is on the seventh house.

The lord of seventh Venus is posited in sixth and is debilitated. The seventh house receives the aspect of the Moon, the fourth lord. The aspect of Mars and Saturn on the seventh lord, causes affliction. The native will enjoy the comforts of seventh house, but some difficulty is perceived. The detailed analysis

(h) Eighth house: There is no planet in this house. The lord of eighth house Mars is posited in the third house, aspected by Jupiter and Saturn(R). There is no aspect on eighth house. The eighth house is in a good position and the lord of this house is also in a good position.

(i) Ninth house : This is a very important house. There is no planet in this house. Mars aspects this house. Saturn (being retrograde) also effects this house and aspects the lord of ninth house, Jupiter. Mars and Saturn's influence on ninth is not good. It may create hindrance for the native to rise in life. He may also face trouble from father.

(j) Tenth house has Saturn(R) and Ketu.

Saturn lord of tenth is strong, being posited in own house and is retrograde. The position

• of Ketu and aspect of Mars show some

disturbed situation. Jupiter being retrograde also influences the tenth house.

(k) Eleventh house: This is the house of gains and the lord of this house is posited in own sign which is the karmasthana (12th from own house). Jupiter ninth lord influencing the eleventh is good, aspected by third and

(1) Twelfth house has no planet. Twelfth lord, Jupiter is posited in eleventh, Venus aspects twelfth house. Saturn also aspects the twelfth lord and the house.

The further analysis in this regard will be more illuminating and elaborate than the earlier three steps.

la. Lagna is Aries (Mesha), in the sign of Mars, is in constellation of Venus and navamsha of Mars. There is no aspect on lagna. The Moon, lord of fourth (a strong Moon) is posited in ascendant, in the nakshatra of Ketu and in own navamsha. The Moon's position in lagna

is very good and auspicious. (The Moon is of fifth day of dark half or 'krishna paksha' is treated as strong and is also uchchabhilashi). b. Lagna lord Mars is posited in third house, a house of co-borns, prakrama bhava (nature of doing hard work), friends etc., in the sign of Mercury i.e . Gemini (Mithuna), in own navamsha with Mercury and Rahu and is also lord of navamsha lagna. The position of lagna lord is also very strong.

c. For judgement of any bhava the following three factors are to be considered positively

(i) Bhava or house;

(ii) Lord of the bhava or house; (iii) Karaka for that bhava;

In this case (i) and (ii) have already been discussed at (a) and (b).

classical text is "the Sun". While discussing about the health of the native and his success in life. I have found the Moon should be considered as karaka for the first house. The Sun may also be considered as a fourth factor, in case if lagna, lagna lord and the Moon all the three are afflicted. The Sun is the "soul" so it may be considered for general progress in life especially as karaka for the first house. The position of the Moon has already been considered at (a) supra.

Conclusion: The native will possess sound health, will be handsome, of good height and will make progress in life.

2a. The second house Taurus (Vrish) has no planet. The house receives aspect of retrograde Jupiter (lord of ninth and twelfth). No malefic aspect is seen. The second house is house of money, income, wealth, speech, family etc. The aspect of karaka of wealth Jupiter on second house is very good.

b. The lord of second house Venus is posited in sixth house and debilitated. The malefic aspects of Mars and retrograde Saturn on Venus is bad. In rashi chart it is posited in

:' Mercury's sign and in navasmha too in

Mercury's sign. A very good position.

c. Karaka of second house Jupiter is posited in Saturn's sign, aspected by fifth lord Sun (very good) and Mercury (enemy, not good). The position of karaka is not very comfortable. Conclusion: The native will enjoy the minimum benefits of second house. Sometimes he may face financial problems too.

3a. The third house Gemini (Mithuna) is occupied by

was transiting lagna and aspecting seventh house and fulfilled the condition

We have already discussed that Venus is also a maraka (being lord of second and seventh) posited in sixth house (of disease, accident etc.) and posited in the second from Sun the

influence of Mercury (third and sixth lord) and also in constellation of the Moon (lord of .fourth) and is afflicted by Mars (eighth lord).

Mars is lagna lord also. But for affliction on lord of antardasha Venus, the effect of Mars is considered as the lord of eighth and as a malefic only.

