Online Class Registration Guide Fall 2016

Background Information: The Curriculum

In developing your schedule you will need to understand the components of the College wide curriculum:

 Major Requirements: These can be found in the Endicott College Catalog and on your major’s web page. (Your dean has registered you for the fall semester requirements.)

 General Education Course Requirements: The general education courses are grouped into eight categories to provide an opportunity for you to explore a variety of disciplines within the liberal arts. Consult the Registrar’s page for a description of the categories and a complete listing of courses.

 Free Electives: These are courses that may be of interest to you and have no prerequisites or restrictions.

 Registration opens on Monday, July 18th and closes on Sunday, July 31st.

The Registration Process

Accessing COAST

1. In order to begin the process of registering for classes, you must first become familiar with COAST, Endicott’s internal website.

2. Go to the Endicott College Web site: www.endicott.edu

3. Select “MyEndicott” on the blue bar located on the top of the page.

4. Click on the COAST link located on the left of the page under “quick links”.

5. At the Welcome Screen, click “For Students.”

6. Enter your username and password. You will be receiving an e-mail from the Information Technology department with this information. If you misplaced that information, contact Information Technology at 978-232-2072.

7. Make sure that the current option settings indicate UNDG FA 2016.

8. Select “Student Schedule” where you will see a series of major course requirements that your Dean has pre-selected for you. You may not change these courses because they are required for your major.

9. You are now ready to plan the remainder of your schedule.

Planning Your Class Schedule

1. A typical course load for freshmen during the fall semester is 15-17 credits, depending on the courses selected. To plan your courses begin by clicking on the “Course of Study” and the selecting UNDG Beverly-Day from the drop-down menu.

2. In selecting your courses, be sure to consult the advising sheet and any special instructions that you received from your Dean during Orientation.

3. From the Course of Study, choose a section of ENG111 Critical Reading and Writing I, a course that is required of all freshmen. You may choose any section in a timeslot that works for you*.

4. In some majors you may include general education courses and/or free electives in your fall schedule. Consult the advising sheet to see if this is possible. We recommend taking courses at the 100 or 200 level only. If you decide to take a math class, check the advising sheet to see if a specific class, such as “statistics,” is recommended.

5. You are now ready to register.

*Note: Students in the Endicott Scholars Honors Program should not enroll in ENG111. HON100 Honors Seminar I will substitute for ENG111.

Registering for Classes

1. You have been randomly assigned to a registration session. You may register on or after the assigned time. Select “Student Registration” to find your registration date and time.

2. In order to register, click on “Student Registration.”

3. Follow the directions on the “Registration Entry” page to enter the courses you would like to take. (NOTE: You must enter a space before the number for a course with a two- letter prefix.

Example: SP 101. A course with a three- letter prefix does not require a space before the number. Example: PSY100)

4. Adjustments can be made to your schedule during fall orientation when you will be meeting with your deans, chairs, and advisors. You will have an additional opportunity for schedule changes in meetings with your advisor during the ADD/DROP period in the first week of classes.
