Introduction
The Greater London Authority (GLA) is pleased to invite you to submit an application for the New Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) Programme.
The Mayor and GLA group strongly endorse the concept of BIDs and their role in the ‘place shaping’ of local town centres and industrial estates. BIDs are included in the Mayor’s Economic Development Strategy (EDS) and the London Plan which highlight the fact that BIDs are a great way of getting diverse local businesses to work together.
There are currently 44 BIDs in London and the Mayor has made a policy commitment to supporting the development of both existing BIDs and new BIDs with the aim of achieving a target of 50 BIDs in the capital by 2016.
The ‘GLA New Business Improvement Districts Programme’
The ‘GLA New Business Improvement Districts Programme’ is a competitive grant funding scheme open to all BID Proposers within the Greater London area who require funding to progress their BID development from the feasibility study stage to the point of Ballot.
The requirements and criteria of the ‘GLA New Business Improvement Districts Programme’ are outlined in the Statement of Requirements which accompanies this document. The Statement of Requirements and Application Form can be found at www.london.gov.uk/bids-grant-programme
NB: Please note that decisions on grant funding are subject to a formal decision making process. You must not place any reliance whatsoever on the support of the GLA until formally notified in writing of the grant award and the authorised signatories in your organisation have executed and returned a GLA funding agreement.
Accordingly, any expenditure that you incur and/or to which you commit (including in relation to the preparation of your proposal for funding) prior to formal notification, execution and return of the funding agreement is incurred and/or committed entirely at your own risk.