In navamsha also Venus is afflicted by Saturn. As per discussion of fourth house, the position of the fourth and karaka Venus was not satisfactory, so this period was a period of problems for the fourth. Venus karaka for marriage has given the result of second (ku tumbha) and seventh (marriage or life partner) but the other results of Venus i.e. lord of the maraka sthana and trouble from conveyance can also be there if there is bad transit. In transit Mars was transiting lagna, i"tO'\sfflicting Moon, lagna and fourth house.

~~at.ur n was transiting and was afflicting Venus (karaka of fourth house), Jupiter was transiting second house aspecting Venus. Saturn too was afflicting Venus and Mars (lagna lord and eighth lord). Rahu and Ketu covered the axis of fourth and tenth. Sun

transited Aquarius (Kumbha) aspected natal Sun and mahadasha nath and was also aspected by transiting Saturn.

Conclusion: As there was not much affliction to lagna, the native got minor hurt, the heavy affliction of fourth house and the karaka Venus caused a major damage to the scooter. There is enmity between M.D. N ath and A.D. Nath (Sun and Venus). Venus has occupied 2nd house from the Sun. Venus is the karaka (for conveyance) indicated bad period.

The techniques of delineation adopted here are quite useful for prediction. Further elucidation on these points of predictive techniques will be discusse d.

5 The fifth house simply has its lord Sun posited therein with Mercury lord of third and sixth and aspected by Jupiter (lord of ninth and twelfth) from eleventh house. There is no malefic aspect.

Conclusion: The fifth house shows

happiness in respect of progeny and education. He will be interested in education. He will be interested in having good status in life. The connection of third, sixth and twelfth lords shows that the native may work hard (association of third and sixth), go away from the birth place to get a better future. He will get success in competition. The connection of fifth and ninth lord shows that he had brought a balance of good karmas from past births and wil lalso do good karmas (actions) in the present birth: He will also

face difficulties and frustations because of sixth lord. Jupiter being retrograde is inclined towards the point of debilitation. But the (R) planet is the strong one. Here Jupiter being vargottama and retrograde will give

h good effects during its period.

6. The sixth house: Virgo has debilitated Venus,

the lord of second and seventh. The house receives aspects of Jupiter(R) and Saturn(R). The lord of the house has gone to fifth house (we have already analysed the position of Venus). Mars, the lord of lagna and eighth, also a sp ects sixth house. It shows that the sixth house will always be a source of trouble due to effect of twelfth and eighth lords. As regards wife the trouble will be because of Venus, karaka of 7th and lord of seventh, which is debilitated and afflicted. The aspect of Jupiter saves the native from accidents, diseases and also from facing marital discord. Mars and Saturn are malefics affecting the sixth house. Saturn is an inauspicious planet for this lagna.

7. The seventh house: Libra has .no planet.

The Moon aspects the seventh house(good).

c! The aspect of Jupiter also enhances the good

effects of the seventh house. The aspect of Saturn may cause delay in marriage.

The lord of the seventh Venus debilitated in sixth (house of disease and of enemy), is afflicted by Saturn and Mars. However, the

Conclusion: He will have happy married life. He will be getting maraka effects of Venus. Venus does not kill directly. The association of sixth, eighth and twelfth and the effects of Saturn and Mars may cause accidents to him or diseases to his wife. The aspect of Jupiter will always shower saving grace on him and reduce the impact of the malefic effects.

8. The eighth house: has no planet and does not receive any aspect. The lord of eighth Mars is posited in third, eighth from eighth, in Mercury's sign (enemy sign), but aspected by Jupiter (good) and Saturn(R) (bad). This shows again that the native may have danger to life through sudden accidents. The eighth house indicates events which happen all of a sudden or unexpectedly.

9. The ninth house Sagittarius has no planet posited therein but the aspect of Mars, a malefic is bad. Mars as lord of eighth is bad, but as a lord of lagna is very favourable. The lord of the ninth Jupiter(R) posited in ~ eleventh is aspected by the fifth lord the Sun (good). The aspect of Mercury the third and sixth lord and the effect of Saturn(R) is bad. Conclusion: The lagna lord Mars posited in third and aspects ninth and tenth. This means the native will be interested in making his future and will be self made. The aspect of tenth lord Saturn will make him more serious and successful. The aspect of ninth

lord Jupiter on lagna lord means he would get support from father .

