The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) estimated that 4,131,000 patients are affected by approximately 4,544,100 episodes of HCAI every year in Europe. Of every 100 hospitalized patients at any given time, 7 in developed and 10 in developing countries will acquire at least one health care-associated infection (WHO report, 2011). Annual financial losses are estimated at ~€7 billion in Europe, including direct costs only and reflecting 16 million extra days of hospital stay, and at about US$ 6.5 billion in the USA.

To overcome these challenges, also to manage unexpected pandemic situations like Ebola (2014) and COVID-19, there is a greater need to improve surveillance and infection-control practices worldwide. Many infection prevention and control measures demand high level of maintenance and extensive labour time. This is where UV-C based desinfection techniques can bring greater value in terms of disinfection efficiency as well as reducing the efforts of cleaning or medical staff significantly.

Together, ASTI and Boos offers a range of ´ZENZOE´ disinfection solutions in many configurations in performance as well as economically viable
