Thank you to everyone during this busy spring semester o Launch of the Student Success Work Group o Gala meeting—sold out event; 340 tickets o Distribution of the Student Opinion Survey o Opening of Baker Street Baby Cakes o Chronicle survey
o Middle States review—visitation members enjoyed the campus and the familial attitude; failed two standards--#5 & #14—shared services is the cause; will need to complete a 1 or 2 year report update
Enrollment is of concern; we are expecting to meet our 2% increase over last year but there is concern that some programs may not meet their targets—lower enrollment trickles through the campus
The Gala Celebration—May 10th; expecting to raise more than expected Questions
o Q: When will the written report from Middle States be available? A: 2-3 weeks and the President will be able to correct any factual errors
o Q: How will the college respond to standard #5? A: The issue is about shared services and that a college president cannot serve more than 51% of their time at more than one college; this is an issue for SUNY to deal with
o Q: Are there any other colleges dealing with shared services resulting in failing standard #5? A: Any college using shared services similar to ours will fail standard # 5.
Provost Nader
o The Student Opinion Survey began today; Thank you to the culinary classes for the cookies
o Completed the SUNY Report Card; number of internships and cooperatives was 497 in the 2010-2011 school year
o Student debt for the current student population is $14.6 million
o Enrollment—Hospitality is struggling—onsite and offsite; more pronounced off campus o SSWG is underway and is currently working on a variety of options to support student
success
o Standard #14—foundation is in place—concern on unevenness as not all areas are covered
o Finals Week—please ask your area if they have an opinion of going to 15 weeks of instruction with an option for a 2 hour block to replace the last week
o Q: How do we ensure growth in practice to respond to Standard #14? A: look to annual reports; make sure everyone has outcomes
o Q: Will there be workshops on Standard #14? A: Yes
o Q: For Standard #5, are we looking to adjusting the structure from deans on down? A: Yes, but carefully through release time and greater use of adjuncts
