ST. BENEDICT PARISH

IS CELEBRATING MASS IN OUR CHURCH!!!

Dear all,

We will be celebrating Mass in our church this weekend, but there will be limited access and accommodations as construction continues.

The entrance doors on the corner of Main St. and Court St., as well as the double doors on Court St., will be open for access and regress. The stairwell in that corner of the church will be open. However, down the steps is limited only to accessing the men's restroom below (which is now designated as a unisex bathroom for everyone's use).

The outside door on Main St. near the alley that provides access to the sacristy will remain locked. The outside door on Main St. that leads to the former ramp down into the parish hall will remain locked.

Handicap entry access to the church will again be reestablished through the rectory, across the walkway and into the sacristy.

Restricted areas will be indicated by signs and taped off. These are prohibited areas. Please abide by these signs and stay out.

We appreciate your cooperation and patience in this process.

Fr. Phil Gibbs, Pastor of St. Benedict Parish

St. Bens will be holding an all-school garage sale on Saturday, April 21st, during Decorah's city-wide garage sales. This is also the same day as our Banquet of Blessings! Both great ways to support our school! We are asking for your help!

Start rummaging through your home for items to donate! Lightly used books, kids' clothing (no adult clothing this year), toys, bedding, holiday decorations, tools, furniture and jewelry are just a few of the many items that we would love to receive. Be sure to get your children involved in this process, too. It’s a great way to clear the clutter from your home, and to do something nice for others at the same time. Remember, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure! We will be having an all day drop-off session the day before the garage sale from 7:45 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Also, we will be asking for you to price your items at home before you drop them off at the school. This can be as easy

as writing a dollar amount on a small piece of masking tape and placing it on the item. Any items that are not sold during the garage sale on Saturday, will be taken to the Depot. If you are willing to volunteer on Friday for the drop-off or on Saturday morningfor the garage sale, please contact Kelly Coppola at 515.490.8698 or k_k_davis@hotmail.com or Tonya Holthaus at 563.380.3973 ort_holthaus@hotmail.com.

All proceeds from the St. Ben's Garage Sale will go towards our school!

~Family #6

Thank you so much for the gifts! The clothes fit. My 15 year old is ready to go fishing, my daughter has been “doodling” and we had hoped to go to the Field of Dreams last year but didn’t make it. We will try to make it there this summer. The kids are happy to be warm and “stylish!” Thanks again!

~Family #7

Everything we got was appreciated. It made our Christmas happy! ~Family #8 Thank you for making my family’s Christmas extra special. It has been amaz- ing to me how complete strangers are so generous. I appreciate your acts of kindness & hope that soon I am on the giving side. God Bless. ~ Family #9 Thank you so very much or the Christmas presents! We are so thankful from the bottom of our hearts-we are so grateful for people like you! It helps us out to know that we could provide for the needs of our family and people in the community can give our kids a super Christmas. My husband and I were worried about how we were going to buy presents for our kids-it was such a blessing to know someone who can help us out! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Words cannot express how much we appreciate your generosity! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! ~Family #10

ATTENTION ALL PARISHIONERS

As our new addition begins to take shape, we are looking to the future! Our goal is to have an updated parish hall that we will rent out for the needs of our parishioners and the local

community – anniversary open houses, birthday parties, sacramental & graduation receptions, rehearsal dinners, wedding receptions, family gatherings, class reunions, Christmas & Easter dinners, etc.

Our completion date is projected to be August/

September. We will have two spaces available with both including use of the new serving kitchen. The facility will be handicap accessible with a drive up, drop off area to the south of the building; a new elevator; and new restrooms on both levels, including a family restroom, all up to date with current accessibility standards.

Reservations are on a first come, first serve basis to parish members and non-parish members alike. The larger space ($350 per event) will seat about 220 people in round tables and our smaller space ($200 per event) will seat about 50 in round tables. The serving of spirits will be permissible with necessary documentation and insurance forms. A non-refundable deposit of half the amount will be required on reserving the space. A cleaning deposit of $100.00 will also be required that would be returned if the space is left in excellent condition.