. 10. The tenth house: Capricorn is occupied by its own lord Saturn (good). The position of Ketu in tenth and the eighth aspect of Mars . on tenth are not good. But this will make the profession of the native technical. There will be hindrances in the career.

11. The eleventh house: Aquarius has Jupiter, the lord of ninth and twelfth, aspected.by lord of fifth the Sun (good) and the third-sixth lord Mercury (not good). Mercury is also friend of Saturn. The lord of eleventh Saturn is in its own sign, in tenth with Ketu and afflicted by Mars. Here again Jupiter and Sun are giving hope of good results, but the eleventh lord Saturn is badly afflicted.

12. The twelfth house: Pisces has no planet posited therein. The house is aspected by Saturn (a malefic) and Venus (a benefic but enemy). This sign is the sign of exaltation for Venus. Therefore the aspect of Venus will be good. The lord of this house is posited in eleventh receives aspect of Sun, Mercury and Saturn(R). The twelfth house and its lord both are aspected by malefics and benefics, the result will be mixed.

The aforesaid analysis has given us the general idea about the trend of events likely to occur during the life of the native in respect of twelve houses. For further elaboration and clarity another method of delineation will be discussed hereafter .

3

NAVAMSHA VARGA

T

h e vargas are used for the confirmation of the results arrived at after the analysis of the twelve houses.

1. Each varga represents one house out of the twelve houses. For example navamsha for

spouse, dwadasamsha for parents,

saptamsha for children or progeny and so on. The descriptive use of vargas for shaping and confirming the prediction will be discussed in chap ter 5.

2. Another major use of vargas is to find the strength of the planets. According to the classical texts if a planet is posited in auspicious vargas, will give good results or adverse results if in inauspicious vargas. To

measure the VIMSOPAKA STRENGTH of

the planets in Shadvargas (six divisions) i.e. Rashi (D/l), Hora (D/2), Decanate (DI

3), Navamsha (D/9), bwadsamsha (D/l2) and Trimsamsha (D/30). Each varga is given 6, 2, 4, 5, 2, 1 number of points respectively out of the total of 20 points.

finding out the effects of the navamsha in which the planet is posited.

Importance of navamsha:

z. This varga (divisional chart) gets highest point in vimshopaka after rashi chart.

H. This is the only varga which causes to attain

the status of "vargottama" when a planet is in the same sign, both in navamsha as well as in rashi chart. It means best in vargas or very strong.

tH. The verdict of navamsha is supreme as :

The position of the planet in navamsha is considered final than to the position of that planet in rashi chart.

Example:

(a) Ifa planet is exalted in rashi chart but debilitated in navamsha chart, the result will be bad because of debilitation. The planet will be treated as debilitated;

.(b) Ifthe planet is debilitated in rashi chart and is exalted in navamsha chart, it will give good results i.e. of exaltation, will be treated like exalted planet.

The navamsha is Sookshma Sareera (Astral body) whereas rashi chart is Sthoola Sareera - Pancha Bhoota {physical body - made of five elements - earth, air, water, fire and

,1>. 'ether (akash)}.

The physical body describes general things apparently visible about the native, whereas the astral body describes the real nature, intention, inclination, aptitude, character etc. of the native. This can not be known from the appearance and by general talks with the native. It needs close observation.

The navamsha chart, if studied properly reveals real characteristics and the spiritual strength in the native.

Use of navamsha

The importance of navamsha has been discussed. The use of navamsha chart for delineation of the horoscope is as under-(i) The first house: Lagna is in Aries and falls

in Scorpio navamsha . This means the lagna is strong. The lord of lagna Mars is in Mercury's sign and is in own navamsha. This is again a' good position. The Moon is in ascendant and is unafflicted. In navamsha

Whether he will have sound health or not? The looks or appearance and structure of its 8J > face etc. are governed by this house.

(b) Another aspect which is most

important is to look for the native's capacity to work, his ambition, general feelings, temperament, whether he will be hard working or otherwise?

