Step 1 – High School Requirements

The student is required to take the following sequence of high school specialized courses in a career concentration, and must maintain a grade of 80% or better for each course.

1 Business Information Management Systems I (13011400) or II (13011500) or a Technology Applications course

2 Any Business-related course

3 Computer Programming (13027600) and Advanced Computer Programming (13027700)

Total High School Credit Required 3 or 4

Step 2 – College Validating Requirements

After successful completion of the required high school courses, the student must take the following entry-level college course to continue in a career concentration.

1 Meet with an advisor in the Counseling Center for degree planning and evaluation of possible Tech Prep credits. Must have a copy of unofficial high school transcript. 1 Complete the following:

a. COSC 1437 Programming Fundamentals II 4

Total College Course Credit Required 4

Step 3 – College Credit Granted

After successful completion of the required college courses, the student is eligible to receive advanced placement credit toward a career concentration.

1 COSC 1436 Programming Fundamentals I 4

Total College Credit Hours Awarded 4

Additional Credit Option

By presenting proper proof of successful attainment, the student may also receive credit for the following: 1. Present proof of certification in:

a. MOUS Certification Exam (4 applications: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

*Student may receive credit for ITSC 1425 by presenting valid certification. If ITSC 1425 is

awarded by certificate, then ITCC 1402 must be taken in the classroom as the validating course for Tech Prep credit.

Step 3 – College Credit Granted

After successful completion of the required college courses, the student is eligible to receive advanced placement credit toward a career concentration.

*Student may receive credit for ITSY 1400 by presenting valid Security+ certification. If ITSY 1400 is awarded by certificate, then ITSC 1407 must be taken in the classroom as the validating course for Tech Prep credit.

After successful completion of the required college courses, the student is eligible to receive advanced placement credit toward a career concentration.

1. ITSC 1425 Personal Computer Hardware 2. COSC 1436 Programming Fundamentals I 3. COSC 1401 Microcomputer Applications
