More than ever, a brand’s destiny is controlled from the top–launching new technology that will demand top market share, building a brand image that will become top of mind, and the need to reach key decision makers within your targeted audience.
To get a glimpse of media interactions at the top, Offshore teamed with Martin Akel & Associates in the fall of 2013 to perform an online survey. Our goal was to determine the status and challenges of decision makers in the oil and gas industry, and to learn how these decision makers engage with today’s array of media vehicles. In eliciting responses from our full suite of media subscribers (magazine and eNewsletter) and event attendees, we received feedback from nearly 2,000 qualified respondents in which 100% were qualified as technology decision makers from operators, oil and gas companies, engineering/design/ construction firms, industry contractors, and related consulting firms.
The study revealed that 99% of the respondents are conducting business differently because of recent changes in the business environment, largely due to ongoing unstable economic conditions, both
domestic and worldwide. The study also revealed that buyers are now contacted by an increasing number of suppliers vying for their business and that they are also faced with more options and more complex products, making it harder to separate one brand from another. For these reasons, buyers have grown more skeptical, forcing them to evaluate a broader range of options before purchasing – making the business environment more competitive than ever before.
During the selection process, buyers in the Offshore market prefer to gain prior knowledge of a supplier via the supplier’s communications program before they will consider meeting with a company representative. They are seeking familiarity, a comfort that is attained from suppliers who communicate regularly with decision makers. To achieve this familiarity, 75% of decision makers have expanded the time in which they spend with professional media resources such as publications, online resources, and in-person events. As trends of multi-media engagement surge among decision makers within the Offshore market, it is important for you, as marketers, to select a range of media that complements other components within your program. With the largest audience of management and engineering professionals in the marine/ offshore market, the Offshore brand provides many tools to effectively reach your marketing objectives. Speak with your Offshore representative to learn about Offshore marketing solutions and to create an effective marketing mix to fulfill your campaign objectives.

Offshore magazine is very useful for me because I can see new technologies about oil and consider other options to solve problems every day. This is how Offshore is useful for my job. Thanks!