The combined effect of these planets will provide a clue. The ascendant of chart i~ movable, while in n avamsh a the lagna is a fixed sign. The r asi sign is fiery and in navamsha, the sign is watery, both are inimical to each other and are not conducive. The effect of Mars is maximum and the effect of Mercury and Saturn is also there. (d) The first house is the key point for interpretating the results of other eleven houses and for giving successful predictions. Only theoretical knowledge of this science will not give successful predictions. It is found by every astrologer, in his experience, that many a time the result do not come according to the combination of planets i.e. yogaspresent in the chart. The reason is that the astrologer has not looked into the aspect of"Prarabdha" and the intention, capacity,

desire, ambitions etc. which cause "Prerana"

man is free to act, prarabdha gives him inspiration to commit a sin or to do a good deed. It is for the native to take a proper decision. If he decides properly and simultaneously carries out remedial measures and remains vigilant, he will not fJl

suffer, rather will be able to reduce the bad results and will surely enhance the good results. He will get success. As in this case under discussion the first house shows a multiple combinations due to effect of six planets. The planets will have their good or bad effects according to their natural characteristics. These effects only give him ideas, inclinations etc. The other houses are concerned with the events of life which they represent.

Let us say marriage: The combination of the planets, seventh house and Venus etc. indicate early marriage. The native can have, if he wishes to go for marriage. Ifhe is interested in education, for a higher career and wishes to concentrate for his better position before marriage, the marriage will not take place. We have also seen the cases where the native is very much interested in marriage, there is favourable situation for marriage in the horoscope, but the marriage does not take place. A question arises, "why".

It is very clear from the study of the first house if done properly. The native has made a picture in his mind for the selection of the

'~f; spouse. Ifhe is not getting the spouse of his choice there will be delay. According to astrological principles he has no choice here. The pairs are already determined. These are made in heaven. If the choice of the native is for the life partner, who is perchance fixed for him (destined), he will marry the same person. Otherwise he will have to wait till he comes in contact with a person destined for him. Here the role of the first house is to indicate vitality, ambitions and thinking etc. which playa major role. (ii) Second House: The second house has no

planet, in turn asp e c te d by retrograde Jupiter, the ninth and twelfth lord and a karaka for second house. The lord of second house Venus is debilitated, posited in nakshatra of the Moon (enemy) and the sign of Mercury (a good and deep friend). Saturn an other friend aspects Venus. The aspect of Mars (a neutral), on Venus has its own role to play. Jupiter also aspects Venus (good). The second house has effect of Venus, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter and the Moon. The lord of second is posited in navamsha of Mercury (better as nearer to own sign, away from debilitation and in the friend's house).

Mars, though lagna lord (any bhava or planet aspected by lagna lord or associated with lagna lord gets strength), Mars is a natural malefic and also eighth lord (will cause affliction). The aspect of Saturn apart from being a friendly aspect is

an aspect of inauspicious planet,

Badhakadhipati and a natural malefic.

! Conclusion: The financial position of the 1 native will be medium, will incur expenses on diseases, medicines, may have debts, theft, loss of money in one form or the other. Ii Second house being the house of speech. the native may be harsh, control of Jupiter may pose some restrictions and make him polite. The use of second house for astrological predictions is manifold. It has its own importance. Mter lagna or the first house, the next importance is given to this house. lO Learned astrologers say that this house is also house of education, wealth, speech etc. I treat this house as the house of friendship and enmity. The speech is responsible for making a friend or a foe. This house shows the longevity of the association of the married couple. The second house indicates whether the married life will be happy,

This house is also marakasthana. The two houses, second and seventh have been defined on one hand as marakasthanas (killer), on the other hand as they represent the most important factor of the happy human life i.e. money, wealth and spouse respectively. The man cannot be happy without money and good life partner.

It is very clear

-(1) As a lion is entrapped by a hunter, using goat (as a food for him), similiarly the native after marriage, loses his freedom.

(2) The diseases generally contracted by the

native are due to food habits i.e. second house is house of wealth, but also of death.

(3) A lust for money makes the native

greedy, immoral, of loose social values etc.

