2013-2014 GO JO level 5- 9 Summary Charts– Draft V. 1

We have used the following concepts:

• To adopt the JO code of points, concepts and scoring. This program is strong due to its basics, choice of skills, sequences, special requirements and scoring concepts throughout the level system level 1 – 9. The JO levels have been well thought out and are very progressive and balanced. Therefore the strength of the program is most visible when it’s used in its entirety.

• Overall, the JO program is consistent and emphasizes the use of basic elements that are fundamental building blocks for higher level gymnastics. The JO program level 1- 4 is all encompassing; able to provide a platform for athletes wishing to progress to higher levels and a safe environment for those athletes who choose to enjoy the sport at a more basic level. Regardless of the gymnast participating, smart skill choices are still extremely important for safety and for progression from one level to the next

• There have been a few modifications to the JO program for Gymnastics Ontario as follows:

o JO compulsory level 5 has been replaced by GO JO level 5 optional routines with special requirements in the same format as JO level 6 – 9. The GO JO level 5 routine requirements were created with reference and thought to the JO level 5 compulsory, OCP level 5 and the new JO level 6 such that flow and fundamental skill choices stay consistent.

o Level 9 has been modified to allow all D elements but counting as C’s to help with transition to the Canadian national level Open.

o Level 7 vault values have been modified such that a front handspring full twist is worth more than a handspring

o Selected level 6 requirements have been slightly modified to respect the differences in our provincial systems and gymnastic environments.

• Judging requirements and meet specifications remain the same.

Special Note:

You will notice some differences in level 5 requirements in this draft

document compared to the requirements published on

April 15, 2013

.

The area of

difference is highlighted in yellow. This document is the most up-to-date version

and should be followed until or when the next update is published.