(4) The seventh house, over sex, dissatisfied

sex, cause loss of moral and social values, marital discord etc ., are all indicated by this house. Here I stress that the marriage pu ts responsibility of Grahastha Ashrama on the shoulders of the native. His freedom, which he/she used to enjoy due to the grace ofparents is now restricted. So the acquisition of wealth also makes the man worried. Worrying is bad. The native suffers on account of worries. One does not care for health when he is busy in his business,

profession and also while indulging in sex.

(ii'L) The third House: has Mars in his own

constellation Mrigashira, in navamsha in Scorpio own sign, (showing very strong hold on third house). The aspect of Jupiter on third house (enemy) and on Mars (enemy to Mercury but friend to Jupiter), will reduce the malefic effect of Mars on the third house. Saturn's aspect on Mars (enemy, but Gemini a friend's house) will withhold Mars from giving a malefic effect on third house.

A very important point will require attention of readers. Mars in third aspected by Jupiter the ninth lord is treated as good. The actual position is, Jupiter is retrograde in Saturn's house (a neutral), in the constellation of

Rahu and in Saturn's navamsha

(vargottama). Hence he will be in a position to give complete beneficial results. So also Saturn is posited in the constellation of Moon (enemy) debilitated in navamsha chart will also not be very strong to stop Mars from giving his malefic effects. The position of lagna lord in third is also not favourable for co-borns. Either there will not be a male issue after him, or will not survive, or the native will not have cordial relations with him or the coborn will not prosper.

The position of Mars in third house is defined as destructive for brothers, unhappiness from brothers, bereft of co-born etc. (refer book "Nine planets and twelve bhavas" written by the author).

Actual events of the chart under discussion (in chapter 2):

The native is eldest, has a sister, a brother and a sister after him in chronological order. (a) The position of Mars indicates that the

i native should be either the eldest or

youngest (in same sex) and m ay not be in bet.ween the two. This principle is correctly applicable here.

(b) The position of Mars in third means the native will not have brother/sister (coborn of the same sex) after him. The native of

after him. Had there been a male progeny

1 to his mother that would have resulted

into abortion or death.

(iv) The fourth house has Rahu in Cancer

whose lord Moon, is in Aries i.e. in lagna (well posited). Rahu is in the Pushya constellation of Saturn and in navamsha of Mars (strong malefic). The lord of the fourth Moon is in the constellation of Ketu and in

its own navamsha. No aspect is on the Moon. The fourth house receives seventh aspect of Saturn (Badhakadhipati for this Aries lagna and also an inauspicious planet). The fourth house is badly afflicted. The house is also sandwiched between two malefics Mars and the Sun. Only the position of the lord of fourth and the aspect of Jupiter on fourth house gives some relief.

The fourth bhava is under the influence of Rahu, Mars, Sun, Saturn, Ketu, Moon and Jupiter. The effect of malefic planets is more.

Jupiter is posited in a malefic sign and also in malefic constellation. The Moon is in malefic sign and in malefic constellation. Jupiter is not very powerful, but as Jupiter is Vargottama it is strong. The Moon is in own navamsha. Rahu is in navamsha of Mars (afflicte d). Sa tu rn is deb iii ta te d in navamsha (weak). Mars is lagna and 8th lord for this chart.

Conclusion: There may be difficulties, discomfort, some problems, quarrels and unhappiness etc. in home or problems concerning properties Dr conveyances but relief is also visible due to favourable positions of Jupiter and the Moon.

Results - The native had to be away from family from 20-8-1B80 to 20-8-1B85 due to service at Delhi and also suffered loss of money due to cheating by a property dealer (in IB88), accident of scooter (in 1989 and again in IBB6).

(v) The fifth house (Poorva janma karmas) has its lord Sun posited therein (very good), with Mercury and aspected by Jupiter (good). The Sun is in constellation of Ketu (a malefic, not good, but Ketu is gyanakaraka) and in the navamsha of Venus (enemy sign) with Ketu. This shows the Sun has lost its strength being afflicted in navamsha. Jupiter and Mercury are supposed to strengthen the position of the fifth house. Mercury lord of the third and the sixth will also give some trouble in one respect. There is a malefic in twelfth and benefic in the
